A Makeup and Beauty Blog giveaway

A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!
A Makeup and Beauty Blog Giveaway!

Rise and shine, pal o’ mine. 🙂 Happy Caturday.

How did you sleep? Did you have any good dreams? I’m not sure if I did… Can’t remember.

I did, however, have a nice night. El Hub and I went to dinner at the Pasta Pomodoro down the street (I had a glass of moscato, which I’ve totally been into lately), and then came home.

Action packed? No, not really. But it was nice.

Today I have some household things to take care of, like grocery shopping and cleaning up the deck. We are literally down to the bare minimum in the fridge. You know how when you open the fridge and wonder, “Hmm… What can I make with half an onion, three slices of bread and some barbecue sauce?”

LOL! OK, it’s not that bad yet, but almost.

What do you have going on today? Please tell me you’re doing something fun. I have chores to do, so I need to live vicariously through you.

I slept in this morning, so I haven’t even had my first cup of coffee. I’m about to, and I’m beyond ecstatic about it. While I go make my favorite drink, why don’t you enter this weekend’s giveaway? I’ll be right back. 🙂

    Hi Karen and Tabs!

The Man and I had a wild night last night! Hahah. We played bingo and watched American Hustle, so it’s cool that you chose Jeremy Renner for this weekend’s giveaway photo 🙂 Nothing cray cray today. Just boring weekend stuff for now. Next weekend, though: shenanigans!

Hi karen, hope you are having a great weekend. The weather has been so nice the past 3 days (knock on wood). It’s in the late 50’s low 60s. I do not know how to do a cut crease! They aren’t actually sold in a drugstore but I think the best cheap brushes are Coastal Scents, they have a MAC 217 dupe for only 5 bucks. Excellent brushes, most of my brush collection is CS.

So the weather has FINALLY started getting warmer! Georgia’s winters are hardly ever too bad, but this year, I got five days of school off because we had so much snow or black ice (not that I’m complaining). Yesterday was windy but warm & today’s warmer! Can’t wait til I can just throw on some shorts and a tee. Having to wear jackets takes me longer to dress! 😛

I’ve really been into cool brown, taupe-like eye looks lately. I have these 3 eye shadow brushes, I have no idea what brand they are, they don’t have a brand or anything marked on them, just plain black handles 2 with brown bristles, one with black, maybe something generic from Target or Walmart, who knows, but they are excellent! I’ve been using them practically everyday for the past 5 years or so, with washing them every few months, and they are still going strong!

My favourite eye look right now is pastel eyeshadows (mostly pink or lavender) combined with a bold dark lip, I’ve also been liking cut creases a lot lately. In my opinion, Real techniques are the best makeup brushes you can have at the drugstore right now.

In canada it’s sunny but still a little bit cold and windy and I don’t know how to ski.

The roads are AWFUL, seriously, and you want me to risk my life and come out there? No thanks. And yet this STILL makes me feel bad about myself! WTF! I could sure use a win…

i was just reading a past post about discontinued products that broke our hearts… so here are mine:
    – lancome ablutia- the most beautiful perfect pink cleanser i’ve ever used. i wish i could find it now. they discontinued it in 2007, i think. i want it to meet my clairisonic..
-mac goldbit eyeshadow- i have been searching forever for this eyeshadow.. it was my first mac product ever in like, 2002 or 3… and it ran out and it never came back 🙁 i have ud sin… which apparently is like it? but at this point i barely even remember the original!
-clean and clear NIGHT lotion- also really great! there was a ‘day’ and a ‘night,’ and night was very gentle. i stole it from my sister, who didn’t care for it…

if you have any goldbit ideas, let me know! i don’t think i’ll ever find the other two…

My fav non-high end retail brushes are the pixi brushes at Target. They have long enough handles without making me feel awkward and the strands themselves are actually quite…silky. I know that sounds weird but trust me. If we must be all technical I’ll have to say Eco Tools are my fav drugstore makeup brushes. They are very durable and the bristles are fairly soft. Also, they come in great little carrying cases and since they’re made with almost 100% good stuff I don’t have to worry too much. Good luck fellow raffle entries. Happy Caturday to all!

No criticizing, just observing! 😀 I’m trying to start doing “self care sundays” where in there is scented candle lighting, book reading, and other activities that may be performed in one’s pajamas. What’s your favorite eye look right now? I recently got the long-coveted NARS habanera eyeshadow duo so I’ve been playing around with looks, adding some other purple shades from my collection too to give it some more color. I’m obsessed with the mint from habanera though, it’s such a high-quality super star shadow.

I might as well smile now because living in New England the weather changes with a snap of the finger. We are expecting more snow on Tues and possible Wed. With temps in the teens at night! Karen,

I was reading your comment about your eyebrows not cooperating with you and the 2 items you use to help which also lighten up your brows. I find that a very interesting trick which I will try. I have never used anything with color on my brows at all. I have one suggestion to offer you too. When you don’t feel like the extra color, use mustache wax. I find it in CVS or Walgreens where they sell the men’s shaving items. A little goes a long way and it is sure to tame those brows. Sometimes I even use it on my hair when my bangs are not cooperating with me!

Thanks for all you tips too!

Hola Karen, I enjoy reading your newsletter and blog. Over the past year, I started learning about and seeking out beauty bloggers that held my attention. You are one of the women I like. First because you are a women with skin color close to mine and second your passion for make up and third love of cats care close to my heart. I have one tabby and one tuxedo cat: Baby and CoCo. My Baby, tabby, is especially spoiled and close to me. At times she thinks and acts like the boss around this joint. I love her to death as she comforts me when I am ill. It seems like a long time ago, in 2005, I was injured in a car accident. My spine was damaged. My baby sticks by me on those bad days and plays with me on the good days. I love her perhaps more than make up. And i love my make up. On some days I play up my eyes with different colors and bare lips. On other days, I like the bare eye look with cats eyes and crazy red lips. It must be the Latina in me, I am lusting all the time for great red lipstick. It would be an honor and big surprise to win the $50 dollar gift certificate. I would definitely buy some new foundation, as Spring and Summer is right around the corner. Also my foundation is close to the bottom. Hope to hear good news and enjoyed chatting with you. Blessings. Glorya

I tried it out all weekend: went heavy with it for dinner/drinks on Saturday, and a light halo effect for Sunday brunch. Need to make a pitstop at Sephora for a return today, and just noticed it magically appeared in my bag. Who in the what?! LOL Radiant did not want to stay home today smh

My current favorite eye look (when I apply makeup–I’m a stay at home mother and wife) is smoky brown look. To make each look different, I use a variation of browns from different eyeshadow palettes such as the Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 and Wet and Wild’s limited edition Nude Awakening. I then pair each look with a black pencil liner on my water lines, black mascara on my lashes, a neutral toned blush and lipstick/lipgloss.
