Too Faced

This New Palette By Too Faced Is a Glitter Bomb, and That’s a Good Thing

July 7th, 2017 by Karen 28 Comments

The Too Faced Glitter Bomb Palette, also known as “An Explosion o’ Glitter!”

First time I played with this new palette from Too Faced, I reached a point during which glitter was seconds away from ending up all over the place…so I came to the following conclusion: why not put it in the crease, too? And the inner corner? And on my lower lash line?! Basically, why not put this glitter everywhere!?

I mean, if you’re gonna go there already, don’t just dip a toe in the glitter pool. GO. ALL. IN.

This fun $45 LE lioness is available right meow with eight powder glitter shadows, as well as two bases that you can layer under the shadows if you want. There’s a matte white base to brighten colors and a black shade to darken them.

GLITTER!!!

I think that the name, Glitter Bomb, is a ref to something that anyone who plays with glittery makeup knows. “That shadow is a glitter bomb!” You know, when it gets all over the place, which you have to expect when you’re working/playing with glitter sometimes. And it happens here.

This lives up to its name. It is a glitter bomb, but it helps to layer a little glitter glue on your lids first, and then apply the glitters with a wet brush.

Also, for sure, do you eyes first. Then clean up whatever bits land on your face after you’re done. Or, you can just leave the glitter in you brows and on your nose like you meant to do it, haha. Like I said…ALL. IN.

You Gotta Be Cool With Warm to Love the Too Faced Peanut Butter & Honey Palette

March 9th, 2017 by Karen 9 Comments

The new Too Faced Peanut Butter & Honey Palette

Is it just me, or is Too Faced completely obsessed with food?

I mean, I’m not hating at all. For the record, I am totally cool with this, but I’m just saying… It seems like all of their palettes have something to do with things that are delicious.

The Semi-Sweet Chocolate Palette has another cousin

Their new Peanut Butter & Honey palette is an offshoot of Semi-Sweet, from their Chocolate Bar collection, which has a shade in it called Peanut Butter.

So there’s the original Peanut Butter Palette, the Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette, and now this — the Peanut Butter & Honey Palette.

It’s $36 and available now at The Cheesecake Factory!

Haha! Kidding. 🙂 No, it’s available now online and at Ulta.

P.S. Are you hungry yet? I’m starved.

It’s peanut butter honey time, peanut butter honey time!

Warm oranges and reddish browns

The nine powder shadows are all warm-toned, and there’s a lot of orange-brown and reddish brown action happening, which have been very popular makeup color themes over the past year or two.

The New Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters in Ray of Light, Blinded By the Light and You Light Up My Life

March 8th, 2017 by Karen 13 Comments

Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters from the top: Ray of Light, Blinded By the Light and You Light Up My Life ($30 each)

Too Faced Creative Director Jerrod Blandino says that when he dreamed up the new Love Light Highlighters, he wanted something that would capture that glow women get when they’re madly in love.

I wonder, though… Is he just talking exclusively about romantic love, or do other kinds of love count? Because I can’t lie. I glow when I think about my cat (It’s true, though. I LOVE HIM.), or when I get a hankering for chocolate doughnuts, just as another example.

Personally, I’m going to allow myself to pretend that it refers to all kinds of love, including the kinds of love reserved for cats and doughnuts.

Anywho! 🙂 These highlighters are new for spring and coming March 9th. There are three 0.32-oz. $30 shades.

Rose gold Ray of Light is recommended for all skin tones. Metallic white gold Blinded by the Light is recommended for light-to-medium babes. And You Light Up My Life is an intensely glittery yellow gold made for medium and deeper skin tones.

(Props if you got the song references, BTW, and extra props if you sang them out loud.)

Suspended, spherical pearls

Too Faced claims that the Love Lights have a formula that combines a liquid, a cream and a powder, and instead of having reflective crushed pearl-escent particles like most other highlighters, their particles are little spheres, which reflect light from more angles…

Hey, it sounds good to me. 🙂

The New Too Faced Natural Love Palette

March 7th, 2017 by Karen 35 Comments

The new Too Faced Natural Love Palette ($59)

I bet the cat ladies out there will feel me on this! There’s a shade in the $59 Too Faced Natural Love Palette called Kittens.

There are 30 shades in this palette, which is designed for natural eye looks, but yes, of course, Kittens was the first one I got on my lids. 🙂

Natural Love is a “new” $59 limited edition palette coming out March 9th, and I say “new” in air quotes because 13 of the colors are cherry-picked re-promotes from previously released Too Faced Natural Eyes Palettes, while the other 17 are new.

Pretty packaging!

It’s mostly neutrals, with some not-too-crazy purple, pink and coral sprinkled in for good measure.

Too Faced Sweet Peach Collection Review | Spring 2017 (Video)

December 20th, 2016 by Karen 13 Comments

Packaging for the The Too Faced Sweet Peach Spring 2017 collection (the purse is from a press kit and won’t be for sale)

I haven’t had a peach Gummi in years, but now I kinda want one… The Too Faced Sweet Peach Spring 2017 Collection is practically an ode to peach Gummies (the round ones that look like doughnuts).

I’m wearing the collection in this video. I’m wearing the eye palette on my eyes, the standalone blush on my cheeks, the face palette with the bronzer, highlighter and blush on top of the other blush on my cheeks (there’s a lot happening on my cheeks), and Peach Tease gloss on my lips.

Red Lips and Reverse Liner With the Too Faced Funfetti Set and Sydney Amaryllis Matte Lip Liquid From The Body Shop

November 10th, 2016 by Karen 9 Comments

too faced funfetti
A lil’ bit of reverse liner today with the Too Faced Funfetti set

Reverse liner.

Sounds kinda funny, right? Like, if there’s a reverse liner…shouldn’t there also be a forward or a sideways liner too?

No? OK, maybe not. 🙂

But there is such a thing as reverse liner. It’s actually legit. It’s when your lids are darker than your liner, which is the opposite of the normal style of wearing a darker color along your lash lines than your lids.

I did it today to do something different and exercise my makeup skills.

Oh, gosh. I’m still so out of practice after having Connor Claire. Honestly, makeup is a perishable skill. If you don’t use it, you freaking lose it.

So this look is a little different for me because of the reverse liner, but I still did smoky lids…because what else am I gonna wear? You know how much I like smoky lids.

I used the new Too Faced Funfetti set, which goes on sale tomorrow (Nov. 11) on HSN.

A lighter liner on darker lid

I also tried something different with my lids. I mixed a few of the Funfetti eyeshadows together, and by “mixed” I mean that I took a dark matte purple, a shimmery bronze and a shimmery olive from the palette, swooshed them all together with a brush on the back of my hand, and used that to make my own custom color. Then I patted that on my lids.

I just felt like creating my own color today. I don’t know… I’ve been into that lately.

The Too Faced Christmas in New York Merry Macarons Ulta Exclusive Kit

November 5th, 2016 by Karen 12 Comments

too faced christmas in new york merry macarons
too faced christmas in new york merry macarons
The Too Faced Christmas in New York Merry Macarons kit, an Ulta holiday exclusive

It might look strange to see someone holding an eyeshadow palette up to their nose and deeply sniffing it, and that someone might also end up with a purple nose, but you gotta do it with the Too Faced Christmas in New York Merry Macarons palette. Because it smells like vanilla macarons. And it’s yum!

I acknowledge the absurdity of scented eye products…but Too Faced does it all the time (see: their Chocolate Bar Eye Palettes).

I’m just waiting for the day when science figures out how to give us eyes that can also smell, but I digress…

Merry Macarons is a $39 Ulta exclusive in the Too Faced Holiday 2016 Collection, and you you get a whole bunch of stuff with it, including this really cute diorama box.

There’s a puppy in there, a Christmas tree… You know, if I were eight, I would be all up in this, although I would also have some questions for my mom regarding the mascara. There’s a deluxe-sized Better Than Sex Mascara in the kit, and I would be like, “Mommy, what’s sex?”

And that would just be awkward.

In addition to the mascara, you get 12 powder eyeshadows that smell like vanilla, and there a good number of mattes and some browns, which I dig (yes, I know that I sound like a broken record sometimes).

There are some shimmers too, like purples, some taupes, a golden taupe, which I’m all up on, and a shade called Cookies and Cream, which is like a shimmery, blackened greenish galaxy of glitter flecks.

I played with the shadows a bit, and there is some fallout, which is typical of Too Faced. But NBD. No big deal. It’s manageable if you do your eyes first, then clean up. The powders are easy to blend, which is a big plus.

One thing I love about Too Faced is how well they balance neutrals with party colors, and they do it again with this palette.

SO HAWT! Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy Juicy Color Plumping Lip Gloss

September 9th, 2016 by Karen 8 Comments

New $22 Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy Juicy Color Plumping Lip Gloss

Holy habaneros, girl! Somebody grab a fire extinguisher because my lips are on FIYAHHH! — and I’m not talking jalapeños. I’m talking next-level ghost pepper to the Nth degree flames rising up from the depths of the earth’s primordial molten core HOT! ?? That’s how my lips feel when I wear these new Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy Juicy Color Plumping Lip Glosses.

These bees sting like battling rivals on the dance floor!

Thankfully, it does subside after a few minutes…

So, yeah…on one hand, I feel like I’m making out with a ghost pepper when I wear these, but on the other hand, I like how they shine (like the twinkle in Nick Jonas’ eye when he sings about lost love).

I also like how long they last and how thick they feel, so they stick to my lips for 3-4 hours.
