G’morning, my friend! Happy first Saturday of October. Boo! 👻
I awoke to a bevy of breakfast treats this a.m. — hot coffee and a box of pastries from Rustic Bakery. El Hub goes first thing every Saturday morning so Connor and I can start our day with hot croissants.
I used to love making a big, fancy breakfast on the weekends, and I’m sure I’ll get back to that eventually, but for now I very much enjoy taking it chill. I think one of the most underrated joys in life is reading magazines on a weekend morning while having a buttery, yummy Meyer lemon croissant with coffee you didn’t have to make!
Side note: I don’t know why, but for some reason the act of filling the coffee maker and pushing the “on” button on Saturday morning is particularly brutal on my brain. Any other day of the week is fine, though.
Anywho, that’s what’s going on here this morning. I’m behind on my reading, so I’m catching up on the October issues of “Allure” (it’s their Best of Beauty edition) and “Real Simple.” I also bought this special edition of “Better Homes & Garden’s Meal Planning” because I’m getting so tired of scrambling to figure out what to feed the animals (specifically, El Hub and Connor) every night. I need help! I’m going to bookmark a few recipes that look good…
How’s it going for you this morning?

So, we’re heading to the Prozini pumpkin patch in Petaluma (gosh, that was a lot of “p” words) shortly just for fun. Anyone need a pumpkin?

Hi,
You might want to check out https://bluejeanchef.com/
She has a lot of good recipes. If you sign up for her email list, you can get a shopping list for seven days of recipes.
I’ve never tried Hello Fresh, but I’ve heard some good things about it and may give it a try sometime.
Hope you have a good rest of the weekend!

Rosie and her punkin! 🎃
I used to work at the Fashion Fair counter at Macy’s on occasion. I quit there a decade ago last month. Color selection at most of the big brands was pretty bad for more melanin rich folks back then, so even when I worked at Lancôme I would to take folks there on occasion for a better match. I’m glad options are better now (a lot of brands are still great – looking at you Chanel and Guerlain) but none of these brands did it until they had to. They ignored Black women for so long!

I’d go to that pumpkin patch just for the alliteration!
If your coffee pot has a timer, you could always get it ready the night before. I do that every weeknight because I don’t want to wake up and deal with waiting for it in the morning. 🙂
I feel you on the meal planning. I’m always thinking ahead for the week and trying to make things for everyone, ie taco meat for the boy (for actual tacos) that can also be used in a spaghetti squash taco bake for the grown ups, etc. It’s a challenge, which I know you also share since El Hub is GF and you are not huge on eating meat.
PS I feel like that middle outfit in the fall trends is not really for everyone. Unless everyone suddenly became 6′ tall and thin as a rail. HAHA!
