Now You See It, Now You Don’t: Becca Creme Eye Colour in Ametrine

August 28th, 2010 by Karen 12 Comments

As much as I love how glossy Becca’s Creme Eye Colour in Ametrine looks on my lids ($28, one of eight shades), dagnabbit if it doesn’t disappear quicker than pints of Häagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche ice cream in my freezer.

Shimmery golden brown Ametrine has lots of good stuff going for it — great pigment, shimmer and a blendable texture (I’ll use it with my fingers). It bestows a dewy finish that looks youthful and fresh, too, which is no easy feat on this 30-something girl.

Unfortch, it just doesn’t last long at all. Used by itself or atop primer on my combination dry/oily lids, it’s almost completely gone within two hours of applying, and it starts to migrate and settle into fine lines after just one.

On the bright side, I suppose the packaging’s a plus. It’s convenient and easy to bring along for touch-ups throughout the day, which somewhat makes up for the weak wear time, I guess. And the color does seem to linger a little longer when it’s worn above a primer with a powder shadow on top…

But that seems like a lot of work for a $28 eyeshadow. I do like the color and glossy finish, but methinks it’s not made with oily lids in mind. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B-/C+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love this shade, it’s really similar to wet’n’wild’s coloricon in nutty- which is 2 bucks, though a powder, not a cream.

They’re really great shadows, and so cheap!

I could easily chow down on a tub in one session! 🙂

Have you ever tried the frozen yogurt version? It’s pretty good.

Le sigh, it is. I was really hoping this would have the same staying power as a Creaseless Cream or a Paint Pot, but no dice.

That’s too bad because the color is so pretty. I have trouble with pretty much any cream eyeshadow in getting them to last on my lids. But I bet there are people out there that can do them!

      Hi Tracy,

Have you tried the Benefit Creaseless Creams? They stay on crazy good, even on oily lids.

I forgot about those! Yes, they are pretty much the only ones that stay on. The MUFE aqua creams aren’t bad either!

I am not the biggest fan of these cream shadows as well but I still want to try BECCA’s Eye Tints. Do you have any? How would you compare these two?
