Evening, chicas!
Greetings from Vey-gawsh. My dark circles and I are wondering if we should try our luck at the Wheel of Fortune slot machine…
While we weigh the pros and cons, how about a quick giveaway?
This one features one of my favorite things from MAC’s recent DSquared collection.
One lucky lady will receive a tube of MAC Blood Red Lipstick from the DSquared Collection (a $14 value), a creamy berry red.

Entering is easy. There are two different ways, and you can do both of them for two chances to win.
First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post. In it, tell me how you feel about lipstick.
I feel like a different girl with it on — sophisticated, worldy, put-together… like a super-heroine version of myself! 🙂

Second, enter by following me on Twitter and retweeting (RT) the following message:
RT @karenmbb: RT to MAC DSquared Blood Red Lipstick http://bit.ly/40HEyA
I’ll pick the winner at random from among the people who enter by 11:59 p.m. PST on Thursday, October 15.
Góða eydnu

P.S. Today I just toured the strip, walking around like a dazed tourist. I did find a couple neat things I’ll post about soon (need to download the pics). Hope you’re having a good hump day.

OMG! Okay, this isn’t exactly a beauty or a blogging trick, but it still blows me away.
Have you heard of Skype? It’s a free chat platform, among other things. People use it to audio/text/video chat with each other across time and space, LOL!
As if that’s not cool enough already, there’s a powerful feature sort of buried in the preferences that changes it from a chat program into a home surveillance tool/pet monitor!
It requires Skype (of course) and two different free accounts. They’re easy to create, just requiring a different email address for each one.
You’ll need two computers/laptops, each one with a webcam, speakers and a microphone (some webcams include mics).
Before leaving home for your trip, open the Skype program and log in with one of the two Skype accounts you created.
Check the boxes in the Skype preferences beside “Automatically receive video from” and “Start my video automatically.”
Leave your computer powered on while you’re gone (it needs to be turned on so you can connect to it remotely). You may also have to disable the power management settings on your computer to prevent it from shutting down after a period of inactivity (saves power but means you can’t connect to it while you’re away).
Now, from the road, you just log into Skype with your Account B, place a call to your Account A, and KAPOW! — instant pet monitor. Skype at home answers the call automatically.
I just checked on Tabs from Las Vegas using this trick, and it worked like a charm! With the computer speakers turned on, he heard my voice and meowed his reply. I feel better knowing what he’s up to while I’m gone… You never know with that cat. 🙂

I think Rachel McAdams (born Rachel Anne McAdams on November 17, 1978 in Ontario, Canada) pretty much rocks.
I mean, c’mon — what’s not to like? She gets points from me for having the guts to wear pink hair (you go, girl!). That, and she starred in The Notebook, one of my all-time favorite flicks. 🙂
Rachel’s been acting since 12 but didn’t get her big break until comedian Rob Schneider’s The Hot Chick. Then came Mean Girls (remember her in that?).
Her career’s been on an upswing lately, and Forbes magazine recently named her the third most Bankable Actress in Hollywood.
As for her hair, Rachel’s locks are as varied as the characters she plays, with styles in bunches of different colors and lengths.

P.S. I’m here at the airport in San Francisco waiting for my flight… If I don’t check back in for a few hours, have a great day. 🙂

Hi, ladies. 🙂 Here’s mine:
I figure that if rain is coming down sideways and splattering all over my face, I should keep my makeup easy and low-maintenance — something that won’t require too much effort to touch up.
How ’bout you?

P.S. Six hours from now I leave the house bound for Blog World in Las Vegas. It’s a conference of bloggers from around the world with sessions on different things like video podcasting, technical topics like how to host a website, social networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), monetization (advertising and whatnot) and various other blog-related stuff.
Consequently, I might be covering different things over the next few days (the conference runs through Saturday)… I’ll probably mix blogging tips and advice in with makeup/beauty — things I learn at the conference. But, as usual, I’ll also be on the prowl for beauty booty to share. 🙂

Before bed I like to surf for celebrity makeup inspiration online.
I’ll bookmark the looks I think I might like to copy and save them in a folder ironically titled, “Celebrity Makeup Inspiration.” 🙂
Last night I bookmarked this pic of Jennifer Hudson at the 2009 Grammy Awards.
Hello, hawtness! I love the black, gray and white eye she’s wearing. Soo sultry…
This morning I rifled through my makeup stash to see if I had dupes for a similar look when I remembered Urban Decay’s Smoke Out Kit in Sweet Lucy ($34).
It’s one of three Smoke Out Kits UD released for the holidays. This one’s all about the smokey eyes.
Each Smoke Out Kit comes with four powder shadows in coordinating shades, a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero (a deep black), a mini tube of Skyscraper Mascara (black) and a tiny eye brush.
- Sweet Lucy: Blacks and grays for smokey looks
- Ju-Ju: Browns for neutral looks
- Yerba: Deep greens for colorful looks

Eyeshadows from left to right: a neutral tan matte and a cool white matte

Ladies, here’s a closer look at the lippies from the Bobbi Brown Earth Metal Lip and Eye Palette ($60).
BAM! Giant lip swatches comin’ atcha. 🙂

Rose Bud: a creamy warm brown cream
These join six shimmer eyeshadows in the Earth Metal palette.
I think Rose Bud’s (shown above) my favorite…
What’s yours?
