So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. A drink you absolutely love?
Coffee, coffee, coffee. Oh, and lately I’ve been all about iced tea (no sugar), but it has to be super cold.
2. It bugs me when _______.
You do an online order to pick up at Target for something like milk, and the milk you get is about to expire in a day.
3. I wish I could buy _______.
So many things. LOL! Furniture for the house, shorts that don’t annoy me, all the dance classes Connor would ever want to take. I’d also love another car; our second family car is 13 years old, and we’re spending more and more to keep it running.
4. What helps you get motivated to do stuff?
Lists help me a lot. If I can’t organize my thoughts and see them on paper, they just stay jumbled up in my brain, and I make no forward progress. Constantly thinking about staying busy also helps me, too. When I was in my 30s I had so much energy to do all the things; I just did them all without much thought. It was second nature. Now I’m just tired all the time, and all I wanna do is be a couch potato. I find, though, if I can focus on staying busy and on task, I can still get a good amount done.
Also… COFFEE!

My hair looks good. It makes me feel so much better.
6. What’s your least favorite color?
Ya know, I can pretty much find reasons to love most colors, but one color I am not a fan of is runny baby poo brown. You mamas know what I’m talking about.
7. When I’m driving I like to _______.
Listen to hip hop that I never play when Connor is around, LOL!
Oh my goodness, my friend. I did my nails yesterday and hoping that that small act gives me momentum to keep beauty-ing this week! I barely wore anything last week — just sunscreen and mascara. I’m thinking bright lipstick today! Who’s with me?

1. A drink you absolutely love? In the a.m. strong coffee or tea. As an occasional treat with dinner a Boulevardier, Vieux Carré, Paper Plane, Sibling Rivalry or Manhattan, all with bourbon please.
2. It bugs me when _______. Drivers don’t use turn signals or straddle lane lines or can’t park their car evenly between the lines. And when they won’t put down their phones to focus on driving.
3. I wish I could buy _______. Practical – a new stove. Solar panels for the house. Frivolous – a Dior jacket.
4. What helps you get motivated to do stuff? It helps if I make a list.
5. I love it when _______. The weather is clear but still cool, brisk or cold.
6. What’s your least favorite color? Depends. I’m with you on the baby poop brown. In clothes I look awful in yellow or orange. In new cars I don’t like that creamy, putty gray I’ve been seeing around.
7. When I’m driving I like to _______. Focus, focus, focus. Having grown up in a family in the car industry I taking driving very seriously. I am aware of how dangerous accidents can be.
Oh gosh, I’ve been seeing that putty gray in cars a lot! I’ve also been seeing a very interesting bright green that’s like a mix of highlighter green and pea green. It’s weird! But I gotta hand it to the car people who made it for at least making something different. It’s so rare to see color in vehicles and it was refreshing.
I know what you mean. Car colors seem to be limited to black, silver/gray or white these days. Not sure if it’s a supply chain issue or a conscious decision on the part of the manufacturers. The people down the street have what I would call a metallic pumpkin orange car. Orange but toned down with some brown in it.
Give me a blue car any day. Kinda annoyed. We got the company car we ordered, but it’s white not blue and a different trim line than we ordered. At least it’s new and it runs, even though it takes forever to charge on the house line.
Ooh, I think I know what make/model you’re talking about! Teslsa, yeah?
El Hub and I just had a discussion the other day about how when people get electric cars, they often have to upgrade their electrical in the garage so that they can give the cars enough juice at home. Otherwise it takes days.
Actually not a Tesla. Will not have one of those until they have better customer service and car servicing.
It’s a Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid.
Oh, I love the Hyundais! We were seriously thinking about getting one. Every one I’ve driven has been quiet inside, intuitive and just a pleasant ride. I hope it’s nice to drive!
Oh it does drive really nice. When we were testing cars to see which one we wanted the company to order for us I did all the test drives. I thought when Dear Husband made his exit and we had to return the car that I’d get another Acura. But the Hyundai is giving me second thoughts. If we did order one to purchase I’d probably hire an electrician to install a dedicated outlet for charging.
Yeah, to do that would be much more convenient than finding at charging station, for sure!
My parents are looking for a new car and based on your rave review, I’ve been trying to get them to buy an MDX. LOL!

4. What helps you get motivated to do stuff? Doing stuff! It definitely helps me to get on a roll to do more. But, first, I suppose using my inner drill instructor voice to tell myself to get going.
5. I love it when _______. A plan comes together? Any other A Team fans? HAHA! Actually, I love it when my boys are home for the summer.
6. What’s your least favorite color? I’m not a fan of sickly looking yellow-greens.

Ha ha… I appreciate the “A Team” reference. It was on after my bedtime, but I occasionally caught an episode and thought the idea of having a special van was very cool, LOL!
That’s true, you were a bit young for it. I loved it back in the day and feel like it might not have held up too badly. I’m saying that without having watched recently, though, so I could be VERY wrong. HAHA!

2. It bugs me when _______. People can’t make up their minds on simple things. Seriously, let’s take 15 minutes at the deli counter while there is a huge line to debate back and forth on regular versus baby swiss cheese, no wait, maybe I want cheddar.
3. I wish I could buy _______. This made me smile – 25 years ago, I’d have a list. Now, money is not a worry, and there’s nothing I want that badly. I have a small simple house, a reliable if older, car, and a husband and daughter who are healthy and happy and if I want to write some checks to help people I know in need or organizations that help others that need a boost – I can. I like that better than “stuff”.
4. What helps you get motivated to do stuff? I like the feeling of having it over with and taken care of.
5. I love it when _______. My dog comes into the bedroom each morning to see if I’m awake after my husband feeds her. OK, she’s probably just looking for more food but it’s comforting.
6. What’s your least favorite color? Anything mustard-like.
7. When I’m driving I like to _______. Look ahead and plan, assume everyone else is going to drive like an idiot. Because they usually do. Especially in Chicago.
You would probably not like driving in my neck of the woods. Everyone here with a sense of entitlement that’s exhausting!

My lips are so dry they peel. That’s basically all-the-time for me. And when I start thinking negative thoughts.

Lists. Positive self talk. Getting sleep and exercise so I’m not too tired.
And often I too just want to be a couch potato.

I get to hang out with family and friends eating yummy food. And When I take the time to look at the beautiful clouds.

Fluorescent colors, I guess. Or yellow.
7. When I’m driving I like to _______.
Marco a bestie friend or crank the music. I often use that time alone to pray.
