Mauve Over, Heavy Makeup, and Make Room for Becca Eye Tint in Romanticism

Lately, like a good love song, Becca Eye Tint in Romanticism ($24) has been my weekend jam! Since I haven’t been in the mood to wear a full eye look on Saturdays and Sundays, I’ve been turning to this creamy eye tint in a tube.

A lightly tinted mauve with silver shimmer and a finish with a glint of gloss, this cream-to-powder eyeshadow from Becca’s Balearic Love collection may not be flashy, but I sure do like how it looks. I love that when I stand a few feet away from a mirror, I can tell that I’m wearing a little color on my lids, but I don’t feel like I’m wearing a ton of makeup.

For more on the Becca Balearic Love collection, check out…

  • Roses Are Red Before They’re Pink With Becca Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Valentina

It’s one of those products that doesn’t broadcast itself over the loudspeakers, if you catch my drift. People will think to themselves, “Pretty! She did something different with her look today, but I’m not sure exactly what…” Like getting highlights a shade or two lighter or darker than your natural hair color, Romanticism might not be obvious at first, but it’s easy to spot upon closer inspection.

With a dewy finish, it looks a little bit wet to me, like a raven-haired mermaid’s lids when she pokes her head above the water.

And speaking of water, that’s something Romanticism was designed to resist. It does a decent job, too, holding up fine to rainy days and light workouts. Now, I wouldn’t wear it to spend the day at the beach or pool, but it can stand a little water (for a full day of frolicking in the surf, the Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams might be a better bet).

If I’d had access to Romanticism back in college, shoot — I probably would have worn it every day! It seems like I was always running behind in the mornings back then and often looked a little tired (ya know, from all the “studying”). 🙂 Romanticism would have helped.

And it only takes a minute to apply. First, I prep my lids with NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Primer, and then squeeze a dollop out from the tube. I pat that all over my lids, where it lasts for about six hours.

Oh, you can even layer it beneath powder shadows to give ’em extra dimension.

More kitty noms!

En lieu of actually doing something productive this afternoon, I got to know Today is Caturday. It’s a mecca of amazing kitty randomness, like pics of cats balanced precariously on pieces of furniture, videos of cats trapped in laundry baskets, and the occasional tabby tattoo.

Welcome to my future!

I don’t have much lined up for tonight other than working on my taxes. I’m gonna try to finish in time to catch the results episode of The Voice (did you watch last night?). I’m pulling hard for Jamar Rogers, the guy who did the cover of Are You Gonna Go My Way. Check it:

Kind of an awesome cover, right? I think he did the song justice.

Whatever you’re up to, I hope you’re having a good night. Talk to you soon.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Your foundation always looks SO lovely. Are you still using Studio Sculpt? I was actually inspired to try out that foundation when you switched to it awhile ago, and it’s been working out pretty well for me!

      Hi Monika,

Yes, I’m still using Studio Sculpt. I’ve been alternating between that and Laura Mercier Oil-Free. I’m glad to hear you’re liking it! Do you wear alone, or set it with a powder?

        Hi Karen,

I’ve been setting it with a Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I don’t think I’ve ever worn it by itself, but I may end up doing that more when summer comes along. One more question: do you have a preferred brush/method that you use when you put it on? I’ve been using the 188 + fingers but have been thinking about switching to damp sponges or a beauty blender. Even though the coverage isn’t too heavy, it’s definitely a creamier/thicker foundation, and I’ve been having issues getting it to distribute evenly. Thanks!

      Hi Lucia,

I’m wearing Becca! That’s Bolero blush on my cheeks and Valentina Lipstick on my lips.

I always look at Becca products and think, “That’s nice….. but more than I really want to spend.” This might be the product that makes me crack, though. It just looks nice and simple and wearable.

I am so obsessed with ALL of the Becca Eye Tints and Beach Tints–I think they’re so beautiful and all look so super-wearable. Too bad I have yet to own one…definitely have to remedy this asap!!

This is a great shade! It looks subtle, sophisticated, and easy to use! I really have to look into Becca and Hourglass now. These are the brands that are on top of my lemming list!

Both are great brands. They do classy, elegant makeup.

Romanticism looks so simple, but classy and great for everyday, especially if you don’t have much time in the morning. You could just slap it on and head out the door. <3

      Hi Nina,

Yes! Add a little bit of blush and some gloss and you’re good to go. Does it get really hot in the area you live in Texas? Here we’re pretty close to the bay, so it’ll get into the 80s and occasionally the 90s. Having the water nearby keeps things pretty cool.

So hot that 100 degree temps is normal between the months of May – August. 🙂

I start changing my makeup routine around the start of May and shift to lighter but long wearing stuff. 🙂

Great. Just great. In addition to that blush you showed us the other day, I now want their eye tint. 😀

Good news: the BF is coming home today! He’s doing much better. 🙂

      Hi Chris,

I’m glad to hear he’s coming home. I bet the kitties are very happy. 🙂 I hope he continues to get better, and that you also get the support you need, too.

If I could I’d bring ya some brownies…chocolate always helps.

This reminds me SO MUCH of this great Cover Girl eyeshadow that’s now discontinued! I still have my tube…and i’m eeking it out as long as it will last! It was the shadow squeeze collection I think? Its pretty old, but its still good! Maybe because I didn’t use it when I first got it. Its a great colour for brown eyes! I love it on yours. What foundation are you using? I’m on the lookout for a new one to cover some redness and spots.

Karen, is there a MAC shade that’s comparable to Romanticism?
Becca’s also on my dream wish list.
