Today’s my birthday — forever 43, baby! LOL. Even though I don’t really have any exciting plans because I have lots of work to catch up on (I swear, the end-of-the-year school activities are intense), I’m feeling really good because I’m happy to be alive and to be surrounded by so much love.
I do have one small birthday request to ask of you, my friend. I want to keep the feeling good vibes, so if you could please share with me one nice thing that’s happened to you recently, that would be the best birthday present. When you feel joy, I feel joy, too. 🙂
I hope you have a fabulous Friday and that things are spectacular on your end.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Happy, Happy Birthday, Sweet Friend! I hope you have the best 43rd birthday yet! 🙂 The nicest thing that’s happened to me recently is that my kitty love, who accidentally got outside when no one was looking, was found a few hours later. Safe, sound and so happy to snuggle and sleep with all her precious people. That was beyond nice! <3

For Memorial Day, Dear Husband and I went to the DeYoung Museum to see the Ansel Adams and Kehinde Wiley exhibitions. Both really excellent shows, but in different ways. And then he surprised me with lunch reservations at Zuni Cafe. I hadn’t eaten then since way before the pandemic set in. AND we even found a parking spot within two blocks of the restaurant. Since the pandemic restrictions have been lifted worldwide, Dear Husband has started traveling more once again, so it’s nice when I can spend a leisurely day with him, without chores or errands, just enjoying his company.
Tatiana says
Happy Birthday! I hope you get to spend today and this weekend with those you love.

Happy Birthday, Karen! I hope you have a lovely day and get to do something fun and eat something wonderful. I work for Legal Aid, and our CEO decided to grant us Friday off before Memorial Day, so we all got a 4 day weekend instead of 3. That was a nice surprise.

I got a nice thank you email from someone I wrote a feature about. an article I wrote about her and a book she wrote, an excerpt from which follows:
“A friend just sent me a physical copy of your article about Emilie Loring and my book. Wow, it is so impressive! I had no idea how it appeared in print, that it was the front page of the arts section. Even more thanks and appreciation to you for making this happen. ”
Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday and wishing you another joyful trip around the sun! Yesterday I had my yearly eye exam and passed with flying colors – at 65-1/2, one can’t be too careful!

Happy Birthday dear Karen! I hope you have a wonderful day with your loved ones.
Today, I got to have dinner with a friend who recently graduated from her Masters in Fine Arts and turned 40 all in the same month. In the pandemic, she held virtual Pilates classes on Zoom and her classes kept me going, during some dark days. So it was nice to see good things happen for a friend 🙂

Very happy birthday from me and the fur babies!
A few weeks ago we went to Cedar Point, a big amusement park, with my husband’s family. They all go wild for roller coasters while I’m a scaredy cat with a heart condition. We have bunches of great nieces and nephews who I’ve just been hoping I could ride kiddy rides with and my 3.5 year old great niece asked me specifically to ride rides with her and it was so nice that she wanted it to be me.

Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday dear Karen!
Happy birthday to you!
Something happy – I have enjoyed reading you every day, since the beginning.
Something else happy – my husband and I, with our dog Stanley, got to meet the soon-to-be in-laws, and then enjoyed wining and dining each other in Temecula.

Happy, happy birthday Karen! 🍰❤️
Silly thing, but my hair came back super curly after chemo last year. It’s growing like crazy, and I “sorta” wanted to grow it out long, but it was just not going like I wanted. I got it cut a couple of weeks ago – super short on the back and sides, longish crazy curls on top, and I LOVE IT! I looked in the mirror post cut and said, “Why, hello me!” 😘

Happy Birthday – you are so kind that you are asking us for joyful happenings which ends up being a gift to us too as we reflect on these things thank you Karen.
I am just back from a trip for the last 10 days to help my sister with her newborn daughter and her toddler daughter. The nicest thing that happened was that my sister allowed me to help when she really needed me and trusted me to be there for her and her family when she was unwell … it feels good to be loved and valued … but more than that even is that I am thankful that my sister survived her childbirth of her newborn. She had a very dangerous occurrence and we almost lost her – I couldn’t be more thankful for the powers that be whatever they are or might be that ensured she continued for her girls and all of us. New baby snuggles are so incredible I can hardly stand being without right now.
Anyhow, I sincerely hope that the feelings of love and joy that you feel today travel with you for the rest of the year and that this birthday magic feeling never leaves you. You are a super special person on this earth – please remember this always!

Happy birthday you beautiful soul! ❤️ I got a “I love you mama” out of the blue from my two year old this morning, so that’s pretty much the best. 🤗 Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Happy Birthday! May it be a wonderful day. I think the nicest thing that has happened to me lately was a dedication to me in a friend’s first novel for helping her with edits and such before her final manuscript was submitted. (editing is the LEAST fun part of being a writer).

Happy Birthday!!! 43 forever is a good age! Lol! I am doing the same! We just got our sweet kitten neutered, woo hoo! I’m a huge fan of spay and neuter. I have lime green fingernails, and today was my daughter’s last day of school, so I officially have a Senior!

Happy Birthday, sweet lady!
I hope today you have sleep, cake, laughter, relaxation, the ability to be present in the moment, something that makes you smile every time you think of it, kitty snuggles, hugs and giggles from Connor, a doting El Hub, and of course a new beauty product that knocks your socks of! Thank you for all of your wonderful, uplifting posts. It truly makes a difference.
The nicest things lately:
-Today is me and my husband’s 20 year anniversary (not wedding, but of being a couple) and I am just as smitten now, if not more with this wonderful soul who does life with me.
-I had a patient tell me the other day that I was the best nurse she ever had.
-My puppy is not only acing basic obedience training but is now going into the advanced. The instructor said that she is smart and pretty enough to go into show competitions. (Although I don’t have the time or the $, it made me swell with pride.)
-I passed the Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (lawd, the brain work on that one) and don’t have to renew again for 4 years.
-I’ve been going outside first thing when I wake up and focusing on gratitude and wow what a difference it has made in my daily life.
Sorry for the Novel. Happy Birthday!!!

My son, who has shingles, had lost quite a bit of hearing in one ear, but with prompt treatment,
That has improved somewhat. Such a relief, fingers crossed.

Happy Birthday Karen!!! 🎂🎉🌹🎈🥰
This post was so lovely and heartfelt! I feel so blessed I found your blog years ago… you bring such light and humor to all of us. Here is my gratitude story. I like to make meals for a homebound senior neighbor and i try to do this 2x a week just to say hi and give her some company. She surprised me last week with the most beautiful handmade knitted blanket I’ve ever seen. She was working on it slowly at night with arthritis in her hands. I will always treasure it and her.

Wishing you a very happy birthday Karen. My birthday was on 2 June. As I live down under, it is winter and I was so blessed to have a sunny day for my birthday and I enjoyed it with a friend and my beautiful dog. Simple but joyous. x

Happy Birthday and many more happy, health days with those you love!
I just got a MAC Connect in Colour eye shadow palette in the mail to try and review.
A great treat to end this not so great week- I have strep throat and now so does my sister, ladies of our advanced years are not supposed to get it.

Happiest of birthdays to you, Karen! I hope you get all that you wished for and then some!
I recently started a new workout regimen that focuses on slow, heavy lifting. I have been very pleasantly surprised to find out how much stronger I am than I realized. It has been a real boost to my self-confidence!

I hope you’re having a super fantastic beautiful day! God bless you!
I’ve been enjoying happiness from time spent with our newly adopted Shepherd mix, Diesel, and from the birds I feed in the backyard, especially the beautiful Blue Jays that come to visit me so closely on my back porch! 💙🤍🩵

Happy happy happy birthday, Karen! I wish you joy and peace. May you continue to be surrounded in so much love. I hope you can break from work and get a little rest, relaxation, and celebration!
As an MBB reader, I thank you. I’ve been reading your blog for so many years, and it’s an email I actually want to open and read! LOL I enjoy your writing, both about makeup and life in general!
Anyways, the nice thing that stands out to me was last weekend, my husband said to choose a place to visit and we could have a day road trip. We chose a little gem of a beach that we’ve never been to before about 90 mins South, and it was like my mind and soul went on a mini vacation. I’m so thankful to my husband for offering that.
Happy Birthday and God Bless You, Karen!

Happy, happy birthday Karen! You are a light in this world!
I’m in the midst of a big move and my sister, who literally lives across the country, took several days off work and flew out to help me start the packing process. Not only is she an organizational whiz and expert packer, she’s also funny and fun to be with. We seldom get to visit in person, so it was great to see her.
P.S. For a birthday chuckle, you should know that autocorrect quite inexplicably changed my greeting to “Happy halitosis, Karen!” Thank goodness I proofread!

The other day my brother and his friend went to an amazing barbecue restaurant. He brought me back the most delicious pulled-pork sandwich, yum.

Belated happy birthday to my favourite blogger! I hope you had a beautiful Bday day and you spent it just the way you wanted 🤗 Yours is such a hopeful and bright place on the web.
For the joyful story, I have to report that my students applauded me on the last day of classes this semester, so I guess I did okay🙃
