June 4-6 are Comments for a Cancer Cure Days at the Beauty Blog Network. Here’s what you can do to raise money for cancer awareness and prevention: Visit one of the Beauty Blog Network participating sites. Leave a comment. It’s that easy!

Based on the number of blog comments they receive on their posts during those three days, blog owners will donate a pre-determined amount per comment to a cancer organization of their choice, like the Susan G. Komen Foundation. There’s also a Cafe Press store with plenty of cute items featuring the logo above (all Cafe Press proceeds will go to The Brain Tumor Foundation) and an Ebay Auction with goody bags filled with fantastic beauty products. Visit, comment, make a difference in the fight against cancer!

MAC favorites from Allure Magazine Reader’s Choice Awards

I got my June Allure magazine in the mail yesterday and the first article I read was the Reader’s Choice Awards. I was not surprised to see that several MAC products were voted as favorites in several makeup catagories. Here’s a quick round-up of the MAC faves that Allure Magazine readers voted for:

Lipstick: Mac Viva Glam V. If you don’t have this yet, get it. It’s beautiful, universally flattering, and easy to apply even when you are in a hurry.

Lipgloss: MAC Lustreglass Lip Gloss in Pinkarat. I haven’t tried any Lustreglasses (I’m more of a Lipglass girl) but this is now on my list of upcoming MAC purchases.

Eye Shadow: MAC Eye Shadow in All That Glitters. I don’t have this, but the MAC website describes this “a mid-tone beige with gold reflects.” I will have to check this one out as well; it sounds like a pretty highlight color.

Eyeliner: MAC Fluidline Eye Liner Gel in Blacktrack. I love me some Fluidlines. However, blacktrack is *not* my favorite black. I prefer Blitz & Glitz, which is softer and has a little more dimension to it because of the gold flecks.

Concealer: MAC Select Moisturecover. I recently purchased MAC Select Moisturecover and after feeling just so-so about it for a few months I’ve decided that it’s one of my favorite concealers. It works well with my skintone and it doesn’t budge, even through dance class.

I am leaving for San Diego tomorrow and still have yet to pack. It’s a surf/spa trip, and I haven’t surfed since last July when I was in Hawaii. I dug out my surf wetsuit from the nether regions of my closet yesterday. I haven’t worn it since 2003 (the NorCal ocean is too damn cold to surf in!) so wish me luck – I’m gonna need tons of it when I attempt to squeeze into it.

News – Makeup and Beauty Blog Featured in Beauty Blog Carnival

Makeup and Beauty Blog is currently featured in the latest Beauty Blog Carnival. Beauty bloggers from around the world submit their articles to a blogger that serves at the carnival host. Each host sifts through the submitted articles and then decides which ones will make it into the carnival! Check it out and let me know whatcha think.

I was really hoping this week would be less busy than last week but it’s turning out to be quite frantic. I’m in the midst of doing several interviews for a travel story I’m writing. One interview involves the following key words: surfers, firefighters, hotness. You do the math. Ha ha ha, I love my job. Today I’ve got to make some phone calls and line up a few more. Some writers hate the interviewing part – I actually love it. I think research is the most fun part of the story. But at some point you have to actually sit your ass down, turn off iTunes (which of course is playing that stupid R. Kelly song, “I’m a Flirt”, on repeat … arrrrggghhh) and start writing.

Tonight I’m heading over to my parent’s house ’cause it’s my dad’s birthday dinner. I’m hoping we go to an Italian restaurant because I’m craving linguine and clams something fierce.

Woo hoo, tomorrow’s Friday! Let’s all try to hold on to our sanity until then, okay?
