When Tabs gets dreamy-eyed and gazes off toward a tree filled with fluttering finches, or he closes his eyes and tastes the breeze with his tongue (he looks especially dreamy when he does this), I wonder what he’s thinking about.
Does he daydream about gravy? Is he listening to one bird’s particular song? Is he counting down the seconds till he has to go back inside the house? Is he reminding himself to live in the now?
I wish I knew, because I’d love to be able to give him more of what he likes.
When he’s napping and his little paw is twitching in REM sleep, I wonder if he’s dreaming about chasing birds, or bygone summer days when all he had to do was hang out on his hill and pounce at the occasional mouse, while he waited for me to get home from work.
I know he’s dreaming about something. I just wish I knew what it was.

Tabs looks so regal in the one of his tummy flashing. My Sandy girl climbs up on the counters to get her box of crunchies and claws it to shreds. I bet she wishes she had thumbs for the scissors and dreams about neverending access to food 24/7.
She probably does! I bet she’s thinking of a plan right now.
My cat Coco sometimes twitches and flicks her paws so hard when she’s dreaming that she actually wakes herself up. I think she dreans about lying in the sun on a warm day watching the bees and butterflies going about their business … or maybe her favourite biscuits!

I think Tabs is probably dreaming about appearing on the next cover of Vogue…My Freya most likely dreams about hunting insects – her favourite sport. We’ve noticed that when Odin’s asleep, he stretches out one front leg in front of him. It must be the one he uses to hold his runic spear when he’s riding in his chariot…
Freya would have a field day in our house then! We’ve been having epically hot weather, which brings the bugs out. I found a dead moth in my bathroom this morning; chances are Tabs used it for sport in the middle of the night.
She would love that, but she would have crunched it up and eaten it!
It’s funny because one of my dogs, Rosie, makes a lot of muffled barking-type sounds when she’s dreaming, as well as flexing her paws as if she’s running. Funny because she really doesn’t bark much in her waking life, so it makes me wonder what she’s barking at while she’s asleep.

I think Tabs is very content and you’re giving him lots of what he loves. 🙂 Agreed on the hunting dreams; kitties never get tired of chasing and hunting!
