Dior Goldrush Summer 2008 Collection: Swatches and Pics

April 15th, 2008 by Karen 77 Comments

Who loves gold, khaki and coral? I do! I do!

How ’bout Dior? Do you love Dior? Because I sure do. I got my paws on a few items from Goldrush, Dior’s new summer collection. It’s a limited edition being delivered to your nearby Dior counter as we speak. Dior has given us some new eyeshadows, lipsticks, lipglosses, a blush, a highlighter and nail polishes in coordinating tan, coral, khaki and gold.

I really like the 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Golds 569 ($52).
dior-goldrush-summer-2008-569-swatch

Pretty, yah? The eyeshadow palette pictured above houses five shades — a beige, bronze, copper, gold and khaki, all wrapped up in a sleek, midnight blue, trademark Dior compact.

I couldn’t wait to start playing with these colors.

The texture of these eyeshadows is similar to that of Chanel’s…

How do you like the shimmer?

If you’re feelin’ the eyeshadow shimmer, then you’ll also dig Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect in Coral Lame (pronounced lam-ay) 337 ($24.50).

dior-goldrush-summer-2008-addict-ultra-gloss-coral-lame

It reminds me of Chanel’s Gazelle but has a thinner texture. Color-wise, it leans more toward peach than pink, and the glitter in this is a touch chunkier than the glitter in Gazelle. Still, it’s tasteful and totally appropriate for day wear (not obnoxious or club glitter at all).

This was my first Dior gloss, and I’m in love. I wouldn’t say it’s quite as moisturizing as Clinique’s Long Last Glosswear, but I prepped my lips with Elizabeth Arden Eight-Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick beforehand, and that provided some extra moisturizing oomph.

Last, but certainly not least, take a look at this drop-dead gorgeous piece of princess treasure bling! Dior hid their new Golden Dior ($55), a shimmery golden cream highlighter (for eyes, lips and cheeks), in it. Isn’t it cute?

Goldrush reminds me a lot of Chanel’s Summer 2008 collection, which is why I’m loving on it so much! That said, Goldrush feels a little more extensive than Chanel’s summer offering, and I can’t wait to see more. Tonight I rushed to get these photos and my first impressions on the blog, but I’ve got even more Dior goodness lined up for you soon.

What say you? Are you feeling Goldrush?

Wow, ya’ll, what happened to Tuesday? It’s like I blinked at noon and woke up at 9:30 tonight. Where does the time go?

Time for a late dinner (tomato and red pepper soup with a spinach salad) and an hour of fine television fare in the form of Miss Rap Supreme.

How was your day?

These new Dior Goldrush Summer 2008 colours are simply divine. They have quite the lovely palette of gold colours and I think these colours might work on any women, any skin tone and they would be smashing on women over 35.

This is great option for women who will bypass this summer’s orange makeup trend!

Looks very pretty and summery. The bronze colors look so pretty on you. One time I had this bronze trio that looked so pretty in the box but on me the colors were too dark. A trip to the beach and bam! They looked just right 😀 Later on my mom claimed it since she has darker skin tone and it worked wonderfully nice on her.

The bling piece looks like something Serena Williams did about 2 years back for Flirt cosmetics (the one sold at Kolh’s). Owning a piece of Dior is like having the bragging right, you know. Lots of eyes are on you when you whip out that cute Dior lipgloss, try it in the next party you go and you’ll see 🙂

That, is gorge. Did you use the khaki as a liner?
I just found out they have special med student cocktail nights and balls. All’s not lost! Maybe sometime you could show us your take on the sexy doctor look. Heheh.

I just got a Dior reflects myself, Stretch Brown (537). It goes perfectly over my Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pink Truffle- my holy grail find for early morning cadaver classes and crazy long lectures. Doubles as cheek colour so I’m all set! The Dior gloss over it is perfect for evening drinks with the *ahem* hot lecturer later on.

    Hi Dao,

Girl, I wish I could get my mom to wear eye makeup. She doesn’t even own a lash curler (sigh).

It’s interesting how colors can shift with your skin tone! I’ve noticed that in addition to eyeshadows, certain lipsticks will look completely different in winter and in summer.

I will try that the next time I’m out with the girls! BAM! Dior lipgloss! 🙂

    Hi Sal,

I used MAC Coffee by itself on the top lash line. I used it again on the bottom and smudged the khaki on top with the MAC 219 pencil brush. LOL, I will try to channel my inner sexy doctor and see what I come up with, ha!

Oh! Now I wanna check up on that Stretch Brown! Hot lipgloss + hot lecturer + evening drinks = HOLLA! 🙂

    Hi Karen!

I stop by to read your blog all the time, but I’m a comment virgin! I really enjoy your posts, so thanks for the blog!

Anyway, re Dior, I am very fair, cool-skinned, blonde, and blue-eyed, and the Gold quint was too warm for me. Similarly complexioned people be warned. However, their companion palette, Goldfever, was absolutely perfect for my complexion. It’s colorful and shimmery without being OTT. Also, Coral Lame gloss looked great both on me and my darker-complexioned neighbor.

Have you tried any of the lipsticks?

    Hi Ilovecheese,

Girl, November is too far away. Put it on your list and then think about it for the next two weeks; perhaps “visit” with it at the counter a few times if you’re feeling motivated. If after that time frame you still want it then go for it! If you know you’re going to wear these colors often and if they complement your skin tone then they are worth the $$$… just ease up for the next month on other stuff. That’s what I try to do, at least 😉

Hahah, maybe I sound like a tidy person, but the truth is I’m not (shocking, huh) 😀 Even now my room is a big fat mess, lol. It appears that despite all the cleaning, my room is terribly messy right after the hours of cleaning ;P How are YOU? 🙂

    Hi Aleks,

I’m glad you are feeling better. I hope your mom gets well soon. Aww, that’s great that you’ve been chipping in to cook and clean. Good girl!

I have been great. This week my work load has been much lighter, and I’ve been getting more sleep, which makes a huge difference in how I view the world, LOL. I am looking forward to a few fun things this weekend — dinner with friends, dancing with my best guy pal and perhaps coffee with a blogger buddy of mine who is visiting SF!

Oh girrrrl, I’m so not feeling the bowling. I don’t bowl. Nope. I did it once (and the funny thing is, I hit all the pins without even trying) and that’s all I needed to do in this lifetime, LOL!

I haven’t hung out at the Lancome counter lately, BOO! But this Friday I should have some good free time to hit my nearby mall up and browse my little heart out. 🙂

Have a good day tomorrow and keep smiling!

Goldfever is really nice – it seems to work on all kinds of complexions. As I mentioned, I’m super-fair, but I have a friend who is Cuban and she loves it too.

I’ve only recently gotten into Dior, I guess because I’ve been too busy accumulating piles of stuff in every other brand (Chanel, MAC, Guerlain, Estee Lauder, Lancome, and Clinique, I’m talking to you!). Does their undereye concealer come in light colors too? I could certainly use something new for mine.

    Thanks!

    Hi Faye,

I’m in your same boat – been busy stockpiling other stuff in various lines as well, LOL. Yes, the concealer comes in lighter shades; I have the darkest one and truth be told it ain’t that dark. But it works for me! What’s really great about it is you barely have to use any of it and it covers up everything. Plus, it doesn’t budge, yet it still looks seamless. It’s kind of hard to use but once you figure it out it’s fab. I’ve been wearing it everyday for the past few months and I love it. 🙂

    Hi Karen B.,

At those events I think that people cancel often though, so I don’t think it’ll be a big deal. How was your extra class today? I hope it was kinda fun, at least!

It was okay. Just an hour extra solfège or however you call it. And choir was half an hour longer, so actually it was two extra hours.
First time in a long time that my voice was actually warmed up so that’s good.

    Hi Karen,

I had my eye on the Golden Dior charm ever since I saw it, what do you really think of it? Is it worth the money, and how is the highlighter inside? I have fair skin so I want to make sure it’s a worthwhile purchase 😉
