5 Things I’ve Been Loving Lately

May 22nd, 2018 by Karen 19 Comments

5 things i've been loving lately

1. The Sephora videos with Pro Artist David Razzano

He’s so easy to follow and great at explaining the “why” behind everything. I also wish I could hang with him!

2. Bolthouse Farms Cucumber Ranch Salad Dressing

SO. FREAKING. GOOD.

I obliterated a bag of baby carrots while dipping them into this dressing, which is only 18 calories per tablespoon.

It’s at Target in the ‘fridge section next to the salad stuff, if you’re so inclined.

I encourage you to go for it.

3. Lebert Equalizer Bars

These sound like a health food, don’t they? LOL! They’re exercise bars. We just started using them in HIIT class, and they’re killer and convenient for triceps dips and core exercises using your own body weight.

Just to be clear, I look NOTHING like this ? when I’m using these bars, LOL! Half the time I’m about two seconds from falling, but I still want a pair to keep at home so I can practice. Of course I’d order the hot pink!

4. Morning Has Broken

Heard this in the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, and it’s been it stuck in my head all week. Totally takes me back to singing in church choir when I was young.

5. Cobra Kai

I lost count of how many times my brother and I watched The Karate Kid. We had it on tape (yes, tape), and one summer we watched it every single day.

After all these years, somebody made a sequel! It’s a fun nostalgic ride available on YouTube called Cobra Kai, and there are 10 episodes in the first season (the first two episodes are free, but then you have to subscribe to something called YouTube Red to see the rest). It picks up 30 years after the first movie…

It stars two of the original main characters — Ralph Macchio, who has apparently found the Fountain of Youth because homeboy is not aging, and William Zabka, who plays his rival — and damn if they aren’t perfect.

It’s a surprisingly great show with compelling characters and lots of twists and turns. If you liked the O.G. movies, you’ll love it.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oooh, I’m curious about those Equalizer bars! And I might have to try that ranch.

You’d probably rock them with your circus background. How’s your core strength? ‘Cause it’s all about core. P.S. Mine is terrible. LOL!

I have the roasted garlic dressing from that brand, and it’s amazing!

Those bars also look great, I have been doing a barre routine on youtube with the porchrail, but I can’t really go under or over it because of height.

      Hi Breyerchic04,

Oh, that sounds delicious. I’ll have to hunt it down when I go to Target today.:) I’ve got ZERO core strength and some I’m kinda scared to try barre… I’ve heard it’s great though and that you get strong very quickly. IS the routine you on youtube doable for beginners?

      Hi Amalia,

Yes, I’ve heard that version, too, many times. I like it!

      Have a good Wednesday. 🙂

A Karate Kid Sequel? I need to see that. I don´t think I am gong to try the bars though, i would probably hurt myself badly.

Oh, my. My arms are shaking just looking at those bars. HAHA! And I totally thought from the title that they were energy bars, too. 🙂

That is awesome about the KK sequel. I’ll have to check it out. Whenever I think of Ralph Macchio, I think of the Eagle Flyer in Lake George, NY. It’s this awesome, peaceful zipline down a mountain. Ralph’s dad owns it (or did when we went a couple of years ago). Of course, I also think of KK and the Outsiders. 🙂

Seriously Ralph has NOT aged! He needs to give up the location of the foundation of youth (maybe it’s in Lake George?!).

HAHA! That would be nice – it’s not a very long drive. 🙂 I definitely have to check the sequel out; I haven’t seen Ralph since My Cousin Vinny (also brilliant, imo).

I think everyone who was young when the original KK came out still says things like “wax on, wax off”. 🙂

Oh, for sure. And how many times did you try to do a crane kick? SO MANY TIMES!

What do you mean “did”? HAHA! I still do that move on the kids once per week, along with a loud “WHAAAAAAAAAAAA!”. It always makes them laugh. 🙂

    1. My dogs (or they could count as 1 and 2 since there are 2 of them)
    2. Being independent and unattached and not having to be caregiving anybody
    3. Reading Diana Gabaldon’s “Lord John” series in preparation for re-reading the entire Outlander series in preparation for when the last book comes out later this year or in 2019
    4. Being a Scot (so proud of this, as if it was something I was responsible for doing somehow!)
    5. Hot white tea with cream and sweetener for breakfast every morning.

I have a love/hate relationship with Sephora but I definitely love David Razzano’s videos.
I think I must be weird, but I never buy bottled salad dressing. They always taste off in some way for me.
The equalizer bars look interesting. Although if I got them they’d just sit in the corner with the rest of my exercise equipment. I need to go the gym to exercise.

    Love Bolthouse Farms salad dressing.

Also, I’m laughing at your reference to “something called Youtube Red.” My teenage boy has a Youtube Red subscription, which really, all I can figure out is Youtube without the commercials. I begrudging pay $14.99 a month for this service because I am spoiling him rotten! But, I shall make him hand over his phone for a half hour so I can check out that show…
