The Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection Takes Eyes From Bedroom to Boardroom

January 16th, 2013 by Karen 60 Comments

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eyeshadow Collection
Wearing the new $36 Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection for spring 2013

Double entendre much? Too Faced obviously had something in mind with this palette. What do you suppose that was, hmm…

Something naughty! Um, naughty like, it’s the holidays, right after Thanksgiving dinner, and the supposedly family-friendly movie you rented to watch on TV with your in-laws has a steamy scene in it, and you want to cover your eyes and run out of the room screaming, or just disappear into the couch cushions and perhaps never return…

That kind of naughty. 🙂

The names are naughty! Fuzzy handcuffs, hello? Sugar Walls? Um, you have to be a child of the ’80s to truly understand the naughtiness of that one, LOL!

Too Faced calls it the Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection. That’s where they were going, and that’s where they got. Sultry eyes, smokey eyes, lots of smudgy, “come hither” eyes. Those are the looks you’ll be rocking with these shadows.

Too Faced Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eyeshadow Collection

The larger pans on the left are the designated lid shades. Like most Too Faced palettes, this one comes with a little booklet with ideas for ways to work it.

Too Faced divided the colors into three rows. The top one for Day looks, the middle for Classic looks (like from the office to an after-work party), and the last row for Fashion looks, otherwise known as your more adventurous side (note: the darkest color in the palette lives here).

I actually mix and match the colors together because I’m crazy like that. 🙂 Rules are meant to be broken, right? (Although I’ve never cut off the tags from a mattress.)

Swatches from the left: In The Buff, Fuzzy Handcuffs, Voulez-Vous, Satin Sheets, Sugar Walls, Garter Belt, Birthday Suit, Lap Dance and French Tickler

In terms of value, I think Too Faced has a great one here. The pans seem pretty big, and when I hold the palette in the palm of my hand, it’s a lot bigger than my iPhone.

Didn’t have any problems with fallout or with blending any of these shades, either, and none of the colors are throwaways. Not a one. Every single color makes sense to me. Nothing too goofy or scary. The Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection is for girls who just like straight-up pretty makeup (like me).

I’ve been wearing these colors with my NARS primer (to smooth my lids, intensify the colors and extend their wear time). I haven’t tried them without primer yet, but with primer, the colors make it through most of the day. When I go to remove them before bed, I see a little creasing and fading, but not much.

I’ve just gotten into Too Faced and I love their palettes which I think are perfect for travel. For someone on the go like me, this is so convenient for both day and night looks. 🙂

    The colors look really pretty!

I’m curious though, do they have strong purple tone in real life? Most swatches I’ve seen made them look like they do, but your swatches don’t.

I’m totally considering getting it if there’s not much purple tone in the colors 😀

I have this palette myself and I would not say the entire palette is purple toned. However, two shades in the palette are actually described as purples. The right most shade in the top row is a plum. I believe the center shade on the bottom row is also described as a lilac. But it’s actually more of a purple tinged taupe to me. Hope that helps!!

I was just about to say the same thing. 🙂

The purple your seeing in swatches could be a number of different things. Sometimes using flash photography changes colors. And other times, a person’s undertones can bring out certain shades.

Lol, I know it won’t last a whole year. I actually bought one eyeshadow already, the new Bare Minerals The Next Big Thing (I love it to death) but I technically didn’t buy it. I got a Naked 2 palette for Christmas in my stocking from my mom in law and of course I already have it so I exchanged it for BM. There are 2 new Urban Decay palettes coming out on Jan 25th for Oz the great movie and I already know I need to buy one of them 🙂 Have you heard about those?

Pretty! I haven’t found a Too Faced palette I love, unfortunately. I have Natural at Night, but the glitter is SO chunky in many shades, and the Romantic Eye palette, but half the colors are too cool for me. I am tempted by this but a bit scared since it is Too Faced. Though I do love my Poodle Puff and Boy Toy duos.

      Hi Lauren,

The only really glittery shade in this is French Tickler, and it’s not too overly gritty. I’ve tried quite a few of their palettes and they seem to have really stepped up their game within the last year. You might want to give this one a swatch… it’s really fun.

Hope you’re having a great week so far! Sending you sunshine from California…

Wow Too Faced… The names are in the same vein as Nars. Told my Hubby that I was wearing Orgasm on my cheeks and he gave me the raised eyebrows and coy smile!

Can anyone tell me if the lids shades are matte? Satin? Shimmery? I love the colors, but can’t wear shimmer on certain areas on my eyes. Would love this for travel.

      Hi Rose,

In the Buff is a matte beige. Satin Sheets is a shimmery pinkish gold; it’s closer to a high-shine satin than a straight up frost. Birthday Suit, the shimmery taupe, also has a similar finish. I’m pretty picky about shimmers, too, and I really liked these a lot.
