Fusion Beauty LipFusion Lip Conditioning Sticks Make $22 Almost Seem Like a Bargain

July 21st, 2010 by Karen 72 Comments

Fusion Beauty LipFusion Conditioning SPF 15 Stick Review
Fusion Beauty LipFusion Conditioning Sticks SPF 15 clockwise from left: Berry, Butterscotch, Buff

Ya know, it’s true what they say — there’s nothing like two Eggo waffles, a cup of coffee and a heaping scoop of Amplifat to start your day.

Yes, boo, Amplifat.

It might sound like something muffin tops contract (blast you, Nutella!), but it’s actually the star plumping ingredient in Fusion Beauty’s new LipFusion Conditioning SPF 15 sticks ($22).

I’ve tried three of the five little tubes of plumping pigment — Buff, Butterscotch and Bitten — and each one feels like moisturizing heaven on my lips, gliding on with a creamy, non-sticky texture that reminds me of oiled fingers on Alcide’s obviously waxed werewolf chest…

Wait — what was I talking about?

Seriously, a werewolf with a hairless chest?

Fusion Beauty gave them a light minty flavor and scent to go with their subtle (read: barely noticeable) plumping action. Speaking of that, they just barely tingle, unlike other plumping lip products that hurt like bee stings!

I also dig how relatively pigmented they are for conditioning lip balms, which isn’t to say they’re bright as heck, but the colors do — GASP! — actually show up on my lips.

As for wear time, they seem to last a good long while. Yesterday I wore Buff to my photography class, and after one stick of Orbit gum, a bottle of water and a protein bar (a total of about two hours of), it had just barely begun to fade.

Oh, but here’s the kicker: Fusion Beauty charges Chanel-esque prices for their products. Just like the other bits and bobs we’ve looked at from the line, these cost a bundle.

Of course, if you’re a fiend for luxurious conditioning lip balms with SPF, you need look no further than these. Available at Sephora stores and online at sephora.com. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B+

You might like the Fusion Beauty LipFusion Conditioning Sticks if…

  • You want a moisturizing lip conditioner that also plumps
  • You like lip products with SPF
  • You want something smooth that doesn’t feel sticky on your lips
  • You’re prepared to pay a premium

Karen

I am sorry – was there makeup in this post? All I see is naked chest. Nice-looking naked chest. Alcide’s naked chest makes me blush in a non-cougar type way (unlike Jacob’s naked chest). Yummm. Going back to check out the lippies now!

I think there’s no point in giving that much money for a lip balm. For an eyeliner, I’d give it without thinking twice, sure, but for a lip balm? No. There’s nothing my beloved Nivea or Burt’s Bees can’t do 🙂

Eh, call me crazy, but I expect a plumping product to have impressive plumping ability. My HG tinted balm is by Palladio… you MUST try it if you haven’t. Only $4 and it’s divine.

Haha love the Alcide reference! I watch One Tree Hill as well and I keep remembering his short-lived role on that show as a bartender/love-interest for Brooke. Who knew he could actually act?

Oh, it’s not plumping. It’s just the PERFECT tinted lip balm! it is sooo rich and pigmented and smooth! I have it in Rosey which I hear is the most pigmented. It’s pretty long lasting too!

You can get it at Ulta or Sally…. I think those are the major stores that carry Palladio. I have no doubt you will love them! 🙂

Anyways…er, these sound a bit like my Revlon tinted lipbalms (only those are actually much more pigmented which is why I love them). I’m liking Butterscotch, will have to go check that out. I’m flying off to Taiwan tonight on the red-eye, very tempted to stuff myself full of Nutella before I leave.

Uh, what, wait, this post was about lip balm? *distracted by Nutella* Ironically, I’ve been on a Nutella LOW the past few years. I think I inhaled too much of it when I was 18. It’s weird when you see it at your neighborhood grocery store when you know it used to only be available in higher end grocery stores (Sunset Foods) and the Commissary. I was about 8 months old when I tried Nutella (of course, it’s the food of Europe. I was living in West Germany then). Been hooked ever since,

My favorite lip balm is Nivea A Kiss of Moisture. The stuff is godly. I’ve gone through at least 10 tubes in the past three years. You’ll have to pry it out of my dead cold fingers. I LOVE the stuff.

It does. When I saw it in my neighborhood grocery store when I was 16, my mom and I sorta inhaled 20 jars I think in 2 years? I can’t bear looking at it right now because I just inhaled way too many. It used to be so expensive when I was little because it had to be imported from Europe!

I get that way with certain foods too. Circa 1998 I ate waaaay too many Eggo Frozen waffles, and then I couldn’t touch them for years.

Now I love ’em again. I guess absence does make the heart grow fonder, especially when it comes to food, ha ha ha.

The fresh one are pretty much the same size. I am a pretty devoted fan to the Fresh Sugar Lip Balms. It’s an even bigger splurge (26 bucks!) But I think it’s worth it. There are 3 flavors now, and each one of them is so delicious and moistuirizing. (Sorry, i CANNOT spell that word!) They smell amazing, too. The packaging is about the same, but these Lip Fusions are a little sturdier.

And Jason was killing me with his paper clip shenanigans, and with pulling Crystal over shirtless (with CHiPs sunglasses on)! I know what she was like in the books but the show always changes things up, which is great.

PS If you haven’t read any of the books, they are very easy reads. Fast moving and no thought required – which is sometimes just what the doctor ordered! 🙂
