Dior Says Oui to Greenish Gold Micro Shimmer: The New Dior Addict Gloss in Nuit Boréale

Channing Tatum says what now…? You’re telling me there’s another green lip gloss worthy of a spring obsession?

Unlike Illamasqua’s Shoot, and the audience’s loud shrieks when Chan-Tate starts dancing to Pony, this one is quiet. Very, very quiet… The shimmery greenish golden pearl in Dior’s new Addict Gloss in Nuit Boréale is so quiet that you have to look closely to even see it (so no Hulk lips here).

Nuit Boréale (“polar night” in French, according to Google Translate) is one of 24 shades in the recently revamped Dior Addict Gloss line, and like the other Addict Glosses, it’s all about shine.

Or rather, reflection. While most glosses refract light, bouncing it in different directions, Dior says the new Addict formula’s glass micro-beads and crystalline micro-particles line up to reflect light more evenly.

And they say that’s why it also makes lips appear so plump and shiny.

I do think my lips look a little plumper when I’m wearing Nuit Boréale… Not Angelina Jolie-levels of larger-than-life lusciousness, mind you. Just a tad.

And sure, the chrome shine grabs attention, but I think it’s the color that really sets this particular tube apart.

Pinkish, peachy nude Nuit Boréale contains a moderate amount of pigment, making it totally wearable and gorgeous on its own, but that whisper of greenish golden pearl turns it into something special.

I know it’s kind of hard to see in these pics (I tried!), but quick flashes appear when I swipe it on my lips with the included brush and move my head around.

Oddly, the effect gets more obvious after most of the gloss wears away (it lasts about two hours), leaving behind a constellation of micro-shimmer with sweet nothings of greenish gold.

Too bad the unscented, unflavored formula doesn’t last a little longer than two hours…but that’s not unusual for such a non-sticky, slick, lightweight gloss.

I think Dior deserves props for creating a flattering, nude lip color both wearable and unique.

Speaking of Channing Tatum…

Weren’t we speaking of Channing Tatum? 🙂 Or was that just my wishful thinking?

Have you seen Side Effects yet? I watched it last weekend and thought it was great! What an interesting, thought-provoking thriller.

See it!

I went into the theater not really knowing much about it, and I don’t know how much my non-existent expectations had to do with how much I liked it, so I don’t want to reveal too much of the plot and ruin it for you.

I will say that my jaw almost hit the floor three or four times during the movie as I shouted (inside voice, of course), Twist! It’s directed by Steven Soderbergh and getting pretty good reviews so far on rottentomatoes.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Lovely color on you. The whole Dior Addict line (lipsticks and gloss) has been my all time favorite. They look so beautiful and elegant.

I love gold/green glosses, so of course I love this one too hahah. Leave it to Dior to do such a wearable take on one, I’ll have to swatch this one next time I’m at the counter. And that movie looks awesome, I haven’t even heard about it until now. Definitely going to go watch that as soon as I’m on break.

My personal latest lip gloss love is the Clarins Spring lip gloss. As for films, I want to see Hitchcock, hopefully this week will finally do.

It’s really a pretty color but a bit too shimmery (and light) for me. I’ve heard good things about Side Effects, too, but haven’t seen it. Speaking of movies, I was really glad that Ben’s 70s hair and beard won for Best Picture. 🙂

That color looks really pretty. I’m NC42 as well and I may have to splurge for that.
