Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipstick: It’s a Sticky Situation

July 10th, 2017 by Karen 20 Comments

OH, MY GOSH. These new Too Faced Melted Latex high-shine lipsticks are fascinating. They are SO shiny and SO opaque, and when you wear ’em, it looks like you’re wearing patent leather on your pout.

The new line of cool, artsy, edgy lipsticks reminds me of thick, pigmented, sticky lip glosses with full-tilt coverage, and they’re available now in 16 $21 shades. Here are swatches of 14 of them.

I think they look super cool, but man! — they sure are uncomfortable. I can’t really have them on my lips for long, but not because they’re drying, because they aren’t, or because they taste or smell funny, because they don’t (they taste/smell like Hawaiian Punch, which to me is a good thing because it brings back childhood memories).

I can’t keep them on my lips because they’re just really, REALLY sticky, and really thick. Like, if you’re familiar with the MAC Lipglasses and how sticky they are, multiply that feeling by 10, and that’s how these sticky these feel.

I tried to make it through the day wearing coral Safe Word (swoon!), but I felt like I was making out with a jar of caramel all day long.

Maybe I’d wear one to a Halloween party if I were dressed up in a latex outfit like Cat Woman! Or, perhaps if I were dressed up as The World’s Least Convincing Dominatrix?

Too bad they aren´t really wearable, they look gorgeous! Maybe photoshoot material if you want the model to hate you?

These look really pretty. I like I’m Bossy on you a lot! I’m usually OK with sticky glosses, but I don’t know about these. I have to say, I’m loving the super shine after the matte lip craze that’s been going on for so long.

Girl, it feels like the matte craze has been around FOREVER. I’m kind of over it. I’m looking forward to the return of lipgloss and of non-Instagram brows. LOL!

Me, too. I’ve been digging all the metallic lippies that have been coming out, too.

Although I do enjoy a pretty, matte, retro red lipstick and always will.

Reds are always so timeless. There’s something about a vintage blue- or orange-based matte red that gets me every. Single. Time. Le sigh!

Too bad these are sticky because some of the colors are beautiful! P.S. what kind of lashes are you wearing in these photos?

      Hi Kristen,

I’m wearing House of Lashes! The style is called “Timeless.” They’re OTT for me, but they’re relatively comfortable for big lashes, and I like how they look in pictures. 🙂

As you a false lash person? I like them on occasion, although I think I have to chill out from them for a bit because I noticed a big chunk of my natural lashes missing on my right eye! I think some fell out after wearing false lashes.

Oh no! I’m always worried that when I wear falsies I’m going to accidentally pull out my real lashes haha

I’m actually looking for some lashes for my wedding! I usually wear Ardell, but I’ve heard really good things about House of Lashes, so I’ll have to check them out!

I usually soak a cotton pad with waterproof eye makeup remover, hold it on the lash band for a minute or two, then ease off the band, but I think on the day I was wearing the House of Lashes ones I was so eager to remove them that I just ripped them off and took a huge chunk out of my lash line. 🙁

I love the Ardells, by the way. Demi-wispies all the way!

I guess it is a good thing that I don’t care for liquid lipsticks. I don’t even wear lip gloss because i feel they are too sticky. The colors are pretty, but for me they are not worth it.
On another note, I got the Chanel Les Beige bronzing powder in medium when I was in the city. I am starting to like a lighter “glowy” bronzer on my face.

    Have fun today!

Oh, fun! Isn’t that bronzing powder pretty? Did they have the Les Beiges eyeshadow quad there? I wore it last weekend and got a couple compliments from my friends.

Happy Tuesday from sunny Northern California. *waves*

Safe Word is reallyyyyy pretty! I don’t find MAC Lipglass to be too bad, but 10x more sticky has me throwing up a big side eye lol

They look amazing but I wouldn’t be able to stand the sticky factor either (I’d have 6 lbs of hair stuck to my mouth all day). You know, they kind of remind me of the vinyl looking OCC. Lip tar? I think you did a green lip with one in the past.

While I’m really over the matt/dry lip trend sticky is out for me, so I won’t be trying these despite some of the pretty colors. I’m happy with a satin to glossy moist finish, even if I have to reapply my lipstick every couple of hours.

I like I’m Bossy but the stickiness ? Not sure ?
I’d have my hair sticking to my mouth ? and I never liked that !

I tried the Melted Matte Lipsticks from Too Faced and my lips disagreed with them so much that I gave up purchasing any more lipsticks from the brand. Pity these aren’t comfortable, the shades are nice.

Hi Karen! I love your blog, just wondering what face product are you using here and bronzer?
