I Like the Wind Beneath My Wings Hawaii Jewelry

December 1st, 2010 by Karen 34 Comments

Eight years ago, Wings Hawaii, an all-woman run clothing and jewelry company, started as an art project at the University of Hawaii.

Now the Maui-based line sells their handmade, beach-inspired designs at stores all over Hawaii (Oahu, Kauai and Maui), the mainland (New York, California, Georgia and Washington) and online at wingshawaii.com.

I couldn’t resist this ring ($40) and pair of earrings ($50) I spotted at a Local Motion T-shirt store.

All of their jewelry is made from sterling silver, 14-karat gold fill, semi-precious stones and shells from local beaches. Prices range from $20 for a sterling silver ring to $1,800 for a sapphire necklace.

It may be six months before I’ll be able to pair these pieces with a sundress and sandals, but, until then, at least I can daydream about warm waters, surfing and white sand beaches. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Rawwrhearts,

It was! The water was a little chillier than it would be in the summer, but it was still wonderfully warm.

I hope you give their jewelry a look soon. 🙂

It’s really nice there in the winter 70s, with some rain. It’s usually warm rain, though.

I wore ’em on the flight home yesterday. I like reaching up and feeling the shells between my fingertips… it’s kinda comforting. 🙂

They’re the kind of earrings that you can wear around the house in the winter months to perk yourself up. Like happy-jewelry. 🙂

pretty stuff!! I love that style of jewelry. The ring is to die for.

There’s going to be a craft fair at the University in Missoula today! I always browse the handmade jewelry and just marvel at what these people do. One of my favorite pieces was a hairstick made out of an antique spoon! SO cool.
I missed my chance a few months ago to snag some fingerless mittens (coolest accessory EVER) and I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll be able to find a pair today!

      Hi Shannon,

I’ve visited your school university once! I had a friend who went to law school there. The campus is really pretty.

BTW, good luck with finding the fingerless mittens.I’m thinking I need a pair myself. 🙂

I wish I was in Hawaii right now! I’ve never been, but I’m sure it’s a million times better than all this snow and cold surrounding me right now.

Also, I really like that ring. I mean, a whole lot. That’s the kind of ring that I could wear every day, since I bet it goes with everything.
