Small Things Rule: Orly Mani Mini Nail Polishes

September 25th, 2008 by Karen 33 Comments

Like a miniature giant, I TOWER over the world around me. I don’t mind being vertically challenged, but at just over five feet tall it bugs me when pre-pubescent kids ask me whose class I’m in, or when a box of cereal mocks me from an out-of-reach shelf at the grocery store.

Other than these few annoyances, I’m totally down with being small.

As a matter of fact, I have a soft spot in my heart for other small things, like babies, Smurfs and Hershey’s Kisses, and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Orly’s Mani Mini nail polishes.

Aren’t they precious?

Drugstore brand Orly offers an extensive line of nail polish colors and nail care products. Each of their four Mani Mini sets runs $9.95 and comes with four tiny 0.18-fl oz bottles.

I like these wee tykes. I can never seem to finish a full-sized bottle of nail polish, so it makes sense to me to package ’em smaller and sell ’em for less.

The Classics set comes with four safe shades in colors designed to work in every season.

  • Berry Sweet: shimmery hot pink
  • Haute Red: creamy red
  • Ruby: creamy wine
  • Sheer Peche: transparent light peach

Cute, yah? I found these while looking for things to add to the bridal shower gift bags I’m making for a friend, but I’m sure a few will end up in stockings this Christmas.

Ahhh! I am so ready for the weekend. I have the day off from the literary agency tomorrow, so today is kinda like my Friday, but at work I’ve got a ton of stuff that I want to get off my plate. I think it’s going to be one of *those* days. It’s Mirror Mantra time, LOL!

Later today I’m stopping by the mall to check out the two new MAC releases (and will share swatches and deets, of course).

Suite Array (a line of eye shadow duos and pencils) and Cremesheen (fourteen lipsticks in MAC’s new lipstick finish).

Have a great day today. Let’s make it a good one! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

These are really cute. I like the way the Uptown Girl set looks. I never finish an entire bottle of nail polish either and I’m heading to Walgreens today so I think I may just have to check these out if they have them there 🙂

How many coats did you have to put on? The reason I tend to stay about from drugstore nail polish is because it tends to be too sheer, and not shiny enough.

however! Loreal’s new line of polish reminds me a lot of OPI – it’s my new favorite beauty “steal.”

Can’t wait to see what you get from the MAC releases! I’m debating on whether or not I want something from Suite Array.

    Hey Karen.

Life is hectic for me. I’m planning a bridal shower too so thanks for the mini nail polish idea. I’m stopping at MAC today too to get my pre-order of lippies. I’m gonna have to take you up on those Mirror Mantras!

I just love those mini’s. Sephora has tiny polishes, too. I would buy nail polish if I had some nails. I just can’t get into those acylic nails. So most of the time, my nails are au naturel. But that brings up a good point to me, at least. I wish that cosmetic manufacturers would give you a little less product, let’s say half and charge less. Then I would buy a little more frequently and waste less. Because let’s face it, a lot of times, I get tired of the product sooner than I see pan or bottle. That is why that I would probably enjoy using those tiny polishes. Sweet. . . . .

My immediate thought was “stocking stuffer” when I saw the polishes! 🙂 So cute!

Let us know which of the lipsticks you like best from the Creemsheen collection. I picked up Fanfare today and hope to get Speak Louder too. FYI: Swimming e/s is almost dupable from Suite Array’s Bankroll liner!

    Hi P. Potter,

I put on three layers in these pics. That’s my usual standard operating procedure, though…

I haven’t tried the new L’Oreal! What color do you have?

    Hi Dao,

Yay! Black polish is fun. I hope you also have a bottle of Seche Vite, as dark shades chip sooo quickly.

These inexpensive tiny nail polishes are perfect! I never use up my bigger bottle anyway – they just turn into glop before I throw them away. Kudos!
