The Make Up For Ever Wild & Chic Eye Shadow Palette Is So Wild That One of the Shadows Got Away!

November 11th, 2011 by Karen 14 Comments

Make Up For Ever Wild & Chic Eye Shadow Palette

Do you ever imagine yourself with a different name and think, “That’s just not right.” I’m a Karen, and that’s all there is to it. 🙂

Sometimes I do that with beauty products. I love it when things seem to fit their names, ya know? Like when you can’t imagine them being called anything else. It’s one of those extra little touches I appreciate, and when it comes to the new Make Up For Ever Wild & Chic Eye Shadow Palette, well, the name fits!

The snakeskin pattern on the outside — I mean that’s kinda wild — and the silver accent on the top? That’s pretty chic. And then there’s the colors inside. Six Make Up For Ever Eye Shadows in Bronze, Khaki, Pearly Light Pink, Brown Black, Metallic Copper and Beige, and a small Aqua Eyes #0L liner in black. From more conservative beige and brown (chic) on one side, to bolder green and bronze on the other (wild!).

Available exclusively at Sephora inside JCPenney stores, the $39 palette, part of the Wild & Chic holiday 2011 collection, almost resembles something for summertime, doesn’t it? Even the colors lean warm.

If it looks like something’s off in this pic, you’re right. There’s a color missing, Bronze #84. Poor thing arrived that way in the mail, so I included a PR picture down below. Chances are that wouldn’t be a problem if you decided to adopt one of these from the store, but ya never know. Might be a good idea to check your palette, just in case.

I can’t speak about the wayward bronze, but its brethren in the palette are flawless — highly pigmented, shimmery and silkier than the fur on my favorite husky tabby (but don’t tell him I said that!).

They’re shiny enough to catch one’s eye but not so frosty that they SHOUT! Very sophisticated, yet still a lot of fun.

I think my warm NC42 skin takes well to these colors, but if you have a hard time wearing warm eyeshadows, the universally flattering colors in the Wild & Chic Best of Make Up For Ever Kit ($55) might be a better fit.

PRICE: $39
AVAILABILITY: Available now (hopefully containing all six shadows) exclusively at Sephora inside JCPenney stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (an A assuming the wayward bronze lives up to the other colors)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

LOL! Aww, poor palette, missing one of its shadows 😛 What a strange manufacturing error!

Love the colours against your skintone, but you’re right – they seem really springy. It’s a surprising colour selection to see in a Holiday collection, though I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing!

I think these are pretty but I get scared when I get near the bronze shadows – they tend to look harsh on me. I really love Makeup Forever though, I know you don’t like their foundation because it broke you out, but it’s amazing on me and I’m in love with it. I was playing with their liquid eyeliners a few days ago. Those, or the cream shadows are next on my MUF list!

Hah it’s weird and kind of silly that one of the shadows wandered off!

The colors are beautiful and look great on you! Thank you for also including swatches on a lighter skin tone!

LOL, that’s odd – I wonder were it went?

The packaging is really cool, and that liner is super pigmented. 🙂

Are the swatches on NW25 skin your husband’s? ^_^

So nice of him to help (if that’s his arm).

I’d love to try MUFE shadows in a palette like this. Hoping they create a palette in the future with some cool shades as I don’t think these colors would work on me.

How strange that you were missing that shadow! Maybe it was the “wild” one in the bunch. 😛

Wait. I can’t tell which one is missing. I feel so retarded…I’ve looked at all the pics multiple times and can’t tell a difference. *face palm*
