I’m Stuck on the Totally Cute Too Faced Totally Cute Palette

The $36 Too Faced Totally Cute Palette (WITH STICKERS!)

Is this supposed to be for adults, or for children? Or adults who act like children?

I don’t even care because it’s totally cute. The $36 Too Faced Totally Cute Palette is…totally cute.

It comes with two sheets of stickers — not one, but two! — which are adorable to the Nth degree.

Sticker time!

The 10-year-old version of Karen (the one who hoarded ALL THE LISA FRANK) only wishes there was also a unicorn.

Oh, wait…

And if you ever get past the stickers, there’s also a palette (haha!) with nine brand new powder eyeshadows shades — three warm matte neutrals (yay!), two shimmery beige highlighting shades and four jewel tones, all of which blend with the preternatural smoothness of a silky unicorn’s mane.

What Are Your Winged Liner Woes?

August 4th, 2016 by Karen 37 Comments

too-faced-sketch-markers

I’ve been thinking a lot about winged liner (a.k.a. cat eyeliner) lately.

More than usual.

Maybe it’s because of all the liners that’ve been launching lately, like the colorful Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliners at the top.

How often do you think about winged liner? How often do you wear it? And what are your winged liner woes and struggles? I’d like to help.

Are your wings always uneven? Are your lash lines always a different thickness? Whatever your winged liner woes, tell me about them in the comments. Maybe I can help. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Creamy, Coco-Nutty Full-Coverage Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

August 2nd, 2016 by Karen 17 Comments

too faced born this way concealer
Too Faced Born This Way Concealer ($28)

Apparently, my mind is in the gutter, because for the longest time I mistakenly thought that this Too Faced concealer was actually named Better Than Sex Concealer, and not Born This Way Concealer, HAHA!

And, of course, because of that, I thought, “How can a concealer be better than sex? I don’t even know… Then again, a good concealer can be pretty darned orgasmic…” LOL! Yeah. Dirty birdy.

Born This Way, which came out early this summer, is $28 and available in 10 shades.

Like some other Too Faced products, it contains skin-friendly ingredients, like coconut water (it has a very faint coconut scent too) and hyaluronic acid, which, Too Faced says, makes it more moisturizing and helps promote a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Truth be told…I can never tell for sure if skincare ingredients make much of a difference when they show up in my makeup, but homegirl does need all the help she can get.

Born This Way is a full-coverage concealer and feels like a fluffy mousse. Right off the bat, the consistency, the smoothing formula and the coverage remind me of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, which was my errrything for many years, and I still love it.

This Summer Skin Routine Will Get You Glowing, Sexy, and Glam

June 8th, 2016 by Anna Oh 12 Comments

summer-skin-8

It’s been hot here in Georgia lately…like SO hot that I’m running to my car now, yet despite the heat and sun, my legs refuse to tan, no matter how many skirts and dresses I wear. I think my legs might be invincible, guys, LOL!

To combat my blindingly white legs, I’ve been using a bronzing oil, Too Faced Royal Oil Coconut Oil Body Bronzer, and I think it may be a go-to this summer.

But that’s not the first step in my summer skin routine.

It all starts with the bath…

I finally get it… Baths are great. In my new home, I finally have a separate bathtub to relax and lounge in, and the new Shea Moisture “African Water Mint and Ginger” products inspire me to make time for them.

I start with a capful of African Water Mint & Ginger Detox Bubble Bath & Body Wash ($9.99) in the bath. It’s not SUPER soapy — which I like — so there’s no need to jump into the shower to rinse off.

But hands down, my favorite product of the set is the African Water Mint & Ginger Detox Hand & Body Scrub ($9.99). I love the feeling of the sugar breaking down as I rub it into my skin. I feel squeaky clean AND moisturized at the same time because of the oils and shea butter in the formula.

Before I hop out of the bath, I’ll quickly finish up with the African Water Mint & Ginger Detox & Refresh Hair & Scalp Gentle Shampoo ($10.99) and African Water Mint & Ginger Detox & Refresh Hair & Scalp Conditioner ($10.99).

The conditioner doesn’t wow me (it’s very thick and lotion-y), but the shampoo makes my scalp feel brand new. I use it once or twice a week to combat the hot, humid hair situation (you know — life in the South).

Which Too Faced La Matte Color Drenched Lipstick Is Right for You?

May 30th, 2016 by Anna Oh 13 Comments

too faced la matte lipsticks

Never shy of a great matte lip, I leaped on these new $22 Too Faced La Matte Color Drenched Lipsticks the first chance I got.

Too Faced recommends warming them up against your lips before applying them, and I positively agree with them on that. Amazingly enough, the initially dry texture, doesn’t actually dry your actual lips. In fact, my favorite thing about the formula is how little product actually sits on your lips. The texture’s very thin and comfortable.

Too Faced introduced 10 shades of La Matte Color Drenched Lipstick, and here are pics and swatches!

The Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette, With Its Simple, Logical Layout, Is Almost Perfect!

May 24th, 2016 by Anna Oh 19 Comments

toofaced-face3

The words “contouring” and “easy” don’t usually fit into the same sentence for me, but I think it is possible to have them both with this particular popular palette: the Too Faced Cocoa Contour Palette ($40).

Most contouring palettes have a LOT going on, but this one has such a logical, simple layout. It only has four pans, but it always comes in handy, no matter if I feel like wearing a little makeup or a lot. Contouring has never been a part of my daily makeup routine, but I’m surprised by how quickly I’ve grown to like using this palette!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: Now Waterproof!

May 20th, 2016 by Anna Oh 19 Comments

too faced better than sex waterproof

Remember when Too Faced made a mascara that was “better than sex?” Well, this one is even better than that one because it’s waterproof!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara ($23) works magic in every department now — volume, length, and (now) curl.

Feeling upgraded in every way, it’s packaged in a heavy metal tube with a water-fleck texture like the one I fell in love with from the MAC Alluring Aquatic Collection (2014).

Waterproof mascara isn’t for everyone, though. For some, it means blinking away black flakes, dry crunchy lashes, and even losing a few eyelashes trying to take it off, but I think this is one of the better waterproof mascaras I’ve used, and it’s worth a try if you’re looking for a new one. This one’s now my favorite mascara for special occasions.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof

Better lashes, here I come!

Closeup of the “Better Than Sex” wand…

Bam!

So, the wand on this mascara is ridiculously huge, and my first few tries with it were super messy. I’m not sure if the wand has to be THIS big, because sometimes the product can collect into clumps on the brush.

But since I love the way it makes my lashes look, I can overlook a few messy applications. The jet-black formula really sticks to my lashes, but instead of weighing them down like the original Better Than Sex Mascara does, this one holds them in place.

Multiple layers are also possible because of the slow-drying formula.

Now, even though your waterproof lashes look amazing, what do you do with them at the end of the day?

Removing waterproof mascara

You grab Too Faced Mascara Melt Off ($17), which you swipe right onto your lashes, and the oil-infused formula conditions and literally “melts off” waterproof mascaras.

The main reason I don’t wear waterproof mascara more often is because cleanup is so difficult, and even though I always use a separate waterproof eye remover, this mascara still doesn’t budge easily.

But Mascara Melt Off works great and takes less effort. I just let it sit on my lashes for a full minute before wiping off the oil and the rest of my eye makeup with a warm makeup wipe (I warm the makeup wipe by running it under hot water).

These products were made for each other, and Mascara Melt Off really works.

See you in the next!

Anna

Does Too Faced Shadow Insurance Really Work?

May 6th, 2016 by Jen Clark 18 Comments

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Too Faced Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer ($20)

I have been cursed with an annoying curse — oily eyelids. This basically makes it impossible for my eye shadows to look the same at the end of the day as they look when I put them on, and who wants to spend precious time blending away till your arm falls off when you know it’s just going to look like you sprayed Pam all over your eyelids a couple of hours later!

Eye shadow primers to the rescue! Too Faced Shadow Insurance is what’s on trial today.

I am so happy with this primer! It pretty much does just what it’s supposed to do, and I want to show you up close and personal.

For this test, I only applied the primer to one eye, and then I left my makeup on as long as I could stand it, which ended up being about 8 hours.

I don’t really notice a difference in how my eye shadows apply with this primer. They go on exactly the same as they do when I’m not using primer at all. Sometimes, with some primers, your shadows can go on a little smoother, or even sometimes a little chunkier, but that’s not the case with Shadow Insurance for me.
