1. All the fine details in Chanel’s newest holiday launches
Seriously swooning over the patterns in the Lumière Graphique eyeshadow palette and the Les Symbols de Chanel highlighters! So beautiful.
2. Apple and carrot soup
My favorite soup these days because it’s savory with a little bit of sweetness, and it’s super easy to make. I serve mine with little quinoa patties. YUM.
I stumbled onto this account on Insta and liked the simple soup ideas. I riffed on the apple and carrot soup recipe below (scroll through to see it)!
3. Watching watercolor painting videos
They’re so soothing! This one is one of my favorites.
4. Going for long walks in the fog
I used to live in the Richmond neighborhood in San Francisco, which is close to the beach and notorious for the heavy fog, even in the summer. Dude, it was so misty and foggy ALL THE FREAKIN’ TIME. I felt that chill deep in my booty bones for years. I didn’t really love it, but occasionally I enjoyed walking around in the thick mist.
Anywho, where I live now in Marin is only occasionally foggy, so I don’t get to walk around in it often. Earlier this week, though, the fog was thick, and it didn’t burn off until the afternoon. I took a long walk in the early hours and hauled my bum up and down a bunch of hills… It was beautiful to see the mist moving through the trees, and the cool air felt invigorating.
All the fall colors seemed that much more saturated, too. So pretty.
5. Teena Marie’s song, “Square Biz”
This one’s a banger! Blast it in your car ASAP.
What’ve you been loving lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Walking in the fog scares me. I just think some crazed person–or ghost– is going to jump out at me.
Oh, Teena Marie! She was an incredible talent!

LOL, I can see why a foggy walk would be scary. It was relatively bright since it was daytime though, and the visibility was decent, all things considering. If it was evening and zero visibility, then I wouldn’t do it. Too scary!

I grew up in Playa del Rey. Every afternoon the fog would come rolling in and the dew would drip off the eucalyptus trees that thrived in the area. I loved it! As soon as I got home from school, I’d brew a small pot of tea and toast an English muffin before starting on my homework. Nostalgia so sweet.
And speaking of nostalgia, I think Chanel did a lovely job on their holiday collection. The quint is perfect for creating a more refined looking smoky eye. Along with a deep red lip, it captures the 1920’s flapper era which seems to be one of the trends this year. I love the quint, but I gave all the vampy lipsticks a miss—too dark and harsh looking at my age. Instead I wear a translucent ruby red which works much better on me. As for those highlighters, I bet the coral shade would be absolutely stunning on you. I haven’t pulled the trigger on it as I keep asking myself what on earth I am ever going to do with so much highlighter. You might say I’m over the over-sized!
Soups! I love a good, comforting soup when the weather gets nippy. In fact, I was thinking of making a pot of Greek fakes for tonight. It’s a hearty lintel soup—lentils (duh!), onion, garlic, chunks of carrot and tomato all simmered in a tomato based broth seasoned with S&P, oregano, and bay leaf. Because we like things spicy, I always add a generous pinch of red pepper flakes to the pot although that’s not traditional. I serve fakes with tzatziki and grilled flat bread. Hearty, filling, nutritious, and comforting.

I may have drooled a little reading about your delicious soup! YUM!
Re: the highlighters. They are massive, OMG! I’ll probably end up using them for both eyes and cheeks. 😀 I can’t wait to dig into the quint. So pretty!

The soup looks delicious and warming since we are having a snowy week out here. And the cold has starting too. I am going to check out your Instagram site for ideas. Thank you.
The Chanel does look gorgeous but I don’t know if I could use such a pretty palette – the shooting stars in the highlighter are too pretty to ruin. I can’t do a black or grey Smokey eye given my colouring but that would be pretty for someone who can rock it.
Do you get done up for Christmas parties Karen? Maybe you can do a look for us with this Chanel product for a how to so Christmas party looks with them? Just a thought.

Hi Vita,
When there’s a holiday event I usually end up doing a bright lip and a simple eye makeup because it’s fast and easy. Buuuuut I really want to wear the Chanel palette, so I’ll try to do something fun just for the heck of it. 🙂
Happy Friday!

That Chanel collection looks gorgeous, as always. It’s soupy kind of weather here, too. A bit warmer than usual but dreary/rainy. Of course, you won’t be surprised to hear that I’m not a huge soup fan, and prefer those loaded with cheese or cream. Or both! 😉 Our latest was Chicken Pot Pie soup and the next will be Cheddar Broccoli, then probably French Onion.

The fog up your way is lovely. We haven’t had any recently.
I love watching this person’s painting videos. https://www.instagram.com/hun__hun__/
I’m still waffling on the Chanel holiday collection.
