NARS Versailles Nail Polish: Summer’s Pearly Lemon Gold

April 20th, 2010 by Karen 41 Comments

The only thing that came close to getting Glee off my mind today was the lovely NARS Versailles nail polish ($16) from Francois’ collection for summer 2010.

NARS made this pearly lemon gold so easy peasy to work with that I can’t believe it’s not butter. It dries quickly, doesn’t streak and has a nice glossy shine I won’t soon forget.

That’s two coats in the swatch up top…

Methinks Versailles is a much cooler color (as in color temp) than the other golden polish that made a big splash with me this summer, Chanel’s Gold Lamé (with its warmer, almost peachy orange undertones).

I haven’t tried many NARS nail polish shades before, but I’ve liked the ones I’ve tried (with the possible exception of streaky Tallulah). I can’t wait to get Versailles on my tootsies under a pair of strappy black sandals this summer. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

mmm reminds me of lemon meringue pies. NARS makes a polish called Tallulah? What does it look like? Have you tried Zoya Tallulah? It’s a very pretty medium blue with green shimmer and purple shimmer depending on the angle. One of my fave polishes

Yes, it should be! It’ll also be available on the Nars website.

As for drugstore polishes, I like Sally Hansen’s.

Oooh. I totally wasn’t that excited about the polish until you wrote about pairing it up on the toes with black strappy sandals. That would be SO CUTE!

I kinda like both but then I am not sure how they would look on my skintone. Not like I can buy them…lol

The only NARS polish I had was Orgasm and I didn’t like it. I ended up giving it away.

I would have to see this in person. I thought I would be all over this because I love soft golden shimmery yellow shades but I am not loving it so far.

Pie? Now you make me want to make pie. Ah well.
It’s quite funny how many different golds there are. I have a darker, more like antiqued gold. It’s pretty old but I still love it, somehow it’s pretty neutral…

Totally agree – the NARS definitely seems like a better summer gold. Chanel’s is a bit to orangey… and streaky.

It is quite peachy, and kind of expensive for what it is. Still, it might be good for the hard core Chanel folks. 🙂

Well that looks lovely on your skintone, but I don’t think it would work on me. Looks like I’m sticking with china glaze lemon fizz for my summer fun yellow nail color.

I think the Nars nail polish is “divine” and will go beautifully with a nice 2 carat or bigger diamond ring! I also think it would look gorgeous on a pair of dark suntanned feet with a blingy toe ring or two!
