Next Stop: Essie Resort 2010 and Nail Polish Paradise

April 8th, 2010 by Karen 62 Comments

Wowee, wow, WOW! Not only did Essie’s new Resort 2010 collection knock my socks off, but then it picked them up and ran away. 🙂 I mean, I usually like the things Essie comes out with, but I haven’t been this stoked about one of their releases since Neon 2008 (I still le sigh when I see Bermuda Shorts).

Splash of Grenadine

OOH! The four-piece Resort collection takes me and my nails down to the spa with colors that remind me of tropical vacations, but not in the way that tropical-themed nail polish collections usually do. These shades aren’t your average beachy corals and hot pinks. Essie Founder and President Essie Weingarten went with these creamy bad boys, drawing inspiration from the chic vacationers who stay at Ritz Carltons and tan on private beaches in luxe island style.

Turquoise & Caicos

Not only did Essie hit the right color notes, but she rocked a flawless formula, too. I think all four of these shades are super easy to use.

  • Texture: Some Essie polishes are extremely thick, and consequently can be a little hard to apply, but these have a texture that feels just right — not to thin, not too thick.
  • Pigmentation: Two layers = complete coverage. 🙂
  • Shine: I might be trippin’, but I swear these are glossier than usual for glossy polishes…

Lapis of Luxury

Playa Del Platinum

I ALL of these colors and think Essie really hit this one out of the park! This Resort opens next month. 🙂 Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

I have always detest Essie nail polishes, probably because of their formula. All the ones I got were like too thick and too hard to work with.

But now since you tell me about their different formulation within this line, I’m gonna try them out. The colours are just adorable! Especially Splash of Grenadine, it’s so bubblegummy.

I have yet to try a blue nail polish, I never had one.

    Beautiful colors!
I really like Lapis of Luxury – reminds me of a tranquil dip in a nice cool swimming pool.
I’m tired of the mint green and taupe trends so those two don’t grab me.
I do like Splash of Grenedine quite a bit too. Looks a bit run-of-the-mill though. Perhaps I just need to see it in person.

I love nothing but Essie’s nail polishes. OPI suck donkey balls because they get so thick by the time I get to the second coat and the colors aren’t as true from the bottle unto the nail is that makes sense. Essie is the ONLY nail polish that I have tried that is smooth and creamy from first to second to third coat.

Hi Karen! Your nails look great with these shades. To be honest, I was only going to get one of these shades, because the Essie spring collection was so hard for me to work with formulation wise – but you just made me want ALL of them with this post! I’m so glad to hear the formula is different, because honestly I like all four shades. Very, very pretty little summer collection!
