Finding Mr. Bright Is Easy with Benefit’s New Kit

March 11th, 2011 by Karen 41 Comments

benefit finding mr bright

It took me 26 years and many, many bad dates to find my Mr. Right (what up, El Hub?!), but Finding Mr. Bright shouldn’t take anywhere near that long.

Believe it or not, it’s actually easy — even easier than scarfing down a red velvet cupcake. Just roll on up to your nearby Benefit counter, and you should find him there.

Finding Mr. Bright ($36) is Benefit’s new kid on the block, and he proves, with his snazzy neon pink and orange packaging, that real men like him aren’t afraid to wear pink.

And homeboy’s got a lot more going on than outer good looks. The kit contains four travel-size products to add color and shimmer to cheeks, eyes, face and lips.

  • Erase Paste in No. 2 Medium brightens your under-eye area while it covers dark circles.
  • Girl Meets Pearl, a pearly golden pink liquid primer, gives a subtle sheen to the skin; I like layering it beneath my foundation or tinted moisturizer.
  • Posie Tint, a liquid blush, doubles as a lip tint, dressing up cheeks and lips with a sweet, baby pink.
  • High Beam gives a light pink shimmer to the skin, and you can also mix it with your favorite moisturizer to give a subtle glow to shoulders and legs.

For girls who are new to the Benefit line, Finding Mr. Bright might be a nice way to get to know the company’s products. Frequent travelers may also find the travel sizes perfect for trips.

I never even knew about highlighters until you introduced me to Benefits Moon and High Beam and I love them!

Hee hee! I love his paws because they’re so chunky. 🙂

So happy to hear that you’re enjoying the highlighters. They make such a HUGE difference, don’t they? I would look 100X more exhausted without them.

TGIF! i cannot say that enough. ive been struggling w/ seasonal allergies this week and i really need a good sleep in! 🙂

does it make me a huge benefit fan when i say that i own the full size of 3 out of the 4 products in that kit? i do. and i love them!

i use erase paste for days like the days of this week – when i didnt get enough sleep and my dark shadows are more pronounced. it does an awesome job of covering up the dark circles under my eyes!

      Hi Nina,

Mine are starting to kick in too. Nature’s starting to do her thing and my nose is stuffy!

Which of the products in the kit don’t you have?

Is it alright if I throw in a link to my Mr. Bright review? It comes to the same conclusion as yours, but the swatches look *mindblowingly* different on our skintones! Feel free to delete if needed, babe 🙂

Ah, sweet High Beam. I can only comment on that because I haven’t tried any of the others, but they all look lovely!

Happy Friday to you, Karen! I hope you have a great weekend. And I’m so glad that you guys, and El Hub’s family in Hawaii, are OK. I’m sure it was a terrible scare. I hope everything settles down for all of you this weekend.

Happy Friday, Karen! I remember Benefit having a similar kit that was a stellar deal at Sephora for only $10.

Also….happy 311 day! I hope your “Amber” day doesn’t get “All Mixed Up” and turns into a “Beautiful Disaster.” Maybe El Hub will sing a “Love Song” to you too. 😀

      Hi Steph!

How’s tax season going? Are you still crazy busy?

And haha, I didn’t realize today was 311 day until now. All Mixed Up is one of my ’90s jams.

Tax season is crazy busy, but good! I can’t really complain. My trip to San Diego at the end of next month (for my very good friend’s bachelorette party) is the light at the end of my tunnel!

311’s remake of Love Song (The Cure) is one of my all time fav’s. I first heard it on the soundtrack of 50 First Dates – such a great movie, even though I’m not a big Drew Barrymore fan.

How fun! Color me jealous… I love San Diego. You’re going to have so much fun.

Hmm, I don’t think I’ve heard their version of that song. Will look it up right now!

I love the packaging and name. Posietint is something I probably will purchase soon, but that’s it since I own High Beam already. Girl Meets Pearl and Erase Paste simply do not get my heart pumping, until Tabs there in his glory! How many photoshoots does he pose for you each day?

It would be nice if Benefit offered a choice of colours for the Erase Paste so it can be customised – I’m pretty sure No.2 is too dark for me.

Tabs really IS quite handsome and knows it too! He really does have some spectacular colouring. That last photo with his intense eyes is quite mesmerising, hypnotic even. Do you find yourself ever calling him your little ‘lion cat’?

LOL! Do you need any for traveling? It might be a good excuse to stock up on tiny sizes of your faves.

The only one I don’t use here on the regular is Erase Paste. It’s not nearly opaque enough for my monster dark circles!

so when Sephora had the mini kits for 10 bucks I grabbed 2 – so I already have minis of posie tint and high beam, lol. and yeah, erase paste is the only thing I don’t have a full size of, but I have a mini, and I’m not crazy about it. love the other three things though!!

Me too. I especially love Posie Tint for lips. It’s a nice way for when I want color but don’t want to deal with reapplying.

Speaking of kits, I just picked this one up from Sephora. It’s from a new brand called Bite: Define & Refine Lip Set.

I’m super curious about it too! I like to think that it was inspired by vampires, although it probably wasn’t, haha. What do you have your eye on?

it could be! vampires are so in right now, lol!

I was eying the SPF 15 Sheer Balm and the Vitamin Gel looks interesting, especially if the scents match the names!

This is funny I was just watching HSN and they were selling a product with four under-eye covers. The woman did the girls make up before and after – and covered her acne scars, under-eye bags, blueish under-eye tint, etc, with make up included in very large sizes all for $59.99. In two equal payments. It looked really good!

    Hi Karen,

I hope you, Tab, and El Hubs are having a lovely weekend!

Did the Erase Paste Medium 2 work with your skin color? I just ordered a different set from Sephora that has this shade, but I’m scared it might be a little too light for my skin (I’m a shade darker than you are).

This looks like such an awesome kit but I wish they would make ones that included the lighter and darker shades of erase paste because shade 2 is way too dark for my pastey winter skin! Have a great weekend Karen!
