Sally Hansen Carmindy Forever Stay Eye Pencils Pack Marathon Staying Power

February 27th, 2009 by Karen 35 Comments

Blue Indigo and Prune… Nope, I’m not referring to the names of failed superheroes, yet just like comic book characters, these two Sally Hansen Forever Stay Eye Pencils ($8) are superhumanly blessed.

Blue Indigo (a matte emerald blue) and Prune (a matte violet) pack marathon staying power and seriously intense color. With rich jewel-toned colors and a durable waterproof formula, they’re powerful drugstore seducers.

You know how some liners creep onto your lid after a few hours? So not the case with Forever Stay. Once applied, it stays put from dawn to dusk with nary a smudge.

The other day, I applied Blue Indigo in the morning before heading to school. I only had a minute to manipulate and smudge the color in place, but that was enough. The liner was on like Donkey Kong.

Later that day after school I sweated through an hour-long power yoga DVD (Tabs gets up in my mix whenever I downward dog, ha), and Blue Indigo still refused to smear or fade.

Before I removed my makeup that night, I estimated that roughly 80% of the color remained in place. It was still going strong along my lash line. Although it had just barely begun to fade along my waterline, Blue Indigo definitely lasted longer than the average pencil liner.

Beyond its awesome staying power, Forever Stay glides across skin like skates on fresh ice. Shoot, these liners might be even smoother than Hugh Jackman in a tuxedo — and that’s smooooooth, people! 🙂

Price: $8
Use: A budget waterproof liner with superhuman durability and color
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A+

Forever Stay Eye Pencils are still the new kids on the “Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy” block, so color selection remains limited for now, but there are a few more shades to go with the ones above — like Deep Jade, Deep Black and Chocolate Brown.

Forever your girl

This post got me thinking about songs with the word “forever” in the title.

I just totally rocked out to Paula Abdul’s, Forever Your Girl…

Paula Abdul – New Music – More Music Videos

LOL! I can’t believe this song still kinda moves me.

Anyway, I’m so glad it’s Friday! I have a lunch date with a friend in San Francisco. Hopefully the weather cooperates so I can take some quick pictures around Union Square.

How are things in your neck of the woods? Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

These colors look awesome on you! I can’t wait to try these out! I always stick to my MAC liners but I’m really curious to see if these have better staying power on me.

Happy Friday to you too, Karen! Tonight’s sushi night with my peeps. 🙂 Also, random thing about that Paula Abdul video–I used to have the biggest crush on Elijah Wood and remember reading in those cheesy teen magazines that the “Forever your girl” video was his first “Hollywood” gig. Hah!

      Hi Elle,

Oh yah, there’s a wonderful world of liners out there. For some things I’m hard core MAC (like the Fluidlines), but for pencils and stuff I like to explore. 🙂

Sushi sounds delish! Are you a rolls kinda girl, or do you like the plain fish slices (the name escapes me right now).

And hello, I didn’t know that was Elijah Wood! LOLOL, I’ve only seen that video a billion times! Elle + Elijah 4 eva!

    Hi YadiQ,

A weekend getaway is better than nothing! I am really excited for you. I bet you and your sweetie will have a ton of relaxing fun.

Your mani sounds really cute! I never thought to mix up fun shades like that so I am gonna try it — maybe with yellow and purple from last year’s Essie summer collection. I can do yellow on all the nails and purple on the ring finger. Thanks for the inspiration!

Have lots of good fun with your friend tonight at Benihanas. Oh! And what treats do you think you might celebrate with?

I had a good day. I worked a lot at the school’s library so that’s good. And tonight I’m going to a fancy dress party as Pippi Longstocking 🙂

I love both of those and SO need an eyeliner that stays. While I love MAC and Urban Decay 24/7 liners, they do not necessarily stay in place all day (especially MAC Kohl ones). Did you try them on the waterline?

Have a great time at Union Square, it’s a beautiful day in SF!

    Hey Karen!

Yeah, I’ve been using the MAC pencils for a long time (and just got into the Technakohls thanks to you!) but it’s definitely time to try something new.

I’m totally a rolls girl, but I like sashimi too! I think the rolls kinda look cooler though. Superficial, yes, but true, so I think they’re more fun to eat. 🙂

Hahaha! He’s such a cute little kid in that video! God, I know I still have my embarassing stash of posters somewhere, and who knows how much random info I have about him cluttering my brain…LOL!

Hope you have a great weekend too Karen! As for me it’s study study study AND memorize my songs for class on Tuesday :/

hmm i am thinking for my makeup treats some nars hula hula, some urban decay big fatty in purple ( i got my smashbox and it looked totally black 🙁 its going back to cali lol) and the clarins shadow palette you posted the other day

in general i think smashbox online isnt very efficient i returned muse shadow palette and got a quad in electric, a set of eyelights shadows and the mascara
they botched my order and send me photo finish primer

i did however discover the muse shadows were just not pigmented and the texture was funky – their regular shadows rock ! i love the electric palette you should check it out its on sale in their site

my sister and i have been rocking the 2 color thing now for a while and we have been getting a lot of comments from girls liking it

maybe it will become a trend! lol i will send a pic when i do it!

    Hi Karen,

Yes I am taking a voice class for fun this semester. I am a soprano so we complement each other 😛 It’s amazing all the things about the voice I have learned so far, from [actually effective] exercises and the bodily functions behind it. I have to perform my memorized folk song in front of the class for the grade. 😛

Btw, I forgot to ask earlier. Do you think these pencils glide on as easily as MAC eye khol in smolder?

Karen!! I so enjoy your blog. I’ve never been much of a “girly girl,” but makeup is so much FUN!! Then again, so is that Paula Abdul video.

I’ve been eyeing the Carmindy line. Good to know that it’s worthwhile. And, I’m super-intrigued about the Aveeno hair care.

Keep up the great work! (Oh…and let us know about that obituary assignment. My hubby wrote a perfect one for my father’s passing last spring. It’s not easy to do, but it doesn’t have to be dull and boring.)

Wow that blue is gorgeous! I’m having a girls night out w/my mom tomorrow. We’re going to the dance theater. Some dance troop from NY will be performing and there’s a dessert reception before the show. There’s also a circus in town so maybe we’ll go check it out. Hope your lunch date went well, have a great weekend!

(shamedfaced)Okay, I’m late to the party, as I just found your blog via bellasugar. Ways, awesome to see a chica repping the beauty scene for The Bay, and more post-specific, I am in LOVE with plum. That used to be my signature color back in the day (and I think it’s fab my skinone, which is like yours). Also, glad to hear about the staying power, because purple melting off your eyes by day’s end? Not the business.

Now off to bookmark your blog.

I am always looking for a good stay put liner. Urban Decay has recently come out with a new line of smudge proof liners… but they are difficult to get off even with a good eye makeup remover. How did you find these came off when you took your makeup off at the end of the day?

Hi! I live in the Bay Area too and am dying to try Carmindy (especially the foundation). I live in the East Bay. Do you know if the line is easier to find in Rite Aid or Long’s?

    Thanks 🙂

I’m so happy I read this post. I picked the plum one up yesterday from rite aid and wore it today. It really did stay until the end of the day, and went on really creamy. I’m going back for more!
