Remember the makeup organizers from the late ’80s? I have a vintage OG peach and mint green one from eighth grade, and I still love it. Funny thing… I’ve never used it for makeup storage. I’ve always kept costume jewelry in mine!
Caboodles are still around, believe it or not; I’ve seen them at Ulta and at Target. Whenever we walk by them, Connor stares at them longingly and comments on how she’d love one of her own. Side note: I’ve totally dropped the ball with Easter this year because of all the house stuff that’s been happening, so she might be getting a Caboodle filled with chocolate from the Easter bunny.
I guess Caboodles still have that special appeal, that magic something-something that makes girls want them!
How do you feel about Caboodles? Did you have one back in the day? Do you still have one now?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

That’s a fun Easter gift for Miss Connor Claire! She will love it! Yes I had a teal caboodle back in the day, think I got rid of it at a garage sale though! Would’ve been fun to save for my girls!

I think they still sell a retro version similar to the original ones from back in the day.

Yay! I love Caboodles❤!!! My daughter is 7 and she loves her Caboodle. She keeps all of her “special” things in hers (Cards from friends and family, fidget toys, bracelets, etc.). I also recently started using one (haven’t had one since I was a teenager). I wanted to eliminate how much makeup I had to choose from in the mornings. If it’s not in the Caboodle…I can’t choose it. Occasionally I will swap products in & out from my stash. This does not include lipstick (because I own way more than I should and it’s my weakness). We also decorated our Caboodles with stickers together😊.
Karen says
Hi, Mandy! That’s a great idea to decorate with the stickers. Also, you’re so smart to keep daily makeup contained in one place. I’ve gotten into the habit of shoving my daily products into whatever makeup bag happens to be closest. I haven’t been very organized!

I still have my original 2 Caboodles and there is still some costume jewelry in there from back in the day!

I remember having a purple sparkly one and taking it to sleepovers! It makes me want to buy one.

I still have mine. It was designed to hold nail polish and is white with a pink handle. Back in the day it was full of nail polish and nail painting accessories. Now I use it to store art and craft supplies. I like the idea of using one for Connor’s Easter basket. She’ll love it!

I never did get a caboodle as a little girl. My mom thought they were silly and she is not a girlie girl or makeup lover – we had to be careful of every penny she used to say … I don’t blame her as a refugee. But why didn’t I buy one with my babysitting money? I should do it now!! Thanks for the inspiration. I am going to get my niece one too and put treats in there while she is too little for makeup.
Connor is lucky to have a Mommy like you. What a great Easter idea.
I wish you all a nice long weekend for the Easter weekend. 🐣🐰🙏🏻

Like everyone else, I fondly remember my Caboodles. I bought it in the early 80’s. It was turquoise with bright pink trim. I never used it for cosmetics, though. I used it for sewing notions.

I wanted one as a kid. Now that I am older they have lost their appeal, at least for makeup storage

I love Caboodles! I still have a pink and teal one. My 16 year old daughter wanted a makeup case and I tried talking her into one. She refused until she saw how sturdy and practical and cute they are. I almost had a tear when she picked her Caboodle!

Never had one as a kid (wasn’t allowed makeup). Even if I didn’t mind the visual aesthetic, I have way too much makeup for them to be practical. Haha. Even if I used one just for my daily basics, I don’t think they’d fit larger palettes or other bulky packaging.

My 3-year old granddaughter went to Claire’s with her mom and she picked a pink Caboodle out of all the things there! It certainly appeals to all ages 😊
