The New Marvelously Moisturizing and Lovely Long-Lasting POPBeauty Plump Pout Liquid Lip Stain in Fuchsia Freesia

August 24th, 2013 by Karen 23 Comments

POPBeauty Plump Pout Liquid Lip Stain in Fuchsia Freesia
That’s new POPBeauty Plump Pout Liquid Lip Stain in Fuchsia Freesia ($16, one of four shades) on my pout

Alliteration much? 🙂 Someone over at POPBeauty HQ had a field day with these new POPBeauty Plump Pout Liquid Lip Stain names: Plump Pout, Liquid Lip, Fuchsia Freesia.

What a fun find! Fuschia Freesia is one of four shades in this brand-spankin’ new line of lip stains ($16 each for a 0.3-ounce tube). I like it so much that I think I need to track down the others so it won’t get lonely in my makeup bag.

The deets…

  • What is it? A long-lasting $16 liquid lip product with a moisturizing, plumping formula (unscented and unflavored), the shiny finish of a gloss and the wear of a lip stain.
  • What does it do? Covers lips evenly with opaque shine that fades slowly to a stain over the course of 5-6 hours. Oh, and I do detect some minor lip plumping, although I think it’s due more to the finish than anything else.
  • Who would lurve it? Dolls (and dudes) who like moisturizing, medium-weight, non-sticky lip products that last a good, long while.

Ingredients

Mica, Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Polybutene, Caprylyl Glycol, Isopentyldiol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol. [+/- Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Mica (CI 77019), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140)]

Look for Fuchsia Freesia and the other Plump Pouts on POPBeauty counters and popbeautycosmetics.com now.

Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille Is a Marvel of Plummy Shimmer and Shine

August 22nd, 2013 by Karen 8 Comments

Dior Merveille 684

Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille ($29.50), a Nordstrom exclusive from the fall Mystic Metallics collection

I wonder where Merveille hath gone…

Wonder — as in Merveille, which according to Google Translate means “wonder,” and that it is. If you like lightweight, slick plum glosses, bear witness to Merveille!

Dior Addict Gloss in Merveille ($29.50), part of the fall Mystic Metallics collection, may be a little tough to track down online right now… It’s currently listed as unavailable on dior.com, but you can sign up to be alerted when it returns.

Pretty darn saturated and opaque enough for my pigmented lips, Merveille also has a hint of red that I like. It keeps it from going too CSI on me (an issue I have with some plum glosses).

To quote Yoda, another wonder/marvel, “A ripe and juicy marvel, this plum gloss is.” 🙂 If that sounds good to you, keep your eyes peeled and your pout plump next time you hit up a Dior boutique or counter.

Posing Now Near Illamasqua Counters, Cool-Toned Mauve Posture Lipstick

August 21st, 2013 by Karen 10 Comments

Truth be told, I feel a little goofy wearing Illamasqua Lipstick in Posture ($24)…

I’m sure that somewhere out there, a gal/guy/space alien exists who can pull off this matte, cool-toned mauve with much aplomb, buuuut not I.

Posture, part of Illamasqua’s summer Paranormal collection, is one of those artsy colors that could look really neat if you have the right attitude and style to pull it off, but for your average 30-something-year-old cat lady, it’s kinda hard, LOL!

Posture is available now, definitely not slouching in its chair at Illamasqua counters and online.

Call It a Hunch…But Something Tells Me You’ll Like Illamasqua Lipstick in ESP

August 20th, 2013 by Karen 16 Comments

I don’t know… I just have this unexplainable feeling that you’re going to like Illamasqua Lipstick in ESP ($24), and I’ve always been very intuitive when it comes to makeup (ha!).

Maybe it’s a sixth sense, or maybe it’s simply because of how stunning ESP looks on different skin tones from light to dark.

But this dramatic, vivid matte violet is not a color for wallflowers. Part of Illamasqua’s Paranormal summer collection, it’s one of those lipsticks your eyes lock on when you walk into a room.

Wait! — I just had a vision. ESP is available now at Sephora stores and online. 🙂

Covergirl Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm in Sweet Tweet 255 Is a Beautiful Bird

August 18th, 2013 by Karen 6 Comments

If Elmer Fudd were a makeup artist he’d say, “Aww, what a sweet tweet!” when he spotted Covergirl’s Lipslicks Smoochies Lip Balm in Sweet Tweet 255.

It’s a great option for gals who like their drugstore lip colors (it’s only $5.99) with extra something-something on the side.

I have a soft spot for these because they remind me of high school. I always carried at least one Covergirl Lipslick in my backpack at all times. 🙂

Sweet Tweet’s a perfect sheer pink for casual makeup days. Its barely-there color and soft, subtle shine are surefire attention-getters, but won’t leave your lips looking overdone.

More deets on Sweet Tweet…

  • 1-2 hour wear time
  • Lightweight, non-stick formula
  • Listed as being both unflavored and unscented, but I think they smell and taste kinda waxy. Thankfully, it fades after a few minutes.
  • Sweet Tweet is of 12 colors in the Lipslick Smoochies Lip Balm line (about $6 each)

I can see myself wearing this on the weekends, or whenever I want to dress down. It might be a good fit for gals who like their lip color on the subtle side, or for teens/tweens just dipping their toes into makeup.

Un-Fortunately, Wear Time Is Not Among Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in 619’s Many Good Fortunes

August 16th, 2013 by Karen 7 Comments

Dior Extreme Addict in 619 Fortune

Dior Extreme Addict in 619 Fortune

In the case of Dior Extreme Addict Lipstick in 619, Fortune does not smile upon you; instead, you smile wearing Fortune. 🙂

That’s because Fortune is its name — 619, otherwise known as Fortune. This $31 rosy nude is available exclusively at Nordstrom as part of Dior’s Fall Mystic Metallics collection.

Well…it’s supposed to be, but it looks like it’s currently unavailable online.

Fortune is one of those “Is she or isn’t she wearing makeup?” colors that’s always handy to have in your purse.

The goods on Fortune…

  • The lightweight formula feels smooth, and it’s comfortable to wear.
  • BLING! Very shiny.
  • It’s moderately pigmented, with coverage somewhere between medium and full.
  • It reminds me of a more moisturizing Chanel Rouge Coco Shine (which is good).
  • Un-fortunately, it doesn’t last very long. I only get about one hour of wear time and have to reapply after meals…

If you’re fortunate enough to find Fortune at a Nordie’s Dior counter one of these days when you’re in mood for a high-shine lippie with a formula that feels as light as Tortie Girl’s wispy whiskers (and don’t mind having to reapply often), check it out. 🙂
