For Messy, Choppy, Loose Waves, There’s Alterna Perfect Texture Finishing Spray

December 9th, 2014 by Karen 12 Comments

Alterna Caviar Perfect Texture Finishing Spray
Alterna Caviar Perfect Texture Finishing Spray ($28 for a 6.5-oz. bottle), available now at Alterna counters and online

Alterna Caviar Perfect Texture Finishing Spray ($28), also known as “a perfectly acceptable alternative to Oribe’s bomb-diggity (but much more expensive per ounce) Dry Texturizing Spray.”

I spray it on after curling to get the choppy/messy/loose waves thing I like sporting. You can use it as a dry shampoo, a root lifter or a light hold hairspray.

I like it…but I think I prefer Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray a little more overall. That stuff’s the Jay-Z to my Beyonce.

Awesome, it’s Broken!

I can’t remember how I came across it, but have you seen Broken? I caught it last night on Netflix and really enjoyed it.

It’s a quirky (and sometimes very grownup) coming-of-age story about a young girl, probably around 12, named Skunk (played by Eloise Laurence), who’s right at that in-between stage before becoming a full-fledged teenager, and she’s precocious and adorable and awkwardly sweet. One of those girls who’d be a great friend.

The movie also stars Tim Roth and Cillian Murphy, who both turn in great performances.

Just as a heads up, there are some pretty intense, emotionally charged scenes in the movie, where you might want to cover young eyes if you’re watching with the kids.

Now I’m looking for something new to watch. Have you found anything good lately on Netflix?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

There is no Netflix in Germany, so I am relying on Watchever. Sorry!

I never got the Oribe hype, maybe because my hair looks “texturized” on its own, and I struggle to make it look smooth?

Alterna has some nice products and I’ve always loved their packaging.

I haven’t seen Broken but, speaking of Cillian Murphy, I recently watched Seasons 1 & 2 of Peaky Blinders on Netflix (he stars). Probably not up everyone’s alley but I liked it. I think the BBC does some of the best dramas and enjoyed both Happy Valley (spoiler: it is NOT happy) and Hinterland. Well, maybe not “enjoyed” because neither are uplifting by any means – but both are well done, particularly HV. If you have BBC America (on demand) and liked Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy but thought it was missing a young, attractive male lead, you might like The Game. I believe ep 6 of 8 airs tonight but you can catch up On Demand. 🙂

Anti-aging? For yer hair? Really? Okay.

Have you tried Hart of Dixie? I personally enjoyed it a lot! But it’s one of those series you either love or hate. The acting is a bit… peculiar 😉

Karen! You have to check out “Black Mirror,” now streaming on Netflix. It is blowing my mind. It is like a Twilight Zone for our 21st century technology-dependent times.

Although I haven’t tried this product – I love this line of Alterna products. Anti-aging? Meh, probably not, but the Caviar shampoo / conditioner is lovely and $$$.

Okay, the Oribe spray is in one wish list and the Frensh Brown Sugar Body Scrub is in another wish list.

We just finished binge watching Orange is the New Black and now we are watching House of Cards. Orange is the New Black is based on a true story, they have obviously embellished things for TV, but it’s still ver enjoyable. Moon is an older movie, stars Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey. It’s a great movie, totally unexpected ending.
