The $25 BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight Kit Deserves the Limelight

November 6th, 2014 by Karen 8 Comments

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight Kit
The new BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight Kit, $25

So…Pearl, Opal and Champagne Gold really don’t ring a bell?

Really?

No, no, they aren’t the names of a Kardashian’s newborn triplets, although I tip my hat to you. Bravo. That was a good guess. 🙂

Pearl, Opal and Champagne Gold are the three colors in BECCA’s new $25 Shimmering Skin Perfectors Spotlights Kit, and if you aren’t already a fan of BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors, oh! — let me break it down for you. By the time I’m finished, you’ll probably want to start carrying one (or two or three) of these liquid highlighters with you at all times.

BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfectors are some of the best liquid highlighters I’ve ever seen or used. They have a fine, fairy-like opalescent finish that makes skin glow as if it’s being illuminated from within, and the magical light purposefully ignores pores and fine lines.

These highlighters succeed where I think many others fail. So many of them are either too frosty and look too harsh, or look straight-up oily and greasy on my skin, like I’ve just spent two hours trapped on a New York City subway train with broken air-conditioning in the middle of August.

The Skin Perfectors, on the other hand, create a soft, natural-looking glow that makes you look like you just spent those same two hours at a spa.

The limited edition Spotlight Kit comes with three deluxe sample-size 0.17-oz. BECCA Skin Perfectors for $25, including two of my favorites from the permanent collection — glimmering white Pearl and gleaming golden Opal — as well as Champagne Gold, a limited edition yellow gold shade.

All three also have a doe-foot applicator, which, truth be told, I prefer to the pump that comes with the regular 1.7-oz. Shimmering Skin Perfector bottles because I think the doe feet (foots?) are easier to control.

I like to dot and blend these on my upper cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, on my Cupid’s bow, and just above and below the highest point in the arch of my brow, and I use the tiniest amount. Barely any at all.

Just a little shimmer… Here I’m wearing Opal on my upper cheekbones, Champagne Gold down the bridge of my nose, and Pearl in the inner corners of my eyes and above and below the arch in my brows

For $25 (compare that to the regular full-size Shimmering Skin Perfectors, which cost $41 each!), you get three extra large samples to experiment with and try. I think that makes this set a great gift idea for beauty junkies, but let’s not kid ourselves here… You and I both know you’ll probably end up keeping this one for yourself. 🙂

PRICE: $25
AVAILABILITY: Limited edition, and available now online and at BECCA counters and Sephora

I saw this in store today when I was checking out the VIB sale and it looks so small and dainty! I’ve always wanted to try the Shimmering Skin Perfectors since Lisa Eldridge always recommends them, this seems like the perfect way to try more than one of them and decide which one I want to invest in the full size.

I have been wanting this set forever but I can never find it in store. Hopefully when I go to Sephora on Monday, they will have it because I absolutely need it 🙂

Right after I put this set in my loves list I started seeing a bunch of mixed reviews. I really hope my local Sephora has testers for these. I’d like to check it out for myself

I love Pearl, works nicely with my skin tone and is the rare highlighter that isn’t sparkly in direct sunlight! But the full size is ridiculously large and being a liquid, it’s going to turn funky. Love this trio and the travel size option now, wish I hadn’t bought Pearl in the full size last year so I could get this trio instead! 🙂

I have this set and totally LOVE it! The colors look opaque in the tube, but it applies as a sheer subtle shimmer that makes my skin look radiant and glowing, like I just left the spa. The highlighters are subtle, so it looks believable and they will flatter a wide variety of skin tones. And don’t let the size fool you, you only need tiny dots on your face. Between the Sephora sale and baby, I only had 3 hours sleep last night, but these helped me look awake and well-rested !

Well, you look all pretty and glowy as usual! But these aren’t products I’d use. Nature makes me look ‘glowy’ (read: shiny) enough as it is.

That sounds like a fantastic deal! I might break them up between myself and my cousins depending on skin tone. 🙂
