Copper Wings on a Wednesday With Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Lucky From the Beached Collection

Red Bull isn’t the only that gives you wings!

I can’t remember the last time I wore colorful winged liner like this on a Wednesday, and you know what I did with it on? I wore it to baby story time with Connor. 🙂 Yup, and ya know how that felt? I tell you how it felt. It felt really good to wear something jazzier than usual.

I’m still committed to pushing myself out of my comfort zone, because let’s get real — I’VE BEEN STUCK, and I’ve been stuck for a while.

I’m not trying to go ham or full-on Instafabulous, but I’m sorry — I still like makeup, and I still like getting dressed up, but I’m also constrained, you know? Time is undeniably of the essence at this point in my life, so 1) I don’t have loads of time or patience, and 2) I don’t really like the way my skin feels when I’m wearing a sh*t ton of makeup.

This is the journey, and I’m up for the challenge! 🙂

On that note, here’s what happened this morning: I did this winged liner thinking that it looked massive — like big-@ss predatory hawk wings spanning across the sky and blocking the sun! — and then I took a selfie (which is easiest way to see if your wings are even, BTW) and saw that my flicks had disappeared into nothingness.

What the!? Where’d they go…?

I looked at the copper wings in the mirror (that’s Lucky, one of the new eyeliners from the Urban Decay Beached collection), and they looked pretty substantial, but they look minuscule in these pics.

You gotta get up in there to see the tiny sparkles.

Such a weird makeup mystery!

I’m still feeling the liner, though, and yes, I probably know what you’re thinking. How many times has UD done a warm metallic bronze/red/copper eyeliner?

SO MANY TIMES.

But this one has the cutest, tiniest pieces of silver micro-glitter, so you get a mixed metals vibe. It’s an out-of-the-box move, IMO, because most brands would’ve picked gold glitter to complement the copper’s warmth. So go on with your bad self, UD!

Lovin’ the little flecks

This one is strictly for your lash line because of the glitter (so no water line action), but before you go into anti-glitter mode (“I gave up on glitter when I gave up my booty shorts, WAHHH!!”) allow me to remind you that if Edward the Vampire can twinkle in the sunlight, SO CAN YOU.

The glitter bits are tiny and almost imperceptible unless someone’s all the way up in your grill, so it’s like getting a special surprise for making it that far into someone’s personal space

Congrats! You’ve made it near my eyeball! Your prize is glitter!

Oh, this just occurred to me: I think it would be cool to layer some bigger silver glitter on the tips of the wings for an ombre effect, so maybe I’ll do that later… Or maybe I won’t, because, unfortunately, and this has been happening to me a lot lately, my left eye is super teary today… I think it’s because of my allergies, which have been cray.

As usual for UD’s 24/7 Glide-On pencils, Beached liner isn’t waterproof, but it’s definitely long-lasting and won’t transfer up into your crease. It also stays put once set, which takes about a minute. So, it’s best for sharp lines with a crisp edge, like with winged liner. Just be sure to sharpen the tip first because you want that tip super sharp — like sharp enough to cause bodily harm (BUT PLEASE DON’T POKE YOUR EYE OUT).

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

You’re welcome, H. I hope you give these wings a try sometime. They’re fun! (And surprisingly daytime friendly.)

It’s a nice color and I can definitely see the glitter in your arm swatch. You always seem to be mixing it up with color and fun looks. Of course, I realize no one looks like they’re in a rut next to me but I think you do a great job of trying new things (at least they look new to me!). It’s hard to be creative every day, especially with all your other responsibilities. I’m totally giving you a ton of credit because you deserve it! 🙂

Thank you Kim for the encouragement! 🙂

I think you might like this pencil because there’s a slight orange tinge to it… I know you love a lil’ bit of orange.

Happy Thursday, by the way. My parents are coming over to help with the baby and all I have to say is YAY!

        Happy Friday!

You know, sometimes, we’re our harshest critics. It’s good to get an outside opinion. 🙂

Oh, that’s awesome – I hope you all enjoyed the day. I think it’s so great when kids have a close relationship with their grandparents. My mother is still really involved with the boys and they’d do anything for her. They would never say no to Grandma. 🙂 It comes in quite handy. HAHA!

Love this color! I have so much trouble with shimmery eyeliner though 🙁

I think this would look amazing with your hair. You could even do a bright coral red lip with it too! Maybe try a copper without the silver sparkles?

That copper wing liner looks great on you! I might pick this up. Glad you took out time in your busy day for makeup therapy.
