This Is BIG: The Tips at Both Ends of the Estèe Lauder Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon Duo in White Sands/Molten Lava Are BIG!

It doesn’t look like the trend toward super-sized makeup is leaving the building any time soon, and generally, that’s fine by me (as long as prices don’t rise and the products still fit in my purse).

There’s also something to be said for the ability to spot these oversized products from half a mile away, like the jumbo tips attached to both ends of Estèe Lauder’s $24 Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon Duo in White Sands/Molten Lava.

Dang, those things are huge!

Estèe Lauder Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayon Duo in White Sands/Molten Lava hails from the new Bronze Goddess Capri summer collection.

I’ve been applying eyeliner for years and have a good deal of experience under my belt, but I am still a little afraid of poking an eye out with these gargantuan things…

(NOTE: It doesn’t come with a sharpener, but there is one sold separately for $6.)

All kidding aside, these pencils do have some pretty cool perks. I love the creamy, smooth formula of the Molten Lava tip. It just glides along my lash and water lines.

And I really like the color. It’s not just a simple dark brown. There’s a hint of purple in it, too, making it a nice departure from the golden brown liners I’ve been wearing a lot as of late.

Smudged along my lash and water lines, it lasts about six hours, and I swear it makes my brown eyes look a little more chocolatey.

The tip on the other end, White Sands? — well, I think it’s just okay. It doesn’t feel anywhere near as smooth as Molten Lava does to me (or last as long). And the color even looks a little patchy and uneven…

So, one side of this pencil fires me up, but the other side kinda lets me down. On balance, though, I think it’s still pretty good.

PRICE: $24

Spring forward!

I almost forgot! I was waiting in line at Target the other night when I overheard someone mention the return of Daylight Savings Time this Sunday.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already that time…

I used to love Daylight Savings when I was a kid because it meant having that extra hour of daylight to play outside in the afternoons. Now, I still like the extra sunlight, but not so I can play outside. Now I like it for running errands and doing things like grocery shopping…

Funny how things change. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh wow, those are thick. I’d be afraid they’d be too unwieldy. Then again, I really like the swatches.

      Hi Trisha,

The tips are scary big! I love the color of the brown shade, though.

Got any exciting plans for the weekend?

Molten Lava is such a unique color! These chubby pencils remind me of the new L’Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Liner, which I’m really liking a lot 🙂

      Hi Appu,

I know! I love how it has just a touch of purple to keep things interesting.

Good to know about the new L’Oreal pencils! Have you found any must-have colors?

I’ll agree that they remind me of the L’Oreal Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliners – I have one in brown – I like it pretty well, pretty good staying power, and it came with a sharpener.

I always like it when brands include a sharpener (makes it that much easier!). Does the one for the L’Oreal pencil sharpen the tip so that it stays long and scary?

yup, still big and scary! I just went and tested it because I hadn’t actually used the sharpener yet!

Molten Lava looks gorgeous. Too bad the liner looks so intimidating. Let us know if you find a dupe!
