The New bareMinerals Remix Collection and Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer: Club Kids, We’re Pressing Fast-Forward to Summer

December 22nd, 2012 by Karen 15 Comments

The new bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 in The Wild Thing ($30), from the new Remix collection

Heck, YES! I’d love to go clubbing with you. Are you serious?? Because I’m totally down. We could even wear the new club-themed bareMinerals Remix collection.

But wait — I can only go if we leave the house by 9 and get home by 11:30, midnight at the latest, because that’s when my pumpkin turns back into a carriage.

I love to dance, but I do not need to be shaking my 30-something-year-old groove thing past midnight. Seriously, I don’t.

On second thought, we should leave the club by 11, because I want to be in bed, under the covers, with my mouthguard on (dude, I totally grind my teeth; it sucks!) by midnight.

LOL! Don’t laugh. 🙂 Last time I checked, there wasn’t a rule that says we can’t go out early and come home by midnight. It’s like clubbing 2.0, the remix. You get all the fun of clubbing while being fully functional the next day. Win, win!

Okay, now that we’re done making fun of my tired @ss, let’s get to the good stuff, the new bareMinerals spring Remix collection, which arrives next month (in the middle of winter).

It has been giveaway central up in here!

It just seems like the thing to do this time of year, and it’s been a blast for me. I like being able to offer you the chance to win these prizes over the holidays, and I always get a kick out of reading your comments.

As you can probably imagine, you get some pretty entertaining comments when all it takes to enter is a random comment about anything at all. 🙂

Comments like…

“I can so totally lick my elbow :p”
–CAROLINE ROYER

“Geometric shapes calm the mind.”
–CHELSEA

“The last time I wore a bow in my hair was Saturday. I also saw Robert Downey Jr that day.”
–LAURA

Ha! I love that last one up there. Bows and Iron Man… Very interesting. 🙂

Anywho, the giveaways are just a small way to say thank you for making MBB a part of your life.

So let’s get to it, shall we? This morning’s giveaway is an extra one on top of the 12 Days of Giveaways series (so check back for a SECOND giveaway a little later today) featuring the new $45 bareMinerals Light Show palette, and this one is open to international and local readers (with six different winners!).

bareminerals light show

Gorgeous palette, isn’t it? It comes with makeup for eyes, lips and cheeks in a nice variety of wearable and dramatic shades.

These are colors I’d totally wear to meet my girlfriends somewhere in the city at night, and I’d rock the heck out of those teal and bronze eyeshadows together…maybe adding a little swipe of purple along my lower lash line if I were feeling extra sassy.

The bareMinerals Light Show palette includes…

  • 3 bareMinerals READY Eyeshadows: Spotlight (an opalescent cream), Flash (a matte purple clay), Flicker (an antique bronze) and Dazzle (a midnight teal)
  • 1 Round The Clock Waterproof Eyeliner in 10PM (a burnished mocha)
  • 1 bareMinerals READY Bronzer in The High Dive (a tan)
  • 1 Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Super Power (a soft peachy nude)
  • 1 golden makeup bag

  • Six lucky winners will each receive (1) bareMinerals Light Show palette valued at $45.

  • There are two ways to enter, and you can do both of them for two chances to win. First, you can enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post, a comment about anything at all, like, what palettes do you take with you on trips? When was the last time you saw a live performance? What are your bareMinerals must-haves? Did you use any palettes when you got ready this morning? What’s your stance on skinny jeans? Do you have a makeup shopping buddy? In what room do you spend the most time at home? — you get the idea.
  • Second, you can enter by following me on twitter Twitter @karenmbb and retweeting (RT) the following message:
    • Follow @karenmbb and RT to Win a bareMinerals Light Show Palette [6 WINNERS]! http://bit.ly/Ylbyil

  • The deadline to enter is Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:59PM (PST).
  • Entrants must enter using a valid email address and/or Twitter account to win.
  • A maximum of two (2) entries per person — one within the comments at the bottom of this post, and a second entry via Twitter addressed to me @karenmbb.
  • Contest is open to individuals internationally and in the United States who have reached the age of majority according to their local laws (18 in the United States with these exceptions: Alabama and Nebraska, 19; Mississippi, 21).
  • Tabs and I (heretofore referred to as “T-Money and K-Dawg”) will select one (1) winner at random from the entries either left in the comments at the bottom of this blog post or addressed to @karenmbb on Twitter.
  • The winner will be announced here within 48 hours of the deadline.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. While you’re here…take a minute to enter these other ongoing giveaways (if you haven’t already). Seriously, I bet it wouldn’t take you more than a minute to enter them both.

  1. Two Ways to Win an Abstract Signature Bow Small Natalie Cosmetics Case From Kate Spade — Closes Wednesday, 12/19/12 at 11:59 p.m. PST
  2. Two Ways to Win a Birds Over Arches Davie Cosmetics Case From Kate Spade (a $60 Value) — Closes Thursday, 12/20/12, at 11:59 p.m. PST

Good luck! 🙂

WINNER: The giveaway is closed now, and the winners are Carolyn N, Tuhina Dayal, Adriana RP, Rosh Penn, Lennie and Sugarenia! Congratulations, everyone! If you entered but didn’t win this time around, keep trying, and click here to enter any ongoing giveaways before you jet. 🙂

Who Else Is Ready for the New Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Eyeshadow Duos and Quads?

March 29th, 2012 by Karen 29 Comments

Wearing Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 in Alter Ego

I was having one of those “Oh, no, you did not just put me on hold again, Tabs!?” afternoons today. You know, the kind where your cat employer calls you at the office and then puts you on hold, and you repeat to yourself, “Breath in, breath out. Breathe in, breathe out,” and your shoulders are so tense and flexed that they practically touch your ears?

But after a few minutes with the new Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 duos and 4.0 quads, I started to feel a whole lot better. Calm and centered; cool and collected.

It’s true what they say. Luscious colors and soft textures really do soothe the savage beast. 🙂

This May, seven new Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 duos ($20 each) and two Ready Eyeshadow 4.0 quads ($30 each) join the bareMinerals clan, touching down on Bare Escentuals counters, boutiques and at Sephora stores.

Here are pics of five of the duos and one of the quads. If you take a look, I’d be curious to hear what you think.

For the record, I noticed a wee bit of fallout when I tried on The Alter Ego duo, but it wasn’t much. Just a few crumbs. And with as pigmented as the colors are, I can live with it.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss: When Literature and Lipgloss Collide

March 19th, 2012 by Karen 15 Comments

bareminerals marvelous moxie lipgloss spark plug
Wearing bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss in Spark Plug

Please note that if The Hunger Games movie ends up being a dud, you will find me holding a pitchfork and torch and leading an angry mob in the movie theater parking lot.

(I just got tickets for Friday’s midnight show!)

I can still remember when the only people talking about this series were 12 years old. Wait — except for me. 🙂 Young adult science fiction with a bad@ss heroine? Totally my thing.

I’ll be rocking the China Glaze Capitol Colours to the show, of course, but I haven’t decided on the rest of my makeup for the night. Maybe just a simple, Cinna-inspired gold liner along my upper lash line (LOVE YOU, CINNA!).

For my lips? Hmm… I’d love to make a statement, but for this, the purple pout I wore for the Sex and the City midnight show doesn’t feel quite right.

And I see myself having more in common with the residents of the Seam than the green-skinned, gold-tattooed girls of the Capitol. Purple lips don’t exactly scream “District 12.”

No. I should go bare, or almost bare. Maybe with something sheer and shiny, like one of the 10 new Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lipglosses ($18 each).

I like how the colors in this line of lightly mint-flavored and scented long-wearing glosses have such powerful names. They remind me of many of my favorite Hunger Games characters, like Risk Taker (a chocolate shimmer), Trail Blazer (a nude gold) and Maverick (a rosewood shimmer) to describe Katniss. Smooth Talker (a golden pink) — now that could describe Peeta; and Rebel (a pink mauve) — perhaps Gale?

Gotta love any collision of literature and lipgloss, even when they’re (probably) unintentional.

Here’s a closer look at four of the 10 shades, all of which lightly tingle and are supposed to have a subtle plumping effect. Per usual, I don’t really see a difference in the size of my lips with ’em on, but I rarely do with products that allegedly plump.

At least I know these glosses will shine through the movie. I’ve been getting about four hours from them, and they should withstand a big bucket of popcorn (I know this because I wore Spark Plug to see 21 Jump Street last Friday).

Get Ready for More Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Blushes and Bronzers This March

February 17th, 2012 by Karen 17 Comments

bareMinerals Ready BronzerNext month Bare Escentuals bareMinerals, a line primarily known for their mineral eyeshadows, blushes and foundations in loose form, presses further ahead into the world of pressed makeup within pans and compacts.

It begs the question: are you ready?

Last fall the line leapt into pressed powders, introducing a new family of eyeshadow duos and quads called Ready, and they’re expanding the Ready brood this spring with 13 new blushes and bronzers.

Using only natural colorants and the brand’s proprietary blend of positively-charged sea minerals, antioxidants and other ingredients known to deliver anti-aging benefits for softer, smoother skin, the Ready Blushes ($22 each) and Ready Bronzers ($24 each) might look like a powder, but they feel like a cream.

bareMinerals says they devised a way to press these products into a solid while preserving benefits normally lost through conventional methods. Using cold-pressed carrot oil for the bronzers and cold-pressed camellia flower oil for the blushes, the solids retain their shape, and the process doesn’t require other binders, fillers, parabens or harsh chemicals.

I’ve yet to really explore these new blushes and bronzers, but the blushes are supposed to swirl on softly for a naturally tinted look and build easily into a brighter flush, and the bronzers are supposed to simulate the effortless glow of an afternoon spent soaking up the sun.

Yes, please. I like. 🙂

Here’s a brief look at three of the 10 new Ready blushes and two of the three bronzers. Full reviews coming soon.
