You Can’t Rush Perfection: Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Lace Collection Nail Lacquer in Perfection

August 12th, 2010 by Karen 39 Comments

dolce gabbana sicilian lace perfection nail lacquer

First nude lips, now nude nails? — there’s a lot of nekkidness going on at Dolce & Gabbana makeup counters this fall.

Most nude nail parties feature hues based on pinks or peach, but Nail Lacquer in Perfection ($20), the lone lacquer in D&G’s six-piece Sicilian Lace collection for fall, is all about the beige.

Warm and creamy, it applies thick and dries to a high-shine finish…in about 90 minutes (!). Yep, this Perfection takes time, but that’s what hot tea (for me) and quick dry nail drops (for nails) are for. 🙂

  • I’m Sweet on Caramel: Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Lace Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Caramel
  • Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Lace Fall 2010: The Smooth Eyeshadow Quad in Nude
  • Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian Lace Collection Fall 2010

I bet Perfection would be, um, perfect for elegantly understated nail looks, but $20 seems like a lot for something this subtle. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

Try Rimmel’s Lasting Finish “Steel Gray.” You get the “greige” effect that everyone seems to be after this Fall, without the price tag.

I ordered a bunch of stuff for the first time from Zoya. They name all their nailpolishes with girl’s names. Of course, I bought “Helen” just because. And whaddaya know, it is EXACTLY Helen-colored! Nude nails, here I come! (And for some reason, it just DOESN’T chip on me. Ever. 3 weeks later and it’s fine!

Zoya makes great stuff! Have you seen their Color Lock system kit? I use it all the time and I love it.

Is it boring that I love nude cosmetics? And heels! 🙂

Totally not boring! I think it’s a look not a lot of people can pull off…

BTW, I love nude heels too. 🙂 My current favorite pair are these nude L.A.M.B. pumps that I can barely walk in.

whoaa I love this nude color. I would never buy this though. In 90 minutes, I would probably manage to dent every single nail.

That’s a nice shade but 90 minutes is too much to wait for me. I can’t keep my hands still for more than 5 minutes so I often get my nail polish messed up soon after I apply it. I don’t dare to think in what state my nails would be if I had to wait 90 minutes for it to dry lol

LOL, it’s not so bad if you do something relatively stationary while the color is drying, like watch a movie!

Wow… you sure you weren’t the muse for this collection?? 😉

Did you try a fast-dry topcoat on the polish? I have had pretty good luck with Poshe, which is not at all hard to get your hands on.

I thought I loved nude nails so I bought an Essie colour (can’t remember the name) that looks exactly like this! It matched my skin almost exactly. I hated it at the time because it looked like I had no nail and just…really long, nailless fingers. But after seeing this on you, I might give it a second try. Weekend manicure here I come!

This is a very essie color, right? Good luck with the mani this weekend… may you have no dents or chips!

Wow! That color is gorgeous on you, Karen– mannequin hands! But 90 minutes? I don’t think I could do it! I manage to dent my nails when they dry in ten minutes.

This does look really nice on you, but thick and long dry time are killers for me. Oh, and the price, of course. 🙂 I haven’t done a beige nude in forever on my nails. It’s almost always a sheer pink for me!

color looks great on you. boo @ it taking long to dry. good thing i have sally hansen insta-dry top coat. still, i would be getting this because there’s nothing insanely unique about this for me to shell out $20 for it.

I use that top coat too! I <3 it, last time I checked it was the cheapest fast-dry topcoat that works. And it is shiny. Could it be shiny-er? Yes, but it is still pretty darn shiny.

90 minutes? I guess this polish is for true ladies of leisure. 🙂 Seems like I can barely find time to throw some polish and a quick-dry coat on my nails!

My in-laws arrived late last night! They’re still on Hawaii time so I have about an hour left before they’re up and about. I still have no idea what to feed ’em, LOL… Tabs is all freaked out by his “grandparents” right now.

What’s going on with you? Any exciting plans for the weekend?

There maaaaay be a new kitty in my house by this evening! We fell in love with one I found online and I am speeding over to the shelter in a couple hours to see if she is still there! If all goes well, I will take Monday off to let her adjust to us some more.

If I don’t come home with a kitty, I’m coming home with chocolate cake and drowning my sorrows in it the rest of the weekend!

Nude polish… I might just try it. That way, if it chips it won’t be as noticeable. But $20 for a bottle of nail polish that takes forever to try? No thanks. And that 90 was WITH drying drops? Double no thanks!!!

I’ll stick with my Essie and use my Good to Go top coat.

Nude nail polish is definitely something to try! Nude lipstick is always a nice way to polish a look, so why not nude nail polish? You can never go wrong with neutrals, they’re ability to mix and match with makes them a staple for any fashionable look.

I LOVE flesh toned/nude/beige nails because they make my short, stubby nails look longer and are very forgiving when they chip. I’ve got a bunch of favorites:

CND Desert Suede (seen on alot of designer runways this year which is how I found it)
MAC Blissed Out (gorgeous but chips easily)
Rescue Beauty Lounge Sheer Nude (which is strangely named, as it’s opaque, lol)
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Choco-Latte & Nude Now

I really like nude or almost nude nails. They look subtly elegant yet understated. I have MAC Light Affair that I wish was a bit more opaque.

BTW mad props on waiting 90 minutes to dry! I would never have waited that long even though it is such a nice shade.
