Ugh, gals! It’s like sauna central up in here right now. The glow I’m sporting ain’t the sexy kind. It’s more along the lines of a sweaty beast.
What are up to? Is it hot there?
I think I need to escape my apartment until it cools down… I may go to a movie, at least for the air conditioning. 🙂
Whatever you’re doing tonight, I hope it’s fun!

G’morning, cuties!
The sunlight filling my apartment today got me thinking about face highlighters and this note in my email from Imelda:
Dear Karen,
I just wanted to ask you what your favorite face highlighter/luminizer is. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Imelda
Hi Imelda, 🙂
I tend to switch products/brands every so often, but right now I’m really loving Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint & Burnish ($30), MAC Cheeky Bronze Mineralize Skinfinish ($27), Benefit High Beam ($24) and the NARS Multiple Duo in Orgasm/South Beach ($45).
Ladies, is there a highlighter you can’t live without? Please list your favorite along with a quick description of your skin tone (I’m a MAC NC35: medium brown with slightly warm but mostly neutral undertones). Let’s make this post a great recommendation resource for peeps of all skin colors!

MY BEST: I liked the way my eye makeup turned out yesterday, not that I did anything special with it on. I wore the MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Assemblage ($20) quad from the Colour Craft collection. I think the taupe shade’s to die for, but all four colors work together surprisingly well. I wore them with MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack ($15), and I kinda think my eyes looked bangin’. 🙂
MY WORST: Wearing Illamasqua Volume Mascara ($23). So no cute. I love Illamasqua’s lipsticks and blushes, but the mascara left little black flakes everywhere!
What were your best and worst beauty experiences of the week? Spill the beans in the comments.

It may still be summer, but at makeup counters everywhere, autumn leaves are starting to fall.
August brings even more fall makeup, and it’s time to say one last goodbye to July. Here were some of my favorite posts of the month. 🙂

While channel surfing yesterday, I stopped on a random show on Bravo called NYC Prep. Have you seen it? It’s a reality show about New York prep school teenagers.
I’m not sure how much of the show is real, but the kids sure don’t act like the teenagers I knew back in the day.
I had to turn when PC, one of the characters/actors, while sitting on his therapist’s couch, started waxing philosophic about his years of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll (he’s like 17).
Forget reality…
I’d rather play with Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Freakshow ($18). 🙂

Freakshow, a shimmery purple with reddish hints, is one of three Deluxe Eyeshadows from Urban Decay’s fall 2009 collection.
I used it and some MAC products for this pink, purple and bronze eye:

Good but a little tired… I had a knot in my stomach last week (from house hunting), but I feel better now.
I’ve always *loved* the Shu Uemura lash curler.
LOL, what didn’t I want to be? I wanted to be an astronomer, an archaeologist a veterinarian — so many things! As much as I love them, my parents kinda discouraged a lot of different career paths. It’s weird, but among Filipino families there are basically only three vocations of which parents approve: doctor, nurse or engineer, LOL!
Years ago my friend Dave said to me, “When you fall down, pick yourself up, brush yourself off and keep moving forward.” 🙂
It’s mostly Urban Decay in the hizz today! Eyes: Sin Eyeshadow Primer Potion, the Ammo Palette shadows in Sin and Smog, Deluxe Eyeshadow in Freakshow, 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Underground, Skyscraper Multi-Benefit Mascara. Lips: Naked Lipstick and 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Wallflower. Cheeks: the Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint & Burnish.
Unfortunately, yes. When Grandma went to beauty school she practiced on me and my mom. Thankfully, I was only six at the time.
Dinner with El Hub on Saturday night.
Benefit My Place Or Yours Gina.
Purple tank top, jeans and a tan blazer.
Record what I eat in my food journal (I’m trying to watch my calorie intake), donate clothes to Goodwill, take Tabs to the vet, try to keep my desk clean, and start doing push-ups.
Hiya, girls. How was your weekend? I hope you got some time to relax. 🙂
I’m never quite ready for Mondays, but I always look forward to hearing from you. Let me know what you’ve been up to by copying the empty list below and pasting it with your answers in the comments.
