NARS Fall 2016 First Impressions

NARS Fall 2016

Ooh, the NARS Fall 2016 collection makes me wanna unleash my inner artiste!

Look at all those pencils… My goodness. I’m tempted to grab one of my adult color books.

Coming July 15 to NARS boutiques and the NARS website, and sometime in August to Sephora and NARS counters, this one’s mostly about the pencils.

The big news? The new $24 NARS Velvet Eyeliners, which are coming in nine shades. They’re like smokey kohls…

They get soft and smooth, so you can smudge and smoke ’em out, making them great bases for smokey eyes looks and, of course, you can also use them to line your lash and water lines.

On my water lines, though, I get some transferring onto the skin along my lash lines, which isn’t a big deal to me, because I just end up smooshing and smudging them out anyway (’cause homegirl likes it SMOKAYYYY!), but it’s there.

The collection also includes two NARS contour blush duos, three eyeshadows and two red matte lip pencils.

NARS is renowned for their red lipsticks, and they protect their rep as the bad-@ss brand on the block with the two reds here.

One of them, Infatuated Red, which I’m wearing in the pic below, is TO DIE. It’s one of those perfectly opaque matte garnets that emphatically waves hello from across a crowded room.

It’s also the one limited edition piece in the collection.

And the Countour Blush Duos? Well, I’m not the biggest fan of contouring… Don’t even get me started on contouring. Like, who has time for that? Plus, sometimes I feel like the push to do intense contouring makes women feel bad about themselves, like they need to change the shape of their features or something.

Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine. #endminirant

I do like the fine texture of these powders and how easily they blend. And I also like that the matte finish has a light sheen. It’s a nice touch because I think it keeps the skin from looking muddy or flat.

Speaking o’ mattes, yup, most of the products in the collection are mattes, but don’t freak out if you’re all about that shimmer, shimmer, chicken dinner. The three luminous and lovely Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows contrast nicely with the many mattes.

I’m really into dark blue Arcturus (I wear it as a liner) and Rigel, the rose gold shade (a beautiful lid color that beams and shines like jewelry).

Get your pencil sharpener ready, babe, and keep an eye out for NARS Fall 2016 when it arrives later this month.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh my magic words are smudgy and smoky! I can’t wait to try the velvet eyeliners. So much pigment judging by the swatches so they look right up my alley.

Nars is already coming up with fall collection? The colors have such a Gothic vibe. Eyes set on the velvet matte lip pencils.

These pencils look really pretty! And I really like this lighter contouring duo! I don’t like heavy conturing either but I don’t mind some light contour to my cheeks! And that dark blue eyeshadow is stunning!

I’m a bit more partial to Consuming Red in the swatch, but that’s just because I tend to prefer the blue-leaning. Though in your pic, Infatuated looks great. And, your hair looks gorgeous, btw. 🙂

YES! I have been ranting about this for ages. Some people have round faces and there is nothing wrong with that.

Ooh, I need those eyeliners. Gimme! 😛

These really look like my daughters crayons, I´d be tempted to work on a coloring book with them.

All the eye and lip options look like winners. Consuming Red looks bet for my pale and cool skin though. I wonder how it compares to Cruella.

Ok, so I’m a little late to the party regarding this post (I’ve been so busy at work!), but Kaliste… oh how I love Kaliste. It was one of my very first Nars purchases ever in college and even though it was a pain in the ass to wear (transferred like crazy into my crease), the color was gorgeous. I think it was the one that kicked off my teal eyeliner love that still continues 10 years later! Anyway, all that to say that I’m def going to pick this up! No teal liner I have has ever been as pretty as Kaliste <3

Lovely post. I just picked up Infatuated Red tonight. I was wondering if it was limited edition… DARN! It’s so perfect! I might have to buy some backups. Both these red lip pencils are very blue based, by the way (someone commented they liked the bluer one; but neither are orangey in ANY way). I found Consuming Red to actually look a bit browner on my skin in the store and Infatuated Red looked better. I’m a cool toned fair skinned redhead!
