The LORAC Ooh La Lace Palette Makes Me Feel Ooh La La

August 23rd, 2011 by Karen 14 Comments

CAUTION: Seductive palette ahead.

LORAC’s lurvely Ooh La Lace palette ($36), the latest piece from the brand’s fall collection of lingerie-inspired delectables, has been wooing me with its smoldering selection of baked eyeshadows in neutral and smokey shades of beige, gray, black, peach, bronze and brown.

Want big, bedroom eyes? Lucky for you if you do, because LORAC chose the colors they put into the palette to create eyes just like that.

But that’s not all this palette has. I also see versatile, wearable colors here capable of going out for drinks with the girls after work.

LORAC infused these matte and shimmer shadows with plenty of pigment to spare. Most of them gush with vibrant color, and all of them blend like a very good dream, clinging to my lids all day long while admirably resisting creasing and fading.

When I do a look with more than two of these shades, my blending brush barely has to touch the surface of my skin to transition from one shadow to the next. I have a feeling this palette’s gonna be great for girls who either don’t have much time to get ready in the mornings, or who could use a little help when it comes to blending (or both).

I’ve been using the colors along the top row as a trio for smokey eyes and the shadows along the bottom row to do a look with glowing bronze, but I think both looks barely scratch the surface of what this palette can do.

Hard-core bright fiends may not fall for Ooh La Lace, but if you like your palettes with a healthy dose of pigmented, easy-to-blend neutrals, this could be it. 🙂

PRICE: $36
AVAILABILITY: Available now at exclusively at Sephora stores and also online

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I hope your Tuesday went well. Mine seemed to go by fast. I did go to a movie earlier tonight with El Hub (Crazy, Stupid, Love. I thought it was great! — and not only because of Ryan Gosling’s awesome abs). Shoot, I can’t even remember the last time we went to a movie on a weeknight, but it felt good to be bad.

Love the packaging on this one – and the shades, of course, look great. (The last shadow on the bottom looks particularly gorgeous in your swatches!)

I like that palette a lot more than I thought I would, judging from swatches. Wow! Thanks, Karen!

I’m in the market for one little go-eveywhere palette and had been admiring LORAC’s eyeshadow palettes for some time. The only LORAC product I’ve tried so far has been their L2 luminizer, and it’s been perfect for when I have one of those ghastly looking days. Seems like I’m due to place another order at Sephora, or at least make a good excuse to do so….

I love everything about this palette. How cute is that lace on the box, and the colors are right up my alley.

I’m a sucker for neutrals… This palette looks lovely. I also want to try the LORAC eye primer. Have you tried it, Karen?

    Hi Karen,

Does the package have any info regarding the size/weight of each shadow?
I looked on the Sephora site– but no luck 🙁

    thanks!

I also saw Crazy, Stupid, Love. I enjoyed it because of Steve Carell. 🙂 Heh, I like him in roles like that – he really suits them.

OOoo gorgeous! I love that shimmering grey. Would buy if I hadn’t killed my wallet with Mac Me Over.

If only Lorac was available in the UK. I would pick this up 🙁
