Does Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16-Hour Blush Hit All the Right Notes?

July 13th, 2015 by Karen 39 Comments

♥ Love is in the air ♥ with the new $26 Too Faced Love Flush Blushes in Baby Love, How Deep Is Your Love, I Will Always Love You, Justify My Love, Love Hangover, and Your Love Is King

The new $26 Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting 16-Hour Blushes are named after famous love songs (aw!), and one of them is called I Will Always Love You.

So, of course, I’m wondering which version.

Of the song.

The one by Whitney Houston or the one by Dolly Parton?

Wearing Too Faced Love Flush Blush in I Will Always Love You on my cheeks…

I get chills whenever I hear Whitney’s powerful version, but I’ve always kind of preferred Dolly’s sadder, sweeter rendition because…you know, that’s kind of like how love is, right? Sweetness mixed with a bit of sadness?

But I digress…

In this case, it’s mostly sweetness, because with all the bunnies, hearts and flowers, this blush is quite possibly the cutest darned thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Possibly even cuter than a teal rainbow pegasus or a tabby’s fluffy tum.

This girlie gang of long-wearing blushes is the latest to join the Too Faced permanent collection. They’re designed to last 16 hours, thereby eliminating the need to reapply throughout the day, and therefore leaving you with more free time to break hearts, chase dreams, make it rain and whatnot.

Choose from six seductive shades in plummy rose Your Love Is King, watermelon pink How Deep Is Your Love, warm pink Love Hangover, shimmery golden peach I Will Always Love You, golden bright pink Justify My Love and dusty golden nude Baby Love, and in true Too Faced fashion, the blushes are cruelty free and made without parabens, sulfates and pthalates.

These finely milled powders sure look sweet and natural on cheeks, which is great, but I’ll just come out and say it — they don’t last 16 hours on me.

With most of them I only need one or two layers because they’re very pigmented, and that will last five and six hours on my combination dry/oily cheeks, which in the grand scheme of blush wear times is solidly average.

I don’t really mind, though, because having to reapply means being able to see the bunnies on the pans. 🙂 (Even though I have a hard time opening the compacts due, in part, to my T. rex claws).

It’s not a deal-breaker, but they are 26 bucks…so a 16-hour wear time would have been nice.

Does anybody else think that these would’ve also been cool if they were shaped like actual hearts, like with the left and right ventricles and all the arteries and valves up in the mix?!

C’mon, science nerds. Back me up! That would have been so rad! 🙂

PRICE: $26 each
AVAILABILITY: Permanent, and available now online and at Too Faced counters in six shades
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B (I think they’re easy to use and natural-looking, but I’d love a longer wear time)

But I will always love you…

GURL, you know I had to post this video. This one has a short intro with Dolly talking, and then a live version of the song.

Heads up — don’t listen to this if you’re PMS-ing and/or if you’re looking into your 9-year-old cat’s eyes and wishing he’d live forever, because you might start bawling.

In other news, have I ever told you about my obsession with Dolly Parton?? She’s such a prolific songwriter and obviously into makeup and hair, and she says funny things in interviews, like one I remember in Vanity Fair when someone asked her, “What is your idea of perfect happiness?” and Dolly said, “A big loaded baked potato and a good book with the time to eat it and read it.”

HAHA!

I want to hang out with her and talk shop about beauty and writing.

If you feel so inclined, here are a couple of her interviews…

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. I hope you had a nice Monday.

Dolly is too funny and quirky and adorable. That baked potato quote just made me love her even more! These are so adorbs. Baby Love is just my cup o’ tea, but it probably looks like every other pinky brown blush I already own (Tarte Exposed seems pretty similar?) – but damn, I might get it anyway! 🙂 I love your rainbow pegasus! I have the purple one, which I just had to look up to find the name. Behold: Twilight Sparkle! LOL!
    Beauts pictures as always, K!

Yeah, I think Exposed has a similar vibe. 🙂 My rainbow pegasus is named technically named “Rainbow Dash” but I call her Charlie. Have a great week, Kristen!

Ha! Charlie! I like that. It’s got spunk. Twilight Sparkle is a bit too fancy for daily living. I think I’ll call her Michonne, instead. 😉

I love Dolly’s way of thinking about herself and beauty “It takes a lot of money to look this cheap” or “If anyone tells you your hair is too big, get rid of them. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life”. Also I prefer Dolly’s version but this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_utP1mGoutQ even though I don’t which movie it is.

Oh, Dolly! My all-time favorite quote from Dolly is: It takes a lotta money to look this cheap! And Dolly’s “Jolene” is syncopation supreme!

I gotta vote for Dolly’s version as the slow tear-jerker but Whitney’s heart-wrencher is good until she gears up for the fortissimo!!o–o–o!!

The Baby Love here (aka Bridget) is doing fine after tearing her ACL. Yes, The Baby Love has a sports injury. Do you know she can run on 3 legs! Quite a feat for those feet!

I do not see me wearing any of these blushes, especially the How Deep Is Your Love because that one reminds me of the dude who kept asking me, “Why do you have to be so deep?” And I replied, “Because you’re so shallow!”

Well, maybe Justify My Love would work for a NW-20/25 gal who doesn’t like to have to justify anything. It looks a lot like Clinique Cheek Pop in Pansy, which I own and love, not that I am a pansy!!

And you’re no pansy either, woman of a certain age!

Even though I have a rather large blush collection, (I’m too scared to count!) I don’t think I have something similar to “Justify My Love”. I’m making a Sephora run Thursday AND Friday (Why can’t UD Smoky and Bite Frozen Berries be released on the same day?!) so I’ll have to swatch this when I’m there. 🙂

If I chose by song title, I´d go with “How deep is your love”. My guilty pleasure is singing along loud in the car. Mr. Loca hates it.
And I guess it would be cool in a nerdy way to have them shaped like actual hearts, but they would be very, very difficult to open with all the twisting going on there.

New goal: Settle on a company to pitch the shaped-like-an-actual-heart blush idea. And make it happen.

These colors remind me an awful lot of Tarte’s blushes (remember a few years back when they were all the rage?!). But the bunnies….sooooo cute!

Hmmmm….I think I like the Urban Decay 8-hour blushes. Same price point and seem to actually last pretty close to 8 hours. I’m not sure too many people would want to have blush on for 16 hours anyways….but this packaging is super cute. These look like giant sweet tarts 🙂

How disappointing these don’t wear better for the price! The best I’ve found for myself is Kat Von D’s blush. And Dolly is awesome! Her wit is amazing, and her recording of Jolene is still the best.

I didn’t even know who Dolly Parton WAS until I saw the movie ‘The Year Dolly Parton Was My Mom’ and I actually fell in love with her. She’s so amazing. I also listen to the soundtrack of that movie all the time because THEM FEELS.
Thanks for the great review, by the way. I’m just testing these out now and so far I adore them. I don’t ever wear makeup for 16 hours so I’m not too bummed if they don’t last on me, but it would be nice if it lasted that long anyways.
