Lust in Translation: A Scandal Lust Journey of Glitter, Shimmer and MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lust

July 1st, 2013 by Karen 9 Comments

MAC Lust Mineralize Skin Finish
Looking more girl next door than lusty, despite wearing MAC’s $30 Mineralize Skin Finish in Lust

Lusty, lusty, lusty.

Don’t even think about wearing MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lust just to sit in your cube and fill out TPS reports.

Bo-ring!

Save this pink cheek powder for a fun-filled Saturday night instead. Pour yourself into that skintight dress and those frack-me pumps you can barely walk in (but dayum, you know they look good! *snaps*).

As you and your crush sip martinis and get cozy in a quiet booth, he (or she) won’t be able to keep his eyes off of your glistening cheeks, or your smile, which hints at where the night could lead if he plays his cards right.

While we’re at it, let’s assume that your skin is on its best behavior in this scenario, with mellow pores and no dry patches to speak of, since Lust’s mirror-like shine can highlight imperfections. Of course, you don’t have to have skin as smooth as porcelain while you’re getting your swerve on, but to be honest, with Lust, it helps. It’s totally and completely unforgiving, like wearing a rhinestone-encrusted spandex unitard (which is actually quite a feat if you can pull it off).

Lust shines like Ryan Gosling’s eyes in the moonlight… Subtle, it’s not, especially compared to the other MSFs I’ve tried so far from MAC’s Tropical Taboo collection (Adored and Rio), but I think that’s what MAC was going for with Lust. They created a showcase shade.

Mo’ lust!

It’s like they gave it all the pearl they were legally allowed to, and then pushed past that by adding glitter! Lust reflects more light than a supermoon! — and it sure ain’t shy. You wear it when you want someone to notice you, or when you’re going for cheeks with boom-chicka-wah-wah!

MAC Lust Mineralize Skin Finish
Lusty! Er…maybe not.

Additional makeup worn in this look…

  • EYES: MAC Texture Eye Shadow (crease), MAC Honey Lust Eye Shadow (lids and lower lash lines), Bobbi Brown Jet (water and lash lines) and Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara (upper and lower lashes), MAC Veluxe Brow Liner in Deep Dark Brunette
  • LIPS: MAC Have to Have It Lip Pencil (from Tropical Taboo) and MAC Big Baby Plushglass

Do this MSF a solid, and buff it on your cheeks or upper cheekbones with a 187 Duo Fibre Brush. Since Lust is also packed with pigment, a regular blush brush can deposit a little too much product (unless you’re very careful). The 187 handles Lust like a champ.

And maybe also think about toning down your eyes or lips in looks with Lust, as shiny cheeks, bold eyes AND bright lips all worn together can be a little much. I’d wear it with a stronger eye and nude lips to keep the mood lusty, but hey, if you’re aiming for that “Princess at a Unicorn Disco Party” look, by all means, go for it. 😀

PRICE: $30
AVAILABILITY: Limited edition, available now at MAC counters, stores and online

I’ve been really curious to try mineralize skinfinish lately! The only problem is I tend to have larger pores near my nose on both cheeks (but slight larger on the left? Weird…) what would be a good one to get that won’t emphasize them?

This one looks really pretty on you!
I still haven’t been able to decide which items I want from this MAC collection…. I should make a decision before they all sell out!

Ha! I love your lusty pic at the bottom. I’m not sure about the blush. It looks like too much look for me.

Seems like a dicey product but your write up makes it seem less so Karen! I find MSF’s a little difficult to use because of my large pores which get emphasized with anything that has larger shimmer/glittery particles.

Love your blog Karen! and your sense of hour really shines through in a your posts. Anyways, I really liked Lust but ended up grabbing Adored instead as I already have Petticoat, which has a similar pink metallic sheen to it. Thanks for all your hard work!

Boom-chicka-wah-wah….lol…..I love the last pic of you. Give us more expressions! Lust looks divine on you. Makes me want to get it off Evil Bay but I’m more like an NC120. I’ll probably go for it and work it out somehow.
