Pregnancy Update, 17 Weeks!

October 2nd, 2015 by Karen 37 Comments

Pickles, prunes and pregnancy, oh my! Your niece is 17 weeks old old now, and she’s doing great. Here’s a quick update.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addicts,

Karen and Baby Girl 🙂

P.S. Anyone else going to see The Martian tonight? I’m really looking forward to it. The previews look great, and I haven’t been to a movie in at least a month, which is a long time for me.

I’ve been going through popcorn withdrawals…

So glad to hear all is going well. I didn’t have weird food cravings, maybe because I was having a boy. My boobs did get all Kate Upton like, but they were big before. I wish I had bra extenders then. You will definitely need new bras, especially for breast- feeding, but you have time to deal with all that. The one major piece of advice I will give you is to get as much rest as you can now. It was a little uncomfortable sleeping towards the last month and once baby boy arrived, well I won’t go there yet. Just rest, rest, rest.

You look so happy! Glad to hear everything is going well!
I love prunes, I like to eat them even without… plumbing issues. I just love how they taste!

I was going to say- you look so happy but Lulle said it first 🙂 I am glad you are feeling better! I don’t have a lot (or anything) to contribute on pregnancy but it was fun to watch your video anyways and I am looking forward to more updates!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the movie! I am going to see Hotel Transylvania 2 on Sunday with my bf and his son. Lol.

Loved this update on your pregnancy! You look radiant, and I think your face is maybe a tad fuller?! Stay well, both of you!

Yes for prune juice! I know exactly what you mean, as I had the same…experience. Lol! It’s the iron in your pre-natal vitamins. Water and fiber are your two best friends right now. It gets better, I promise! Feeling her kick is the most amazing thing, proof that there is actually someone in there, apparently a future soccer Olympian! Thank you for sharing your journey with us! ❤️

Hiiiiii BABY JESSICA!!!!! Happy 17 weeks, Onion! <3 <3 <3

Go kick your mom around. As much as you want. Go for it. It's the only time in your life when she'll think it's cute.

You are so cute Karen! Glad you and my niece are doing well! Quincy, Mina, and Jiji send their love.

One of my Trapeze teachers has plans to dress her new niece or nephew (it’s going to be a surprise!) entirely in clown costumes, LOL! Baby Halloween costumes are hella cute though – can’t wait to see what my 18 month old great niece and great nephew wear! Plus, my niece, the momma of my great nephew, is preggers again, so more baby Halloween costumes! Glad it ain’t me, but I’m so excited for you 🙂 Any plans to use the baby bump for a fun costume?

I thought I was going to have a peg leg for Halloween because of my ankle, but I should be recovered by then – would have made a cool pirate costume!

It’s so exciting when the baby starts kicking. I’m glad you’re feeling better. I remember the plumbing issues. If you have you iron supplements, that will only make it worse, too. I’m glad the prunes are helping.

Yep, pregnancy updates will be my fave thing of this ENTIRE blog. Which is saying a lot because this is my fave blog ever. Glad the prunes are helping with your ” plumbing issues” lol! Your husband is soooo funny. Future soccer Olympian with killa makeup skills does have a nice ring to it. Glad you’re feeling better & you look great. I’ll say it again because it bears mentioning- pregnancy looks good on you. Thanks for sharing this sweet journey with us. ?

Oh, yay!! So great to hear an update on how things are going 🙂
I have to share this post about having a kiddo, and the love you experience: https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/10/02/i-really-love-my-daughter-but-im-not-supposed-to-talk-about-that/?tid=sm_fb
It really, really reminded me of the wonderful, pure love my sister has for her 5-month-old daughter, and I bet it’s how you’ll be with your little one! (Also it made me cry. So there’s that.)
    Hugs to you, Karen!

So so happy for you mama!! Has Tabs started to speculate about Baby Girl?

One thing I wish someone told me about bras is to get some really comfortable nursing bras even during pregnancy that will grow with you. The best ones are Bravado Body Silk Seamless Bras. Seriously super comfortable and great support even for big milk-filled boobies!! And of course you can live in them after you’ve had Baby Girl. 🙂 Just something to consider if you want to pick up a new bra.

You look great and seem so excited! Glad all is going well! I remember my cravings were watermelon and iceberg lettuce, weird I know with the lettuce, I’m just glad it was healthy stuff. I never bought maternity clothes either, I just went up a size or two in tops and used tube tops to keep my jeans up( u slide the tube top over your belly and unbuttoned jeans and it holds it all in place so you don’t have to buy maternity pants or have to wear yoga pants or sweats all the time). And you look simply stunning, I wish I would’ve been as lucky as you to still look gorgeous while pregnant, my kid sucked the beauty right outta me LOL!

P.S. If there is ever a prune shortage, Metamucil is good for plumbing issues too. 🙂

Hahahaha, I love that you actually HAD an onion there 🙂 So prune juice eh? I didn’t even know that existed… Now I kind of want to try it 🙂 Awesome bargain on that shirt. Maternity wear is so passé, right, it’s all about finding stuff that you can rock during AND after the pregnancy!

You are absolutely glowing! You look great. I’m glad you’re feeling better this trimester. Get as much sleep as you can now. It’s so hard to sleep the last couple of week of pregnancy. More so once the baby drops getting ready to be born, because then she will have take up all the room where your bladder normally is. I swear I could have lived in the bathroom those last two weeks.
If you get tired of prunes and prune juice, try fresh kiwis. They worked for me, maybe they’ll work for you.
I laughed at the who soccer star bit. My Dear Husband thought we were going to end up with a place kicker for the Forty Niners.

I am very lucky that I don’t need to rely on prunes, neither though my first pregnancy nor now, but I feel you on the need for new bras. The first time I was taken completely by surprise, i had somehow figured that just my tummy would grow and the rest would stay pretty much unchanged. Big mistake.

I still rock a black tee with those stretchy sides that I got for maternity reasons, & I think it still looks super cute for sure! They’re a great idea, shoutout to whoever thunk them up lol!
I was the same way with the pickles!! It does seem like a cliché, but it’s so true. At least for your 1st pregnancy.
& man, you are handling the kicks well! You’re actually processing everything about your pregnancy super well! You’re going to be a great mother, Karen. You’re so obviously cut out for it 🙂

Karen, MAC Hush has nothing on your natural glow!! I’m a nurse and one thing that seems to help a lot of patients when their plumbing gets botched up is prune juice that has been heated up. Just thought that it might help. 🙂 Thank you for your update and allowing us readers to go on this wonderful journey with you! No doubt your daughter is going to be the coolest on the block thanks to the awesome mom she has…Yay to 2nd trimester and pickles. I’m not pregnant and could eat them every day.
