Deep Matte Red Milani Lipstick in Enchanted Ruby

September 19th, 2014 by Karen 25 Comments

Milani Lipstick in Enchanted Ruby

Milani Lipstick in Enchanted Ruby

There’s something kind of vintage ’40s glam about Milani’s new deep matte red limited edition Enchanted Ruby Lipstick in ($6.49). I sure love how the matte finish looks in pics! If your lip sitch isn’t as dry as mine, you’ll probably be able to pull this off, no problem, but I find the texture a tad powdery and dry for me by itself…so I usually end up popping a gloss on top.

Enraptured by Enchanted Ruby? You can find it (and its enchanting cousin Enchanted Topaz) casting spells now at CVS and Walgreens stores.

I really like this color! Love deep reds and have a new found love for Burgundy too. But the powdery dry texture is a real issue. I don’t have very dry lips but I don’t like the look of most matte lipsticks on my lips.

I absolutely love intense red like this for myself! I like a good deep red just a touch away from vampy but very intense! This is gorgeous!

Such a gorgeous red! I love it on you! Why couldn’t Milani make these a tad creamier though? No one likes powdery looking lips lol

It’s beautiful on you. I’d love a moisturizing matte red lippie. Does that even exist? *le sigh*

Love the color but you’re right it looks too dry… Not as bad as the other one though.

That is such a gorgeous color!! Looks fabulous on you. I’d like to find a dupe that isn’t quite so matt and is a little bit moisturizing.

That color is absolutely gorgeous! It looks fantastic on you. Between this, the Enchanted Topaz, and the Costellation liners, I’ve got to get to a Milani display pronto.

I absolutely can’t do powdery dry finished on my lips, but the colour of this lipstick is most definitely gorgeous! Makes me think of Christmas!

I just purchased 2 of these Milani lipsticks and it’s like I have to scrape the products onto my lips! I love the shades, but the texture is way too dry to use.

      Hi Jenny,

I had the same experience with the Milani lipsticks and ended up topping my lips off with a gloss.

      Hi Savannah,

Ooh! You know what? I don’t think I have that MAC Lip Pencil. Thank you for the recommendation. I have Dubonnet and need an excuse to bust it out. 🙂

      Hi Kim,

Right? I just wish it was more moisturizing, le sigh!

How’s the weather like out your way? It’s cooler here today, and it finally feels like fall.

Oh, I hear you – we’re heading into dry lip weather as it is! It’s been quite cool (high 40s this AM but warming up to low 60s). Last Sunday was a dramatic change – high of 78. That just means everyone is getting colds. 🙂

I’ve been on the look out for a matter lipstick, although I have quite dry lips that are prone to flaking during the colder seasons, I still want to try the look. Matte lips are a little more sophisticated and tamed compared to glossy lips which are more on the ‘playful’ side. At such an amazingly low price, I might just ignore the fact these lipsticks could be a disaster waiting to happen on my lips, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. I mean JUST LOOK AT THAT PACKAGING! It’s so mature and classy!

There’s lots of lovely mattes out there that are very affordable. Check out Topshop if you have that brand available to you.
