Hey, guys! Happy Friday to ya. I’m happy to report that this week’s makeup and hair uniform experiment was a success. I was afraid I would get antsy to try something different halfway through the week, but it was quite the opposite; knowing I already had a basic template to work from was, in a way, strangely freeing.
I especially looked forward to picking a lip color, and the one I wore yesterday is one of my favorites from MAC called Billion Dollar Smile.
Another thing I noticed was that as the week progressed, the liner got progressively bigger. I started off the week with the tiniest wisp of kitten liner and ended the week with a thick flick! LOL.
I’m planning next week’s “uniform” and am contemplating doing something like this crown braid.
And maybe perhaps pairing it with monochromatic makeup on eyes/cheeks/lips? I’m thinking fall tones, like warm orangey browns and whatnot. What do you think?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

Girl! You look so elegant and professional!
I feel like this is the end of an era seeing you like this in “corporate beauty mode!” 🙁
I’m happy for you but I’m sad for us.
I selfishly want you at home testing makeup and photographing cats and writing about it!
I prefer you in pinks but I prefer everyone in pinks so probably you shouldn’t take my opinion.
How’s it going so far?
Karen says
Aww, I’ll still be reviewing products! It’ll just be in a different way… I figure it’ll evolve into something, and hopefully that something will still be entertaining. I’ve been writing here every day for 14 years (going on 15 next February), so I don’t see myself stepping away soon. It’s hard for me to imagine life without this creative outlet!
So, the job has been great for stretching my writing muscles. I’ve been learning a lot. How are things going with you?

What lovely smooth skin you have!

Thank you, Sarah! It’s the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder working it’s pore blurring magic!

Karen – I love your Audrey Hepburn look today!!! So pretty and pearls are my all time favourite for a classic look.
Thank you also for getting me back in touch for my love of all things MAC – I started my makeup journey with them in Grade 12 for my grad and you brought me back to it. Thank you!! I LOVE the studio fix foundation. It is gentle and covers my rosacea skin well.
Go for the fall colours in your uniform next week – I need ideas for shadow play. Any chance you can do a step by step for a beginner to the art of the Smokey eye too?
Happy Weekend to all.
Happy weekend!!

Thank you, Vita! These pearls were a gift from my daughter and hubs. I wear them whenever I need a boost.
And yes, Studio Fix is so, so good. Hands down one of the best things in the MAC line. Whatever items do you love? I like the MSF Powder, the Extra Dimension shadows (Havana is a go-to), eyeliners (Teddy, Powersurge and Prunella for life) and, of course, the lipsticks and glosses.
Vita says
What a nice gift of pearls from your two fav people – next to Rosie of course and Tabs!! We all need those feel good items to pick up up sometimes hey?
I have never tried the MSF powder but will add to my wish list. I too like the Teddy eyeliner and picked up Prunella for this fall to try out. I like the Extra Dimension eyeshadow in Sweet Heat and I always enjoyed the regular shadow Swiss Chocolate. Paint pots are my quick look in Painterly or Bare Study. Viva Glam 1 was a fav but super matte so not as good a look as I age – to many creases and our dry weather here doesn’t help. Dubonnet is so pretty and I recently got the Dubonnet Buzz in the Powder kiss lipstick formula. It is really really pretty. You should check it out

Very classic look. That’s how I roll! Go for the warm tones. They’d be amazing on you!
Enjoy the weeken!

You look SO pulled together and chic in your pictures, that makeup and hair uniform is a complete success!
I love wearing crown braids, but am not sure I would have the patience to actually do one every single day, they do require some time.
Kim says
Lovely, as always. Your jacket (esp with the pearls) has a very Chanel feel. 🙂
Absolutely! Go for the fall colors – I’m sure you’ll look amazing. I’m glad to hear that your new “side gig” (haha) is going well. Congrats again on the big change!

Thank you for the idea.
Would you please share where we may purchase that cardigan? Love it !!
