This Summer Skin Routine Will Get You Glowing, Sexy, and Glam

June 8th, 2016 by Anna Oh 12 Comments

summer-skin-8

It’s been hot here in Georgia lately…like SO hot that I’m running to my car now, yet despite the heat and sun, my legs refuse to tan, no matter how many skirts and dresses I wear. I think my legs might be invincible, guys, LOL!

To combat my blindingly white legs, I’ve been using a bronzing oil, Too Faced Royal Oil Coconut Oil Body Bronzer, and I think it may be a go-to this summer.

But that’s not the first step in my summer skin routine.

It all starts with the bath…

I finally get it… Baths are great. In my new home, I finally have a separate bathtub to relax and lounge in, and the new Shea Moisture “African Water Mint and Ginger” products inspire me to make time for them.

I start with a capful of African Water Mint & Ginger Detox Bubble Bath & Body Wash ($9.99) in the bath. It’s not SUPER soapy — which I like — so there’s no need to jump into the shower to rinse off.

But hands down, my favorite product of the set is the African Water Mint & Ginger Detox Hand & Body Scrub ($9.99). I love the feeling of the sugar breaking down as I rub it into my skin. I feel squeaky clean AND moisturized at the same time because of the oils and shea butter in the formula.

Before I hop out of the bath, I’ll quickly finish up with the African Water Mint & Ginger Detox & Refresh Hair & Scalp Gentle Shampoo ($10.99) and African Water Mint & Ginger Detox & Refresh Hair & Scalp Conditioner ($10.99).

The conditioner doesn’t wow me (it’s very thick and lotion-y), but the shampoo makes my scalp feel brand new. I use it once or twice a week to combat the hot, humid hair situation (you know — life in the South).

Ready for This Jelly? A Quickie Tutorial With the Too Faced Peanut Butter Palette

May 3rd, 2016 by Anna Oh 13 Comments

Peanut Butter Jelly Time!

The first time I heard about the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly eye shadow palette ($36), I thought it was a joke. Like, a really good “Man, that would be so amazing!”-type joke.

But then I found out that it’s real!

I’ve been testing it out this past week, and there is nothing funny about how good this palette is. For lovers of warm sienna eyeshadows, it’s irresistable.

I kind of love that little peanut butter face with purple lips on the cover… She’s my muse!

At first I thought some of the colors might be too warm (like Nuts About You), but I decided to just go for it. I think the results are flattering and a little more interesting than a run-of-the-mill neutral eye look.

I call this look “Just Like Honey,” and it uses the warmest colors in the palette with lots of blending. Since it’s a monotone look, there’s room to play with the lip colors, but I highly recommend a purple or a bright pink matte lipstick. I’m wearing Too Faced La Matte Color Drenched Matte Lipstick in Pitch Perfect ($22).

There really are no true duds in this palette. Jammin’ and Spread the Love aren’t quite as strong as the others and feel harder in their pans, but they’re still completely workable and show up nicely on the lids. The rest of the shades all feel buttery and smooth and make this palette an overall winner.

Hope you enjoyed this look and quickie tutorial! Let me know if you have this palette and have a look to recommend. Unfortunately, as of right now, it looks it’s already sold out on Too Faced, Sephora, and Ulta. But don’t let that stop you from using a comparable palette, like the permanent collection Semi-Sweet.

See you in the next,

Anna

A Bronzed Babe Face of the Day With Too Faced, Estee Lauder, Hourglass and More

Too Faced Chocolate Bronzers

I’m in shorts right now! So let’s chat about bronzers!

I recently created a look inspired by Diane Von Furstenberg’s Spring-Summer 2016 makeup because I wanted to challenge myself to finally use some colorful eyeshadow. And…I loved it! I can’t wait to experiment with more colors now, and I would love your suggestions for eyeshadow looks!

Anyways, besides the bright color on the lids, the focus of my look was all on the tanned skin. I used two different bronzers to get a multi-dimensional effect. I grabbed the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Bronzer in 02 Medium ($37 for .74oz!!!) and dusted this all over the perimeter of my face and the tops of my cheeks. This is my favorite bronzer, and I use it all-year! It’s not completely matte, so it blends into skin perfectly.

Finally, I finished with the Too Faced Bronzer in Chocolate Soleil ($30 for .35oz) right in the hollows of my cheeks.

Too Faced La Crème Color Drenched Lipstick Swatches

March 28th, 2016 by Jen Clark 32 Comments

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipsticks

We live in a world filled with uncomfortably drying matte lipsticks.

They are EVERYWHERE!

But I took a much-needed break from the discomfort with the Cruelty Free Lipsticks by Too Faced this week, and let me tell ya, it felt gooood.

These lipsticks are smooth and balmy with a surprising color payoff. Normally, when I go for moisture and comfort, the appearance takes a hit, but not this time! Even with nasty, cracked lips with dry patches (I have notoriously dry lips, mm yummy), these smooth over the top and make them look a lot better than they did, and I appreciate the heck out of that.

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipsticks

There are 22 gorgeous shades to choose from, 10 of them being brand-spankin’ new! There are a couple of perfect nudes, some amazing pinks, and even some stunning darker vamp-y shades.

I just have to gush over the packaging for a sec… Ugh, it feels so luxurious! There’s something about a heavily weighted golden lipstick tube that just makes you feel a little bit better about life, and I love to wear these partly for the experience of putting them on.

I doubt that I’m the only one who feels that way, or at least, I hope I’m not the only one who gets that excited about lipstick. 🙂

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipsticks

Now, I’m just going to warn you, but beware of the shades with glitter/shimmer in them, and there are quite a few, because this is not a subtle glitter. I’m talking, I felt like I could have been the sixth member of the Spice Girls. You may now call me Shimmer Spice.

I’m not saying I hate them. In fact, part of me loves them! Just make sure you’re aware that they pack a punch if you plan to order online. Take a peek at the swatches down below if you want to see what I’m talking about, although it’s not as obvious as it is in real life.

Need a Lift? Score Lashes That Soar Sky High With the New Too Faced Lash Injection Extreme Tubing Mascara

July 6th, 2012 by Karen 9 Comments

too faced cosmetics lash injection extreme volume tubing mascara

It occurred to me this morning as I was dressing up my lashes with a layer of Too Faced Lash Injection Extreme Volume Tubing Mascara that I could (and often do) spend entire days playing with eye makeup.

Entire days.

A few hours patting primer here, a few more drawling liner there, shadow blending, blending, blending, and then the sun sets behind Novato’s verdant hills in the distance…

Of course, I do take breaks for tabby play time and pasta (of course!). 🙂

Naturally, good chunks of time are devoted to applying mascara, since my natural lashes are a little on the uninspiring side, and I feel like my eyes look much bigger and brighter when I’ve lifted, curled and lengthened my lashes.

My latest lash love stars Too Faced Lash Injection Extreme Volume Tubing Mascara.

Whew! Now that’s a mouthful.

Too Faced reformulated their old-school mascara of the same name and gave it a new outfit. It’s $21 and available in a single shade called Black.

If you’re unfamiliar with tubing mascaras, no, they are not named after the popular pastime that usually involves bodies of water and coolers filled with adult beverages. They’re named after the way the formulas encapsulate lashes forming tubes that surround each hair to extend and thicken them.

Brands often claim that tubing mascaras are particularly great for humid climates as they resist flaking and smudging.

I never gave the original Lash Injection a try, so I don’t know how it compares to the new one, but Too Faced says that it’s much improved. Version 2.0 is supposed to stretch and lengthen lashes better than before.

How does it fare? Well, like a push-up bra for my fringe! Two coats of the waterproof formula applied with the included brush (in the style of a DiorShow brush) boosts my lashes with lift and length.

The formula does a pretty good job holding the curl, too, keeping it firm but flexible, and I don’t detect any smears of flakes, not even at the end of the day.

A Liner Poseidon Would Use: The New Trident Shaped 3*Way Lash Lining Tool From Too Faced Creates Thicker, Fuller Lashes

June 28th, 2012 by Karen 41 Comments

too faced 3 way lash lining tool

I need another black liquid liner like I need another reason to watch Magic Mike! — but that’s not stopping me from wanting another black liquid liner, especially a good one with the power of innovation. 🙂

Fellow liner lover, walk with me for a bit as we bat our lashes at the new 3*Way Lash Lining Tool from Too Faced ($22).

Do you suffer from chronic tardiness? (I do!) Thin lashes got you down? (Yup!)

If you answered in the affirmative to either of those inquiries, Too Faced feels they can help, and their solution takes a three-pronged approach.

The new 3*Way has a three-pronged tip — kinda like a trident — designed to create the illusion of a full lash line; the product doubles (triples?) as a liquid liner to draw both thin and thick lines, hence the name.

too faced 3 way lash lining tool tip

It works like this: starting at one end of your upper lash line, place the prongs at the base of your lashes between the roots. Gently apply pressure to dispense the liquid, stamping three black dots. Repeat along the full length of your lash line, filling in the spaces between your lashes.

When you’re done, your lash line should look a whole lot thicker.

Alternately, to use the 3*Way as a liquid liner for super skinny lines, just drag the edge of one of the three tips along your lash and water lines, or for thicker lines, like for cat eyes, make contact with all three tips placed flat.

Now, dotting liner along the base of your lashes and between the roots isn’t a new trick. Sometimes it’s referred to as “backing the lashes,” and truth be told, most any black liner, be it liquid or pencil, can deliver a similar effect.
