The archives. As I’m sure you’re aware, our benefactor here on Makeup and Beauty Blog is world-renowned kitty supermodel/entrepreneur Tabs the Cat, star of stage, screen and printed glossy magazines, and the CFO (Chief Feline Officer) of Tabs the Cat Industries, LLC, a Feline Fortune 500 company.

3 Ways to Wear MAC’s Devil May Dare

Today Kristen of Sugar Social shows us a few choice ways to wear MAC Devil May Dare.

MAC’s Devil May Dare eye palette, part of the Magic, Mirth, and Mischief! holiday ’09 collection, is a versatile palette stocked with six eyeshadows that can be worn on virtually any skin tone. Reasonably priced at $36, it’ll carry you through the winter (and beyond) with an endless variety of day/evening eye looks like these.

But first, the shades! 🙂

These looks can also be created with shadows from MAC’s permanent collection. Below is a list of substitutes for each shade in Devil May Dare.

  • Oh My Darling: Shroom
  • Dare Ya: Pink Venus or Da Bling
  • Sorcery: Embark
  • Gold Tease: Gleam, Motif, or Flip
  • Prankster: Greensmoke
  • Devilishly Dark: Sketch or Cranberry

Daytime Look #1: Au Naturel

This look is perfect for ladies who prefer something demure. It sculpts and polishes the eye without looking overly makeup-y. The shimmer in the shadows illuminates without over-depositing color. Best of all, it’s super easy and quick.

  1. Dip a flat shadow brush (like MAC 213 Fluff Brush) in Oh My Darling (the shade used as the base for all the eye looks shown here). Sweep the shadow from your lashline up to the brow bone.
  2. Dip the same brush in Dare Ya, a light pink that appears neutral on most skin tones. Cover the lid with it, extending just past the outer corner of the eye. The shade looks fabulous on ladies with darker skin tones. I think it illuminates the eye without overpowering the look.

Daytime Look #2: Fresh and Pretty

For those who want a finished eye with more intense (but still daytime-appropriate) color, give this look a whirl. It’s pretty and fun — not overly dark around the eye. Those who are averse to dark eyeshadow may like it as an evening look.

    2. Good but a little tired… I had a knot in my stomach last week (from house hunting), but I feel better now.

  2. What’s one eye makeup tool or product that you couldn’t live without?

    3. I’ve always *loved* the Shu Uemura lash curler.

  3. What do you want to be when you grow up?

    4. LOL, what didn’t I want to be? I wanted to be an astronomer, an archaeologist a veterinarian — so many things! As much as I love them, my parents kinda discouraged a lot of different career paths. It’s weird, but among Filipino families there are basically only three vocations of which parents approve: doctor, nurse or engineer, LOL!

  4. What are some words you try to live by?

    5. Years ago my friend Dave said to me, “When you fall down, pick yourself up, brush yourself off and keep moving forward.” 🙂

  5. Eyes/lips/cheeks:

    6. It’s mostly Urban Decay in the hizz today! Eyes: Sin Eyeshadow Primer Potion, the Ammo Palette shadows in Sin and Smog, Deluxe Eyeshadow in Freakshow, 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Underground, Skyscraper Multi-Benefit Mascara. Lips: Naked Lipstick and 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Wallflower. Cheeks: the Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint & Burnish.

  6. Have you ever had a REALLY BAD perm?

    7. Unfortunately, yes. When Grandma went to beauty school she practiced on me and my mom. Thankfully, I was only six at the time.

  7. What was the highlight of your weekend?

    8. Dinner with El Hub on Saturday night.

  8. What’s your current favorite fragrance?

    9. Benefit My Place Or Yours Gina.

    10. Purple tank top, jeans and a tan blazer.

  10. Weekly goals:

    11. Record what I eat in my food journal (I’m trying to watch my calorie intake), donate clothes to Goodwill, take Tabs to the vet, try to keep my desk clean, and start doing push-ups.
