Too Faced Added a Bushel of Berries — Yes, for Spring — to Their Moisturizing La Creme Lipstick Line

February 5th, 2013 by Karen 22 Comments

Too Faced Loganberry Swatch
Here I’m wearing the new Too Faced $21 La Creme Lipstick in berry pink Loganberry, one of four new berry shades available now at Too Faced counters and online at toofaced.com

Berries in the springtime? Absolutely! Why not? 🙂

Too Faced just added four new shades to their deliciously creamy and potently pigmented La Creme Lipstick line, and if you love berry shades, your makeup bag runneth over with good luck.

Too Faced Bumbleberry, Loganberry, So Berry Sexy and Teddy Berry La Creme Shades for Spring 2013

I’ve had a thing for these high-shine, full-coverage La Creme lippies ever since they dropped on Too Faced counters last summer, and I like this new batch of berries as well.

Things in the plus column…

  • They apply smoothly — no skipping to my Lou, my darlin’ — and don’t settle into my fine lip lines (yay!)
  • One layer lasts from 3-4 hours
  • The super moisturizing, lightweight formula puts a smile on my dry winter lips

And maybe it’s just my freakish sense of smell (El Hub compares it to a bloodhound’s), but I swear that Too Faced tweaked the scent with this batch. I could be wrong, but I get a whiff of marshmallows and lemons? And less of the licorice than I get from the other shades.

It sounds like a strange combination, I’ll give you that, but somehow, it works (least I think so).

If the sound of the scent has you concerned, for what it’s worth, it doesn’t last. After a minute or so with it on, I can barely detect it.

And in case you were wondering, nope, these are unflavored. No traces of the marshmallow or lemon (or licorice) in the taste department.

If you live in a hot climate, you’re lucky! 🙂 That, and you’ll want to be a little careful with these, as they just may melt. I probably wouldn’t leave a tube sitting in a hot car for long…

I’m a little surprised (but not at all disappointed) that Too Faced decided to release these shades now, this time of year, as I’m used to seeing berry lip shades more often in the fall, but hey, why not, right? These shades play well with the purples and taupes in Too Faced’s spring palette, the Boudoir Eyes Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection, so sign me up!

PRICE: $21 each (available in 20 total shades)
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Too Faced counters and online at toofaced.com

I have yet to try these, but Bumbleberry and Teddy Berry might encourage me further. They sound great and have some really beautiful colors.

I like your top I know it is out of subject but is really pretty.
Ion the swatches on your arms I can clearly see difference, but on your lips it looks pretty similar

Love these, but do they still have any anise/licorice scent? Because that’s a dealbreaker.

These look really great – I’m a sucker for berries. Bumbleberry and Teddy Beary are right up my alley. Plus, moisturizing AND avoids fine lines? What’s not to love? And since I don’t live in a warm climate, I’m less concerned about the melting. Maybe freezing. 🙂

Pretty! And I love the packaging. I think these are a great release for spring (and they look stellar on you!). I don’t think I’d mind the marshmallow scent but not so much licorice.

how would you compare these to the Clarins Rouge Eclat lippies you reviewed a few days ago? In terms of texture and moisturizing etc? Clearly the color range is VERY different. Just wondering if they are similar formula.

I agree that it’s odd to have berry colors in the spring… and I still can’t fathom the idea of putting on a dark lip color!

I love Too Faced La Creme. Really, really love. Honey Bear and Nude Beach are both HG products for me.

But I swatched these in store and I am so disappointed. The images on their website made me expect something much more grape or violet-berry than raspberry colored. And one of these (Loganberry, I think, but I could be wrong) swatched very close to Honey Bear on my pale olive Puerto Rican skin. 🙁 I can’t believe I’m so upset I don’t want to buy one of these.

Ahhh! I love these — completely with you on the surprise that these are part of the Spring collection, and (also like you,) I am SO on board with this decision 😀
