And the Cherry On Top? Nicole by OPI Oil to Go Cuticle and Nail Moisturizer Takes Out Dry Cuticles

Nicole by OPI Oil to Go
The new Nicole by OPI Oil to Go, $7.99

Smells like cherry cough drops…

Weird, but cool.

Really, if you think about it, who says cuticle oil can’t smell like cherry cough drops (intentionally or not)? Is there a law that limits cuticle moisturizing fragrances to a list of pre-approved scents (lavender: approved; orange: approved; cherry cough drops: UNAPPROVED!)?

I don’t think so — which is great, because at least cherry cough drops are interesting.

Nicole by OPI Oil to Go cuticle and nail moisturizer ($7.99) has interesting packaging, too. Designed for on-the-go gals, it looks almost like a lipgloss in its tube.

Ingredients

Twist off the pink cap, squeeze the tube, and watch in awe as the oil feeds through the brush applicator tip. Then mumble to yourself, “Why the heck didn’t I think of that?!”

The brush

No, really, why didn’t I think of that? Nothing makes me grumpier than finding a spilled bottle of CND Solar Oil at the bottom of a Kate Spade purse. 🙁 So yeah — Oil to Go’s leak-resistant packaging is a stroke of genius.

As for the oil itself — also pretty dope. It’s thick and moisturizing enough to soften the beef jerky cuticles on my fingers and toes and perfect for on-the-go touchups because the product doesn’t drip all over the place.

Plus, it smells like cherry cough drops!!

PRICE: $7.99 US, $10.99 CAN
AVAILABILITY: Coming Jan 2014 to CVS, Target, Walmart, Kmart, Duane Reade, Kroger and H-E-B stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A

Wait, that applicator is seriously awesome. Why didn’t I think of that?! I don’t know how I feel about the smell, but I do love cherries.

I am extremely interested in this, being a fan of cherry scented anything. 🙂 I keep my solar oil in a ziploc for the same reason. It does tend to be leaky.

PS Have you been watching anything new lately? I really like Almost Human. But I am partial to Karl Urban, so that helps.

Smart packaging, that’s for sure. But to be honest, I just use regular hand cream on my cuticles and it works just fine.

I’m wondering how many oz the tube is. My favorite cuticle oil is Sally Hansen’s Maximum Growth Cuticle Pen (click style pen like Stila lip glosess), which has a stiff brush that’s great for getting the oil under the free edge of the nail, so all surfaces are treated. Only thing is, it’s only 0.05oz, so it goes pretty fast.

Dr. Hauschka has a neem nail oil pen with a soft reed tip. It’s more expensive, but it lasts forever, mess free, all natural and smells hardly at all. The oil saturates the reed, which you push your cuticles back with like a cuticle stick, then “paint” your nails with it.
