The New Tom Ford Lip Color Shines in Action

February 27th, 2013 by Karen 19 Comments

Tom Ford Lip Color Shine Photos, Swatches, Review
Wearing the new Tom Ford Lip Color Shine in Willful ($48), one of 10 shades from the new Lip Color Shine collection available now at Tom Ford counters and online

Ever since Tabs won the Oscar for his starring role in Lincoln’s Cat (“A cinematic tour de force,” according to Entertainment Weekly), things have been a little hectic around here. Please note: when the pet you assist wins a major acting award, expect to be on call 24/7 for at least three weeks.

Le sigh…

I couldn’t leave you in the lurch, though, so when Tabs finally granted me a much-needed break today, I snuck in some me time with the new Tom Ford Lip Color Shines. 🙂

The new line of 10 creamy, lightweight lipsticks in neutral, pink and bright shades offers semi-sheer coverage and hydration like WHOA (Tom Ford loaded them with moisturizing ingredients like soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil).

The neutrals include rosy nude Nubile, light tan Abandon and beige Bare.

Pink pouts more your thing? You might like blush pink Chastity, honeysuckle pink Smitten, light bluish pink Quiver, peachy pink Frolic or apricot pink Insidious.

Two brights round out the collection — orangey red Willful and hot pink Ravenous.

A few pics of five of the 10 shades in action…

Some quick observations:

  • To me, these look and feel like slightly thicker Chanel Rouge Coco Shines.
  • While they won’t make it through a meal, as long as I’m just chillin’, they will last from 2-3 hours.
  • My muffin top quite enjoys the faint buttery scent and flavor, yum!

You can find the Lip Color Shines for $48 each (I know!) now at Tom Ford Beauty counters at Bergdorf Goodman stores, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and online.

My gosh–so pretty! My eye was immediately drawn to Insidious (of course) but also, surprisingly loving Willful! It’s brighter than I’m used to wearing but in a wearable way. That would look SO pretty for spring/summer!! I am a little unsure about the texture though…thicker than Rouge Coco Shines? I already thought they were a bit too thick for my liking (MUCH prefer Burberry’s Lip Mists), but I may have to still give these a try!! 😀

What are you wearing on your eyes? It looks like such a fresh, glowy bronzey-gold!

Thank you so much for the lovely review Karen! I was really curious about these. They look lovely but I’m not too sure if I would get one myself. I think I’m just more of a more opaque lipstick kinda gal, hehe. The formula sounds lovely tho! ^^

I like Willful the most! Insidious looks like my thing too, but I’m not too sure it’ll show up on my pigmented lips. You look so fresh and young in these photos, Karen!

Willful is nice. But no way in this world will I ever pay that much for a lipstick!
Also, gurrrrl, your hair is GOR-G-EOUS!!!

Love the look with Willful! The shade is very flattering with your makeup and skin tone. What blush and finishing powder did you use in the pics?

These look wonderful, but for $48 I much prefer Chanel Rouge Coco Shines or Burberry Lip Mists.

I’m really surprised that the wear time isn’t longer! That’s really short for such an expensive product. The majority of shades are pretty close to my natural color anyways, so luckily for my wallet I’m not really drawn to these.

Sometimes i have to stop myself from reading a blog post just because i know how expensive the product it is (for me). Must not tempt myself!

      Hi Ankita,

Yup, that’s one great thing about Tom Ford. It feel luxurious from top to bottom.

When you said “feel like slightly thicker Chanel Rouge Coco Shines” does that mean TF is more balmy in texture? I agree w/ the yumm factor.. I love the smell of TF lipstick/gloss.

Karen, those colors don’t seem worth the dough, but you have the lovliest bone structure and are so photogenic!
